For the boyz and gals from the catwalk and the fashion industry nothing could be more passe’ then war. Because ‘War is Not the Answer’“War is obsolete.” “War is never justified.” “The answer to violence is not more violence.” “War does no good.” “No one wins a war.” “Love, not war.” “Diplomacy, not war.” “Dialogue, not war.” “Stop violence.” “Justice, not war.” “No war is legitimate.” “Everyone loses in war.” “War, Never Again.”

Terror Plot Foiled: MSNBC Ignores It

While CNN and Fox News Channel were in breaking news mode early this morning, broadcasting continuous live coverage of the London bomb scare, MSNBC was acting like nothing had happened.

MSNBC’s First Look, live at 5am and repeated at 5:30am, barely made mention of the developing story. The top story was yesterday’s immigration defeat in Congress.

Anchor Joel Connable was finally forced to mention the terror plot once, when tossing to CNBC Europe for a market update. “The discovery of what police in London are calling an explosive device is having a big effect on the markets there,” he said.

But viewers wanting to know more about the “discovery” had to turn to CNN or FNC…

UPDATE at 6/30/07 1:45 am:

CBS News reports that a message was posted on a jihadi bulletin board hours before the car bomb was discovered: Was London Bomb Plot Heralded On Web?, Internet Forum Comment From Night Before: ‘London Shall Be Bombed’.

And there’s a Salman Rushdie connection.

Hours before London explosives technicians dismantled a large car bomb in the heart of the British capital’s tourist-rich theater district, a message appeared on one of the most widely used jihadist Internet forums, saying: “Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed.”

CBS News found the posting, which went on for nearly 300 words, on the “al Hesbah” chat room. It was left by a person who goes by the name abu Osama al-Hazeen, who appears regularly on the forum.

Al Hesbah is frequently used by international Sunni militant groups, including al Qaeda and the Taliban, to post propaganda videos and messages in their fight against the West. …

Al-Hazeen’s message begins: “In the name of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful. Is Britain Longing for al Qaeda’s bombings?”

Al-Hazeen decries the recent knighthood of controversial author Salman Rushdie as a blow felt by all British Muslims. “This ‘honoring’ came at a crucial time, a time when the whole nation is reeling from the crusaders attacks on all Muslim lands,” he said, in an apparent reference to the British role in Iraq.

“We say to Britain: The Emir of al Qaeda, Sheikh Osama, has once threatened you, and he carried out his threats. Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed,” the message reads.

Sheik Yer’mami sez: Looks like Allah was not ‘willing’…

Current aid will not stop Gaza humanitarian crisis: UN

* Fitzgerald: It is absurd that the American government, that any Infidel government, that any Infidel taxpayers are being forced by their governments anywhere to support Muslims in the style to which they have grown accustomed — to wit, living on the disguised Jizyah of foreign aid from Infidels. They consider themselves entitled to this even though they remain implacably committed to the Islamic view of Infidels and, certainly in the case of the “Palestinian” Arabs of Fatah, determined to make life hell for the Israelis.

Humanitarian aid flowing into the Gaza Strip since Hamas violently seized power two weeks ago is not enough to prevent a dire humanitarian crisis, the UN warned on Friday.

Over 1,500 tonnes of food, including nearly 400 tonnes of wheat and 569 tonnes of animal feed, as well as an additional 300,000 litres of milk, passed from Israel into the Gaza Strip on Friday, the army said in a statement.

But this fell far short of the amount of food, medical equipment and cement needed daily in Gaza to prevent a severe humanitarian crisis in the impoverished territory, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said.

“One hundred and seventy-five truckloads of basic humanitarian aid have to get into the Gaza Strip every day in order to stave off a humanitarian crisis,” spokesman Christopher Gunness told AFP.

“The amount of supplies getting in today is not enough to stop a humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” where 80 percent of the 1.5 million Palestinians depend on external aid flowing mainly through Israel, he said.

Israel sealed Gaza’s borders when Hamas, whose charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish state, seized control of the territory on June 15 after routing Palestinian Authority security services.

Although Israel has allowed emergency deliveries in through various crossing points, the general closure has raised alarm about the impact on Gaza.

“We need the Karni crossing fully functioning now in order to allow food and cement necessary for urgent infrastructure works and housing projects to get in,” Gunness said referring to the main imports-exports terminal.

Netherlands: “Cut benefits to burqa wearers”

Spine Discovered in Holland

* If “the behaviour of the job seeker prevented him or her from finding a job,” that is the responsibility of the individual in question, not of the state.

