The first Guantanamo Bay detainee to be convicted by an American military tribunal will be released from prison on Saturday — but six years of harsh treatment in US custody leave him ill-prepared to readjust to normal life, a psychologist says. (he fought with al-Qaeda against America, he feel blessed to still be alive -ed.)

Australian-born David Hicks, who was captured in Afghanistan in 2001, plead guilty earlier this year to charges of providing material support for al- Qaeda terrorists. As part of his plea deal, Hicks was transferred to Australia to serve out the remainder of his sentence.

Appearing in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Monash University psychology professor James Ogloff said that Guantanamo had left a broken Hicks to fend for himself in the free world.

“In some very restrictive regimes, and Guantánamo Bay will fall into that category, the environments are actually designed to break people down,” said Ogloff. “There’s no long term goal of rehabilitating people or having them return to the community. (since when are we in the business of rehabilitating terrorists? -ed.) So the issues that the individual faces is, in fact, being broken into pieces and having to really be put back together.”

During his time at Guantanamo, Hicks alleges that he was beaten, sedated and forced to take unidentified medication, among other abuses.

“They become very anxious and nervous,” he said. “The vast majority of people develop headaches, have problems sleeping, become angry and irritable, have emotional mood swings, high degrees of depression.” (is that suppose to make us feel bad for them? Headaches, wow that’s serious/-ed.)

Haaretz Editor Asked US Secretary of State to “Rape” Israel

(IsraelNN.com) Haaretz’s Chief Editor asked US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to “rape” Israel, using other unsavory terminology as well in his request for American pressure.

The comments were made during a confidential briefing by Rice on September 10, during one of many visits to the Jewish state. The meeting was attended by about 20 heads of the most senior Israeli think tanks and media leaders, including Landau, at the residence of US Ambassador Richard Jones. Some reported that Landau’s remarks were greeted with “blatant discomfort” by some of those present.

Landau, who was seated next to Rice, referred to Israel as a “failed state” politically, and said that a US-imposed settlement is the only thing that can save it. He asked Rice to intervene, going so far as to say that the Israeli government wanted “to be raped” and that it would bring him much satisfaction to see this happen.

Pali savages murder 2 Israeli hikers

Two Israelis from Kiryat Gat were shot and killed in an attack in the West Bank on Friday, police said.

The two were IDF soldiers on leave, Private Ahikam Amihai (20) and Sergeant David Rubin (21). According to Israel Radio, the two were hiking through the hills outside Hebron with another woman when they were approached by a jeep carrying several Palestinian gunmen, who opened fire on them. The woman fled and hid while the other two, who were armed, returned fire.

In the exchanges of fire that ensued, the two managed to hit several of the gunmen before being gunned down themselves. According to Palestinian sources quoted by Army Radio, one of the attackers was killed on the spot while another was seriously wounded and died some time later. Security forces believe that two other gunmen were lightly wounded, the radio station reported.

A PERTH Muslim school has been shut down for focusing too heavily on religious instruction, as its director was charged with fraud over the alleged theft of $355,934 from the college’s federal funding.

State Education Minister Mark McGowan yesterday closed Muslim Ladies College in Kenwick after a departmental investigation found the school was employing unregistered teachers and failing to comply with the West Australian curriculum.

With only five days to go until the end of term, Mr McGowan said departmental staff were working with parents to place their children in new schools from next year.

A separate police investigation has resulted in the arrest of the kindergarten to Year 12 school’s acting director, Zubair Sayed.

Mr Sayed, who has been filling in as director of the school in Perth’s southeastern suburbs since his brother Anwar went to Afghanistan earlier this year, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with fraud.

Police prosecutor Scott McCormick told the court Mr Sayed wrote a Commonwealth Bank cheque for $355,934, drawing on federal government funding for the college.

It is also alleged the school had been overclaiming for both state and federal government funding.

“This is a matter which is of extreme seriousness, whereby Mr Sayed obtained public money from the commonwealth by deceit,” Sergeant McCormick said.

He told the court that detectives had discovered the money had been sent to Pakistan.

Mr Sayed was granted bail to reappear on January 2.

The Australian Federal Police said yesterday they were aware of the investigation but that at this stage it remained a state investigation.

Yesterday, Mr McGowan said the school, which had been inspected by the Education Department at least eight times this year, was not teaching students the subjects required under the curriculum.

“The school was not meeting the curriculum framework, with some of the students there undertaking religious instruction on a daily basis for 43 per cent of their time at school,” he said.

“At all schools around the state we expect they will spend at least 50 per cent of their time on literacy and numeracy so when a school is spending 43 per cent of its time on religious instruction it is not meeting that requirement.

“I have taken strong action, the strongest action really available to me, and that is to close that school.”

Mr McGowan said staff at the school had reported the problems to the department, which began its investigation in December last year.

