Main plotter in Mumbai bomb attacks gets death

MUMBAI: An anti-terror court in India yesterday sentenced to death one of the main conspirators behind serial bomb blasts in Mumbai in 1993 that killed 257 people, prosecutors said.
Yaqub Memon, the brother of the alleged main plotter and fugitive Tiger Memon, faces the gallows for his role in the devastating “Black Friday” attacks which also injured more than 800 people.
His brothers Essa and Yusuf and sister-in-law Rubina were each sentenced to life in prison.
The attacks were believed to have been staged by Mumbai’s Muslim-dominated underworld in retaliation for deadly Hindu-Muslim clashes a few months earlier.

“The court gave (the) death sentence to Yaqub for distributing funds and assisting acts of terror,” chief prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.
“This is the message to main conspirator Tiger Memon that terrorist acts will always get what they deserve.”
Tiger Memon and Dawood Ibrahim, the alleged masterminds of the blasts, have been on the run since 1993. Indian investigators say they were helped by Pakistan’s intelligence service, a charge denied by Islamabad.
The prosecutor said Yaqub, an accountant by profession, is also facing new charges of contempt of court after he insulted the judge, Pramod Kode, by saying: “Lord, forgive this man for he knows not what he does.”
Sister-in-law Rubina is the first woman to be sentenced to life in the case.
“She allowed her car to be used to carry explosives,” the prosecutor said.
So far, 96 of the 100 people convicted in the case have been sentenced, with 12 receiving the death penalty and 20 getting life sentences in jail.
They can appeal their punishments and India’s Supreme Court stipulates that the death penalty be used only in the “rarest of rare cases”.
Death sentences are regularly delayed indefinitely or commuted by the president.
The most high-profile figure caught up in the case, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, appeared in court yesterday, but his sentencing is likely next Tuesday.
Dutt, who is on bail, was found guilty of possessing weapons last year but was cleared of the more serious charge of conspiracy in connection with the attacks. The hugely popular Dutt faces up to five years in prison.
Illegal bookies have taken an estimated Rs1.1bn ($27mn) in bets on what Dutt’s sentence will be, the Times of India reported.
The newspaper quoted a source as saying that most were gambling on the probability his plea for probation will be rejected, and that he will receive at least three years in jail.
“For every rupee, a bettor stands to make Rs1.4,” the source told the newspaper. Most of the bets have come from in and around his hometown Mumbai.–AFP

Cowardice is one thing, but what’s not tolerable is when they sympathize with or dissemble for the terrorists.
Islamic terror in India, like that terror everywhere else, is never ignored by sites like this one. And that’s all that really counts. If I want the latest scoop on the atrocities committed by the peaceful ones I go to sites like these-I quit watching network news long ago because of their omissions and distortions.

Unfortunately, the media sources do not report the facts anymore – their agenda is their driving force. And their agenda seems to be whatever the Saudis/CAIR want them to report – that islam is good and peaceful. The reporters don’t get out of the motels quite often and only take the words of the ones who started the violence while they are trying to claim they are the victims. We saw this oh so often in the Lebanon/Israeli war, and we see this now whenever Israel gets sick of the daily bombing coming in from Lebanon, the Gaza, or elsewhere and strike back. The muslims get all in a frenzy and blame the Jews – and the news media believes their claims. These days the Israeli children all know the drill when the sirens start – they have 15 seconds to duck and cover. It is a daily occurance because it seems that the muslims aim for schools and places such as that.
In fact, we see this in all the places that muslims reside – the commit the violence and then they claim victimhood if their victims retaliate – or even look at them crosseyed.
In England there is a trial going on right now where some R of P followers are accused of killing a 14 year old girl, after using her as a sex toy, and disposing of her body to us infidels as kebab meat. Virtual media blackout.
This is the type of “story” that would inspire horror films!
Also, about 3 weeks ago, a man in Stoke was knifed to death on his front lawn, in front of his family by 5 friendly neighbours, who just happened to be members of the moon god appreciation society. Not a ripple in the papers. The victim happened to be a BNP member.
Had 5 BNP members surrounded a paki on his front lawn and killed him, there would be a national day of mourning, after the story had been front page news and the 1st item on the TV news.
One angle: The internationalists view the West’s cultural superiority as a stumbling block to their aspirations. If we can only be humiliated and humbled we might see things their way. The terrorists are their proxies.

The timing of whatever incident “causes” a given Islamic “retaliation” is immaterial; they’re quite willing to “retaliate” in advance of any “offense” to their delicate sensibilities. They’re also willing to invent “offenses” which have never actually occurred. And if they can’t even invent an offense, they’ll whine about fearing some kind of “backlash” of the local populace to the latest violent actions of their “tiny minority of extremists who all misunderstand Islam in exactly the same way in all countries around the globe”.