“‘Cut benefits to burqa wearers,’” from Expatica via DW
THE HAGUE – A majority in Parliament wants the government to allow municipalities to cut benefits if the recipients are unable to find a job because they wear a burqa.
A motion to this effect from Liberal VVD MP Atzo Nicolaï and Labour PvdA MP Hans Spekman was passed on Tuesday.

Coalition party PvdA and opposition party VVD are concerned about a verdict from the court in Amsterdam earlier this month. The court found in preliminary proceedings that the municipality Diemen had unlawfully docked the benefits of a Muslim woman who wears a burqa because she had been unable to find a job after four job applications.

Aboutaleb has said in earlier debates with Parliament that the case in Diemen should be put in perspective. He says it is just “one case,” while there have also been court verdicts that have found in favour of municipalities in cases where the behaviour of the job seeker prevented him or her from finding a job. One of these cases also concerned the wearing of a burqa.

Burqas: hazardous to your health

Human beings need sunshine. “Are Muslim dress codes bad for women’s health?,” by Preeti Aroon for Foreign Policy via DW

Conservative Muslim dress codes may be causing vitamin D deficiency in women by limiting their exposure to sunlight, humans’ main source for the vitamin, according to new research.
Scientists had previously found high rates of vitamin D deficiency in Arab and East Indian women living in the United Arab Emirates.
A follow-up study investigated the effect of vitamin D supplements on 178 UAE women, many of whom covered themselves entirely, faces and hands included, when outside their homes. Only two of the women did not have vitamin D deficiency prior to receiving supplements. The results were published by a team of scientists in the June issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

“I am sure most of us Muslim women would love to catch a break on the wave, go jet skiing and wake boarding, or just good old free styling, but I am more sure that most of us have given up those pleasures to seek the greatest one – that of pleasing Allah. ”

Mufti of Egypt bans female circumcision

Sort of.     He doesn’t really mean it. And his proclamation will not help 97 % of Egyptian women to get their clitoris back either…

Egypt’s state-appointed Grand Mufti said today female genital cutting is forbidden by Islam.
His pronouncement came after an 11-year-old girl died while undergoing the procedure at a private medical clinic in southern Egypt.

Genital cutting of girls, often referred to as female genital mutilation or circumcision, is banned in Egypt although the practice remains widespread as a rite of passage for girls and is often viewed as a way to protect their chastity.

“The harmful tradition of circumcision that is practised in Egypt in our era is forbidden,” Mufti Ali Gomaa was quoted as saying by the Egyptian state news agency MENA.

There are a couple of weasel words in there. Does he mean that if it is practiced in a different way from how it is practiced in Egypt in our era, it would be all right?

Ali Gomaa, the statue-hatin’, wife-beatin’, Hizballah-supportin’ Mufti of Egypt, now says that female genital mutilation is wrong, apparently reversing the Shafi’i school’s traditional judgment that it is obligatory (cf. ‘Umdat al-Salik e4.3). It will be interesting to see what actions, if any, he takes in order to back up this ruling.

London:Massive Bombing Averted
“Packed with Nails and Gas”

Associated Limp dicks of once ‘Great Britain’ report:

Robin Oakley, CNN resident poofter, politically coorrrrrect wanker of yester- year, chimes in: A ‘potential incident’- nothing more…

* nothing to worry about, move on, the IRA, ‘political problems’- people ‘who preach violent messages’- hmm, who could that be? Ah, the ‘Muslim community who are feeling targeted’- Robin Oakley, a guy so full of it it makes you choke, what an A-sole…..

carbombes_800×577.jpg

* Nothing to worry about, right? The police made it ’safe’…

* It was a just a ‘peaceful bomb’ planted by the RoP because of their grievances. Because of the misguided policies of Britain in the Middle East. Lets blame the Joozzz and get on with it, right?

Police have made safe an explosive device in London.
Officers were called to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in The Haymarket shortly before 0200 BST.

The immediate area was cordoned off while police examined what they described as a “potentially viable explosive device”.

The Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command has launched an investigation and The Haymarket is likely to remain closed for some time.

* London escaped what could have been its worst terrorist attack this morning when a car bomb packed with nails, gas canisters and containers of petrol apparently failed to detonate outside a popular West End nightclub hosting a ‘ladies’ night’.

* Pamela sez: Already the useful idiots talking heads are explaining the massive bomb as a result of “the unhappiness of the war in Iraq.” WTF is wrong with these people? As if. Islam was kicking ass, setting bombs, cutting clits, killing Jews, killing infidels, imposing sharia long before Iraq, 9/11 etc. These savages are at war with us.

