The 2007 Human Development Report calls on wealthy nations to not only slash their greenhouse gas emissions but also to provide $86 billion by 2015 to help the world’s poor adapt to global warming.

“We have less than a decade to avoid dangerous climate change,” UN official Papa Seck of Senegal told an Ottawa news conference.

“That doesn’t mean safe climate change, there is no such thing. It just means not a catastrophe.”

Cabinet warns Wilders on anti-Koran film

Police are investigating the dumping of pigs’ heads at the site of a proposed Islamic school at Camden in Sydney’s south-west.

Three Christians, including a pastor and a missionary were murdered by Muslims in Turkey in April. They were bound hand and foot, stabbed multiple times, and had their throats cut.

The five killers, who are all Muslims, have admitted that they targeted their victims because of their religion, so you might think that the motive for the killings is not unconnected with the religion of the killers.

But according to the BBC you’d be wrong: they didn’t carry out the killings because they were Muslims, but because they were ‘nationalists’. Under the headline ‘Turks in Christian murder trial’ it reports:

Five men are to go on trial in eastern Turkey, accused of killing three Christians earlier this year.

The Christians, who included a pastor and a German missionary, were stabbed repeatedly and had their throats cut.

The suspects, aged 19 and 20, were detained at the scene of the crime, a Protestant publishing house in Malatya.

The M word finally appears in paragraph four, but not to tell us that the killers were Muslims, but rather that the victims weren’t Muslims:

The murders prompted three Christian families to leave the town. Germany has accused Turkey of “unacceptable intolerance” towards non-Muslims.

Well, here are a few facts that might help the new coterie of Islam-bashers retract ill-informed statements:
a) there is no verse in the Qur’an that calls for the killing of apostates;
b) the Prophet Mohammed did not kill several people who freely left Islam;
c) Sufyan al-Thawri, a second-generation Muslim, clearly stated that ex-Muslims should be free to exercise their will;
d) the four schools of Muslim jurisprudential thought that endorsed the killing of apostates did so on grounds of treason and sedition, not theology;
e) the 1843-44 Ottoman reforms enshrined the right of Muslims to accept other religions without state punishment.

* Ed Husain engages kitman & taqiyya in order to protect the Islamic ideology from the prying eyes of irritated infidels who demand answers. He knows very well where the relevant verses are:

a. “The punishment for apostasy (riddah) is well-known in Islaamic Sharee’ah. The one who leaves Islaam will be asked to repent by the Sharee’ah judge in an Islaamic country; if he does not repent and come back to the true religion, he will be killed as a kaafir and apostate, because of the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3017).

b. Here Husain sets up strawmen to knock them over: of course Muhammed had those killed who left the ‘religion’- does it matter whether he killed them himself or that he sent his assassins after them?

c. More smoke and mirrors: Sufyan al-Thawri was an irrelevant scholar. Although there might be a great number of ‘recorded anecdotes’ none of it is relevant to mainstream Islam, neither in Sunni or Shia traditions.

* The relevant scholars are: Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Da’ud, al-Timidhi, al Sughra and Ibn Maja. But even here only the first 3 are said to be ‘authentic’

d. Here Husain blames ‘treason and sedition’, not theology for the killing of apostates, which is equally absurd. Since the Islamic ideology is a concept of total warfare apostasy is automatically ‘treason and sedition’- 1400 years of jihad warfare against the rest of the world prove it without any doubt.

e. 1843-44 Ottoman reforms? Irrelevant, completely irrelevant when we took a look at how Muslim Egypt, Pakistan, Malysia or Indonesia or any other Muslim country treats its non-Muslim minorities. Besides, dhimmitude is very much enshrined in the sharia and in the Koran, so again we must accuse Husain of pulling the Islamic wool over infidel eyes and ears.

Ibn Kathir writes that this verse refers to Muslims gaining upper hand over idolaters. If we though that Allah is merciful to the Christians and the Jews, we are wrong. The Qur’an treats the Jews and the Christians as idolaters.

Although there is undeniably a racial aspect to these riots, dhimmitude is deeply rooted in the Islamic system: Dhimmis, “protected people,” are free to practice their religion in a Sharia regime, but are made subject to a number of humiliating regulations designed to enforce the Qur’an’s command that they “feel themselves subdued” (Sura 9:29). This denial of equality of rights and dignity remains part of the Sharia, and, as such, is part of the law that global jihadists are laboring to impose everywhere, ultimately on the entire human race.

Kuala Lumpur, Nov. 25 (AP): Police today used tear gas and water cannons to crush a banned rally by more than 10,000 ethnic minority Indians — a rare street clash that exposed Muslim Malaysia’s deep racial divisions.

Slogan-shouting protesters hurled water bottles and stones at the police, who chased them through streets surrounding the famous Petronas Twin Towers and doused them repeatedly with tear gas and chemical-laced water for more than eight hours. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Witnesses saw people being beaten and dragged into trucks by the police. Shoes and broken flower pots littered the scene after protesters scattered to hide in hotels and shops. Organisers said hundreds of people were detained by the time the protesters dispersed.

The rally — rooted in complaints that the ethnic Malay Muslim-dominated government discriminates against minorities — was the largest protest in at least a decade involving ethnic Indians, the country’s second-biggest minority after the Chinese and the most underprivileged.

“This gathering is unprecedented,” said protest leader P. Uthayakumar. “This is a community that can no longer tolerate discrimination.”

It was the second such street protest in Kuala Lumpur this month. A rally on November 10, that drew thousands of people, demanding electoral reforms was also broken up with similar force, but lasted only a few hours.

Street demonstrations are extremely rare in multi-ethnic Malaysia, which prides itself on its communal and political stability. The two protests indicate that Malaysians are becoming bolder about venting their frustrations publicly against a political system that concentrates power and influence in the hands of the Malay ruling elite.

Today’s rally was meant to support a $4 trillion lawsuit filed in London in August by the Hindu Rights Action Force, a Malaysian rights group, demanding that Britain compensate Malaysian Indians for bringing their ancestors to the country as “indentured labourers” and exploiting them.

Ethnic Indians say discrimination continued after Malaysia’s independence in 1957 because of an affirmative action policy favouring Malays, who form about 60 per cent of the country’s 27 million people. Ethnic Chinese, who comprise a quarter of the population, have similar complaints.

Activists say more than two-thirds of ethnic Indians, who constitute about 8 per cent of the population, live in poverty, with many trapped in a cycle of alcoholism and crime.

Samy Vellu, the government’s top ethnic Indian politician, denounced today’s protest as “an Opposition ploy to smear the government’s image”.

“We do not support street demonstrations,” Samy said in a statement. “We have been working within the system to resolve the problems faced by the Indian community.”

Today, thousands of ethnic Indians — some of whom carried pictures of Mahatma Gandhi and banners that read “We want our rights” — gathered before dawn near the Petronas towers.

Thousands more gathered in Batu Caves, a Hindu temple in a limestone cave on the city’s outskirts, hoping to join the others in a march to the British high commission.

“If they push us against the wall, we don’t know what will happen,” demonstrator Lingam Suppiah said. “The day must come when the time bomb will explode. We cannot be patient forever.”

The police had obtained an unprecedented court order prohibiting the public from rallying. On Friday, three of the Hindu group’s leaders were arrested and charged with sedition.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Zulhasnan Najib Baharudin declined to say how many people were arrested today.