Qalat: A man named Mumtaz in southern Zabul province of Afghanistan first shaved wife, Nazia’s head and then cut off her ears, and nose and damaged her teeth on the first day of Eid ul Adha, an Islamic ritual of sacrifice.

Hospital sources in Qalat, center of Zabul, told this scribe by phone that Nazia, 17, was admitted on Wednesday (First day of Eid) evening and now she was in a critical condition due to the severe beating she has borne.

Provincial Police Chief of Zabul, Gen. Mohammad Yaqub Khan, when contacted, confirmed this brutal incident and confessed that the police were still unable to arrest the man.

‘The police are searching for him, he has disappeared’ Khan added.

Moreover, he told that a brother of the culprit was police officer who is currently under investigation.

Once again: Egypt’s Christian Copt’s are the victims of Islamic Terror

As the Copts of the Upper Egyptian town of Esna, north of Luxor, celebrated the traditional Kiyahk Midnight Praise on the eve of Sunday 16 December, the church of the holy Virgin, where a large congregation had gathered for worship, was attacked with stones and rocks. Kiyahk is the month which precedes Christmas and its Midnight Praise is a widely popular service distinguished by its characteristic tunes and melodies which are sung all through the night and conclude with Holy Mass at dawn. The attack on the church resulted in no casualties, but the mob which had initiated the attack fanned out on motorcycles in the streets of Esna attacking, torching, and plundering shops owned by Copts. The shops were closed since it was past nine o’clock in the evening, so the damage was limited to property and merchandise; the owners and workers had already left. The usual Muslim jihadi slogans of “There is no god but Allah” and “On to jihad” filled the Upper Egyptian cold night air. The rampage continued till the wee hours of dawn.

The words “war on terror” will no longer be used by the British government to describe attacks on the public, the country’s chief prosecutor said Dec. 27.
Sir Ken Macdonald said terrorist fanatics were not soldiers fighting a war but simply members of an aimless “death cult.”

The Director of Public Prosecutions said: ‘We resist the language of warfare, and I think the government has moved on this. It no longer uses this sort of language.”

London is not a battlefield, he said.

“The people who were murdered on July 7 were not the victims of war. The men who killed them were not soldiers,” Macdonald said. “They were fantasists, narcissists, murderers and criminals and need to be responded to in that way.”

His remarks signal a change in emphasis across Whitehall, where the “war on terror” language has officially been ditched.

Officials were concerned it could act as a recruiting tool for Al Qaeda, which is determined to manufacture a battle between Islam and the West.

Bin Laden pissed off with Al Jizz

DUBAI (Reuters) - An Islamist Web site said on Friday it would carry a new recording from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden about “foiling plots” in Iraq.

“May God expose the cover-up by Al Jazeera, the channel of the infidels,” said the Web site, which is often used to issue messages from al Qaeda.

It was not clear whether this meant bin Laden would speak about a controversy in which his supporters have accused the popular news channel of misrepresenting his comments on Iraq.

Colombo - God signed His name in the tsunami that battered Sri Lanka and other countries on December 26, and sent it as punishment because humans have been ignoring His laws, Sri Lankan Muslims say.

Proof, according to Mohamed Faizeen, manager of the Centre for Islamic Studies in Colombo, is a satellite picture taken seconds after the tsunami smashed into Sri Lanka’s west coast near the town of Kalutara and as it was receding.

“This clearly spells out the name ‘Allah’ in Arabic,” Faizeen said, pointing to the shape of the waves - a gigantic “E” complete with whorls and sidewaves that do indeed appear to combine to resemble the Arabic script for the name “Allah”.

Iran’s regime uses the Jews again for publicity damage control

Following yesterday’s dramatic news of 40 Jews immigrating to Israel from Iran, the Iranian government has again marched out the leaders of the Jewish community in the country to do their public relations damage control. Maurice Motamed, the only Jewish member of the Iranian parliament and Ciamak Morsathegh, who heads the Tehran Jewish Committee were both out in full force chatting with CNN , and other western media news outlets trying to portray the lives of Jews in Iran as “safe” and supposedly free from Anti-semitism. In an effort to combat the negative publicity about the Iranian government generated yesterday and make Iran sound like the “garden of Eden” for Jews, both Motamed and Morsathegh were almost parroting the same words Iran’s fundamentalist Islamic leaders have been saying recently about the country’s 20,000 Jews:

“We are one of the oldest communities in Iran. We are free to practice our religion. Anti-Semitism is a Western phenomenon but Jews have never been in danger in Iran. We are Iranian Jews and are proud of our nationality. No amount of money can encourage us to give up Iran. Our nationality is not up for sale,” Morsathegh said.