Update:

Central London street sealed off amid new alert

captsgesec47290607143638photo00photodefault-345×512.jpg

AFP

Police cordoned off part of a major road in central London due to reports of a suspicious vehicle hours after a massive explosive device was defused in the capital, a spokesman said.

Amid heightened security after the overnight bomb alert, television pictures showed traffic disrupted around Park Lane, next to Hyde Park, while Sky News reported that a red London tourist bus had been stopped.

“Police are attending a suspicious incident in Park Lane,” a Scotland Yard spokeswoman told AFP. “Park Lane is closed at Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner and a 200-metre (yard) cordon is in place.”

Asked if the incident was linked to the explosive device found in a car outside a nightclub in nearby Haymarket, she said: “Not at this stage.”

She would not say whether counter-terrorism officers were in Park Lane, nor what the vehicle was.

But she confirmed that a “gold control” — the police’s highest command system during emergencies — had been set up in response to the discovery of the car bomb, which officers said could have caused carnage if it had exploded.

Reports of suspicious activity and vehicles were expected following such incidents, she added.

British authorities should ban the niqab and return to a celebration of the miniskirt

By Bob Tyrrell

Stuffy old London is all jitters about a new craze in woman’s fashion, the niqab. It is a black gown that covers the ladies from head to toe. Even their arms are covered. Two slits, somewhat reminiscent of the slits in armored personnel carriers, allow the ladies to see out. There are no openings for the nostrils. How the ladies breath is a mystery. Perhaps they carry oxygen packs.

The heavy black garment is generally worn only by British Muslims, though possibly non-Muslim British ladies are also wearing niqabs. How would one know? For that matter, how would one know if there were more than one woman under a passing niqab, or perhaps a man, or two women and a goat? That is the problem, according to British authorities. No one knows what is going on under a nearby niqab.

Frankly, I would think that religiously strict mullahs also would be alarmed. There could be a man and a woman illicitly cohabiting under a nearby niqab, or just a rude woman sticking her tongue out at him. Compared to a miniskirt or a thong, a niqab is actually quite subversive. That is the view of British authorities. Some months ago, the Labor Party politician Jack Straw barred niqab-wearing women from his offices, even if they were wearing Chanel No. 5 and whistling “G-d Save the Queen.”

The response of Western democracies to the excesses of fundamentalist Islam is approaching the absurd. There is, in our free societies, abundant precedent for limiting provocative behavior. Unfortunately, many of our liberals are susceptible to the complaints of those who hate us. They were susceptible to communists and in the 1930s they were even susceptible to Nazis. It is my hope that the British authorities will ban the niqab and return to a celebration of the miniskirt. I personally admire a woman who has nothing to hide.

6 “militants” killed in Lebanon clashes

Friday, June 29th, 2007

More “One-man’s-Terrorist-is-another-man’s-Freedom -Fighter”- reporting from AP

By SAM F. GHATTAS, Associated Press Writer

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanese troops raided an Islamic militant hideout in a hillside cave and killed six fighters Thursday as violence spread from a Palestinian refugee camp where the military has been battling an al-Qaida-inspired group.

capta9f9095fe9184987b483508dd3e61a18mideast_lebanon_violence_bei101.jpg
Lebanese soldiers and Red Cross workers carry the body of an Islamic militant who was killed in a clash with the army that occurred in the wilderness near the village of Qalamoun, some 5 kilometers (3 miles) south of the northern port city of Tripoli, Lebanon Thursday, June 28, 2007. Lebanese troops killed six Islamic militants during a gun battle in a northern Lebanon town on Thursday, a military official said. (AP Photo)

The dawn gunbattle — a 20-minute drive from the Nahr el-Bared Palestinian camp by the northern port city of Tripoli — underscored the challenges the army faces in crushing the Fatah Islam militants.

It also indicated Fatah Islam may have found allies among Sunni militants and fundamentalists in the region who were not affiliated with the group.

The fighting at Nahr el-Bared has become the worst internal violence since Lebanon’s 1975-90 civil war, and is believed to have claimed the lives of more than 160 people, including 84 soldiers, at least 60 militants and more than 20 civilians.

Fighting first began five weeks ago in Tripoli, a largely Sunni city. Then, it shifted to the Nahr el-Bared camp, after the militants barricaded themselves inside it.

Last weekend, it moved back to Tripoli, and on Thursday to the hills near Qalamoun, 3 miles south of the city.

Troops, backed by helicopters, descended on a Fatah Islam hideout obscured by dense growth in the hills above the Mediterranean coastline. The military said a number of soldiers were slightly wounded in the clashes.

