* Recently we had some Muslim posters here, trying to tell us that the global jihad is all ‘invented by the mass-media’- that all these conflicts from Kashmir to Mindanao and from Sulawesi to Sudan are ‘regional conflicts’, and have ‘nothing at all to do with Islam’. But today we are listening once again to what good Muslims tell us, and these ‘good Muslims’ confirm everything and more: that the global jihad is indeed the ultimate quest to make the wold Islamic and to establish a caliphate, according to sharia law.
“We [Join] the Mujahideen in the Global Islamic War Against the Cross”
Somali jihadists insist that they are part of a global jihad that the learned analysts aren’t sure exists at all. “Harakat Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen Calls to Attack Capitals of African Countries Participating In Peacekeeping Force in Somalia: ‘We [Join] the Mujahideen in the Global Islamic War Against the Cross,'” from MEMRI via JW
On January 3, 2008, the Islamist forum http://ek-ls.org (hosted by NOC4Hosts Inc. in Florida, USA) posted a communiqué titled “As You Condemn Others, So You Will Be Condemned” by the terrorist group Harakat Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen. In the communiqué the group threatens to attack the capitals of African countries which are participating in the peacekeeping force in Somalia.
“… We stress that we will retaliate. Whoever banishes Muslim nations [from their lands] grants us permission to banish his people [from their land]; whoever kills our women – we shall kill his women; whoever attacks our dignity – we shall give him what he deserves; whoever turns our mothers into widows and our children into orphans – we shall turn his mother into a widow and increase [the number of] his orphans…”
“The soldiers and people of the states that are participating in the occupation of our country have become part of the Crusader alliance led by the global criminal Bush, and [partners in] the war he is waging on all the Muslims. Thereby, they have made themselves targets for attacks by the Muslims who are protecting themselves and their religion.
“And just as they rallied under the banner of the global Crusade against Islam, we [now join] the mujahideen in the global Islamic war against the Cross; just as the Abyssinians [Ethiopians] are helped by their brethren, the worshippers of the Cross, so do we have our Muslim brethren in all the countries of the world, including the countries from which [the soldiers of the peacekeeping force in Somalia] come – [namely] Ethiopia, Uganda, Burundi and so on… They stand with us and we stand with them against [our] common Crusader enemy.”

* What I found interesting here is the head of the Taliban in Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud, is the chief aide and disciple of Tahir Yaldeshiv, who is the leader of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. Further blurring the lines between the Taliban and al-Qaeda….
Islamabad, 17 Jan. -Two al-Qaeda leaders in the north of Pakistan have called on their supporters to wage a new Jihad against security forces and seize control of Islamabad.
In a graphic video sent to Adnkronos International (AKI), Takfiri militants Qadri Tahir Yaldeshiv (Photo) and Abdul Khaliq Haqqani called for urgent action against the armed forces to avenge the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) operation in 2007.
“Jihad is compulsory in Pakistan as it is compulsory in Afghanistan,” Tahir said in the video message.
Sitting on a chair reading notes from a laptop computer flanked by a black flag, Tahir talked about the need for strict Sharia law in Pakistan.
“Pakistan came into being on the name of Islam, therefore Islam should be enforced in the country,” he said in the video.
Tahir Yaldeshiv’s closest aide and disciple Baitullah Mehsud, alleged to be responsible for the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, was said to have been behind the fort attack.
Tahir Yaldeshiv, the chief of the Islamic movement of Uzbekistan and the chief of Uzbek militants in North Waziristan, called for a Jihad against Pakistani forces.
The video also shows what are said to be images of a government offensive in the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan in October 2007, including footage of dead soldiers and destroyed vehicles. It also shows graphic footage of a man slitting the throat of a Pakistani soldier.
