In November 2004, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters raised concerns about Abdille, asking questions in Parliament of the Immigration Minister at the time, Paul Swain.
Speaking under parliamentary privilege, Mr Peters said the woman had a “police record a mile long” and had been “bludging off the New Zealand taxpayer” for 10 years.
He said she had been trying to bring 14 of her relatives to New Zealand and had a record of convictions that would make Al Capone proud.

Netherlands Catholic Church promotes ‘Christian Ramadan.’

AMSTERDAM, 09/02/08 – The Catholic church is propagating its Lent fast this year as the ‘Christian Ramadan.’ It is thereby hoping to appeal to young people, De Volkskrant reports.
“The image of the Catholic Lent must be burnished. The fact that we use a Muslim term is related to the fact that Ramadan is a better-known concept among young people than Lent,” said campaign leader Van der Kuil Het of the Lent fast, which began on Wednesday.
In the past, the Catholic church had strict rules for the Lent period of 40 days before Easter. But since 1967, the action has focused on collecting funds for the third world. “Now we also want to bring back spirituality and sobriety,” according to Van der Kuil.

Wilders describes the Koran as a Fascist Book
The Hague, 8 Feb. (AKI) – Dutch politician Geert Wilders has described the Koran as a “fascist book” and reaffirmed what he calls “the clear superiority of Christian culture over that of Muslims.”

Wilders has been under heavy police protection since the 2004 murder of Dutch director and columnist Theo van Gogh. Van Gogh was killed by a radical Muslim after he directed a film criticising women’s position in Islam.