The army was apparently tipped about the hideout by residents of a nearby village who had spotted strangers in the area.

An army said a unit pursuing militants in the area clashed with “a group of terrorists” barricaded inside a cave.

* Interesting. The army calls them ‘terrorists’- the MSM turns them into ‘militants’

“The force eliminated all six members of the group, seizing a quantity of arms and ammunition,” it said. The six were of different nationalities, the army said but did not identify them.

UK to spend over a million dollars to “unlock potential of Muslim women”

Another waste of taxpayers money for a bulls*#t feel good program on the road to nowhere:

Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly is announcing a new community leadership fund today to support Muslim communities to unlock the potential of women and young Muslims in making communities resilient and stronger in facing down the voices of violent extremism.
She will launch a new £650,000 Preventing Violent Extremism: Community Leadership Fund which will provide grants to programmes across the country.

Ruth Kelly believes that supporting Muslim communities to play a greater leadership role in civic life and shaping the places they live will help promote greater equality and strengthen resilience to extremism in local communities.

* Update: “Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly”…

…was fired today in a government re-shuffle. She is now Minister for Transport. However the policy will almost certainly remain unchanged.

Libtards seek to revive ‘Fairness Doctrine’

Which is, of course, a one-way street to get far left lunacy into conservative radio stations, not the other way around:

An Arizona lawmaker has proposed a federal measure to protect conservative radio talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity from regulations being pushed by liberal advocates and Democrats.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Mesa, has put forward a measure to prohibit the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. Proponents say reinstating the measure would be an attack on free speech.

Palistani Arabs in Love with Iran’s Nukes

Not that Condi Rice or her master would ever notice. Perhaps she should have a look at the history of jihad, here

By Yaakov Lappen from Ynet News (thanks to JW)

Of 37 populations around the world, Palestinians rank first in their level of support for a nuclear-armed Iran, a new poll has revealed. The survey, taken by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, found that 58 percent of the Palestinian public are in favor of Tehran acquiring atomic weapons, making Palestinians the only Middle Eastern population not opposed to an Iranian bomb.
“Most of the Muslim countries surveyed have negative or mixed opinions of Iran. Majorities among just three Muslim publics – in Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Palestinian territories – say they favor Iran acquiring nuclear weapons,” the survey said.

The poll added that “positive views of Iran have declined sharply over the past year in three Muslim countries – Indonesia, Egypt, and, especially, Turkey.”

When it came to attitudes towards the US, Israel and the Palestinians were placed, unsurprisingly, on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Unsurprisingly? When you consider all the money the U.S. has poured into the PA, one would think Palestinians would be overflowing with gratitude. But of course, this sort of thing never wins over the hearts and minds of those who are imbued with jihadist attitudes — which doesn’t stop American officials from trying it over and over again anyway.

* Comment from JW: For the past 14 centuries, islamic territory is expanding and infidel territory is shrinking. Kosovo is falling. Kashmir and Chechenya will be next and the infidels will end up bombing each other in trying to appease the muslims. The U.S. has already bombed the Serbs, it may end up bombing India and Russia over Kashmir and Chechenya. jihad continues. Successfully.

Abbas outlaws weapons…on paper only

We keep hearing the same old rhetoric used to describe the new and improved moderate Fatah government: “New Government,” “New Opportunity,” “Fresh Start,” etc. PA and Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Abbas continues to play his role in this ugly game to perfection. In the true spirit of “moderation,” he has outlawed all weapons that are not in the hands of his Security Service (S.S.). “Abbas bans carrying explosives, arms without license in W. Bank,” from Ha’aretz :

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday outlawed all armed Palestinian groups except for the official PA security services.
“On the basis of the declaration of a state of emergency in the Palestinian territories, and by virtue of my authority, all armed militias, groups and brigades that do not belong in practice to the security services shall be treated as illegal organizations,” read the first order.

BAGHDAD - Bombing kills 22 at Baghdad bus station

AP Photo: A woman passes destroyed vehicles at a bus station in the Baiyaa neighborhood in Baghdad,…

while a parked car bomb killed another 20 people in one of the capital’s busy outdoor bus stations, police said.
The beheaded remains were found in the Sunni Muslim village of Um al-Abeed, near the city of Salman Pak, which lies 14 miles southeast of Baghdad.

The bodies — all men aged 20 to 40 years old — had their hands and legs bound, and some of the heads were found next to the bodies, two officers said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.

Meanwhile, a parked car bomb ripped through a crowded transport hub in southwest Baghdad’s Baiyaa neighborhood at morning rush hour, killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 50, another officer said on the same condition.
