Is it that women are better than animals and children or just that it is more important to keep them looking good? And would he feel that children should get the benefit of no strikes to the face or is that protection just extended to women and camels?

I think that the take home message from this is that if men would get their beating duties done before they get really mad they would have less to do once they are truly angry.

When a Daily Kos author recently recommended that we end terrorism by everyone becoming Muslim it might have seemed crazy – but now I see that their will be other benefits. Once everyone joins Islam, the women’s rights and anti-child abuse activists will have to decide whether to fold up their organizations and retire or start being concerned about what people like Muhammad Al-’Arifi say on TV. And in books. And in mosques. And in religious schools. And to others in social situations. They might even have to consider contradicting such people publicly and risk being seen as a racist.

Now, this would involve packing up most of the gains that Western society has made. Things like gender equality, the equality of people before the law regardless of religion, keeping various spheres of society such as politics, justice, religion, education, health care and the like separate took a long time to build up to today’s levels in Western society. But sometimes you just need to go back to square one and try again. It is a progressive plan to be sure.

But let’s give Dr. Mo some credit here. He IS firm on not hitting the wife in the face (and seems like an animal lover to boot)and acknowledges that a wife is actually a human being! For this crowd, this qualifies as revolutionary, enlightened thinking. Almost worthy of the death fatwa.
