Wie die Zeitung «Al-Watan» am Sonntag berichtete, kontaktierte die saudi-arabische Botschaft in Den Haag nun das niederländische Aussenministerium und verlangte eine Entschuldigung.
«Die Botschaft hat die niederländische Seite aufgefordert, solche Erklärungen und Handlungen zu stoppen», meldete das saudi- arabische Blatt weiter. Die beiden heiligsten Stätten des Islam liegen in Saudi-Arabien.
Wilders, der seit dem Mord an dem Filmemacher und Islamkritiker Theo van Gogh 2004 unter strenger Bewachung lebt, hatte in einem Interview auch gegen den Propheten Mohammed gewettert.
«Wenn Mohammed heute noch leben würde, könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass ich ihn als Extremisten geteert und gefedert aus dem Land jagen würde», sagte er der Zeitung «De Pers».
* Translation: ‘If Muhammad was alive today he would be tarred and fettered and chased out of the country…’

The Saudis are seething because Geert Wilders is calling for the Koran to be banned.
This would be the same tolerant Saudis who ban “alcoholic beverages, pork and pork products, prohibited drugs and narcotics, firearms, explosives, edged weapons and pornographic materials … articles belonging to religions other than Islam … may include Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious symbols such as the Star of David, and others.”