The hope of the mullahs who hold the true power in Iran is to reverse the bad press they have been getting as anti-Semitic jihadists. Undoubtedly news of 40 Jew leaving Iran in a covert mission is embarrassing to the regime who is trying to curry favor with European countries whom they want to trade with. What better way to combat any anti-Semitic rhetoric Iran’s President spews than to march out the countries Jews and have them say “great things” about the regime! You may wonder why the Jewish community leaders in Iran are so willing to praise the regime that is holding them hostage. The answer is simple…duress! They say whatever their captors tell them to say or else all Jews in Iran will suffer unknown persecution. For this reason, comments made by Motamed and other Jews in Iran lack all credibility.

Church bells go silent in Gaza

As the crowded church was belting out hallelujahs, I stepped into the church courtyard for some fresh air.

The Muslim call to prayer was beginning to echo from the myriad of mosques all around.

I thought how this reflected the situation in Gaza in Christmas 2007 - that while the muezzin were on loudspeaker, the church bells here are played from a cassette tape.

A nervous young nun adjusted the volume - loud enough to peel through the church but not to penetrate its walls - it might risk offending Muslim Gazans passing by.

I was reminded by this story of the text of the 7th century “Pact of Umar”, in which Chrisitans, when surrendering to Islam, agreed to silence their bells: “We shall use only [wooden] clappers in our churches very softly.”

The prohibition on ringing bells was one of the universal restrictions imposed by Islamic law upon ‘dhimmis’ - non-Muslims living under Islam after conquest. The bells of Middle Eastern Christians fell silent for more than a thousand years, until the European Powers dismantled the dhimmi system during the 19th and 20th centuries. Now the age-old discriminatory laws are being enforced again, and Hamas is proving as good as its word, for when it took power in Gaza the local Christians were told that as they were now in a full Islamic system they ‘must accept Islamic law’. The silence of the bells bears witness that Hamas has told the truth about its intentions.

* Dhimmi Christians in denial:

The silence is bad enough, but what distressed me most about Adler’s report was her claim - paradoxically in the very same article - that “There is no evidence to suggest the Hamas government here officially discriminates against Christians…”

This Christmas season Gazan Christians are being resubjected to the odious, humiliating discriminations of the dhimmi system. This makes Christmas a very good time for the rest of the world to wake up and pay attention to the stark historical reality of dhimmi Christians’ lives under Islamic rule, and to the intolerable reimposition of these conditions in many Muslim societies in the present day.

MUSLIM leaders have sparked outrage with plans to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer over the roof-tops of one of Britain’s most historic cities.

Elders at Oxford Central Mosque want to blast it out three times a day.

* How’s that for being ‘moderate?’ Give ‘em time, let them prepare the ground! Later on they can get their 5 prayers , even at 4 in the morning…

They have already discussed the controversial idea with council chiefs and are set to submit a formal application in the New Year.

But the move has been met with fury by people living near the mosque in Oxford – known as the city of dreaming spires.

They claim the two-minute call – to be broadcast over three large speakers – is noise pollution and offensive to other faiths.

Dr Allan Chapman said: “This has nothing to do with the Muslim faith. If this is allowed to go ahead it will be intrusive and distasteful.

“People will have no choice but to have this message rammed down their throats. My fear is that it will lead to anger and resentment.

“The area does not have a huge population of Muslims and this is grossly unfair on everyone else.”

* Well, that can be changed. Wait and see….

WITH dreary predictability, our two leading Christian clerics have each used their Christmas messages this year to mouth fashionable political orthodoxies.

The Anglican Church used to be described as the Tory Party at prayer. Today, it is Labour on its knees. In his sermon yesterday the Archbishop of Canter bury, like an earnest Left-wing activist, prattled on about the threat to the environment from “humanity’s selfishness”, warning how our “greed” could “distort the balance of things”.

His opposite number in the Catholic Church, the Arch bishop of Westminster Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor, was even more politically correct. In his address at midnight mass he attacked Britain’s supposed failure to embrace immigration. Urging that we do more to welcome migrants, he moaned that too many arrivals “feel excluded simply because they are outsiders”.

Only someone completely divorced from reality could come up with such bilge. If Britain is really such an inhospitable place for immigrants, why are millions of them flocking here?

The fact is that no country in the Western world makes life easier for migrants, giving them benefits, housing, jobs and support and even encouraging them to cling on to their cultures rather than adopt a new British identity. 

That is precisely why the hundreds of young men at the new Sangette camp near Calais are so desperate to cross the Channel.

One Muslim at the camp, Hawar Said from Iraq, ex plained last week why he was so keen to reach England. “I will get a passport, money, a flat. It is a dream for me.” He has shown a far greater understanding of how the system really works than the Cardinal.

Indeed, the Catholic Arch bishop’s words are a travesty of the truth. The people really made to feel unwelcome in modern Britain are those who dare to question the destruction of our country through mass immigration. 

They find themselves accused of racism or intolerance because they object to their jobs being taken, their wages cut, their heritage traduced and their taxes spent on welfare for foreigners.

If the Cardinal wants a cause worth supporting, it is his own religion, not the import of yet more alien culture into Britain.
