Death row Bali bomber Amrozi to marry again

* Anger in KRuddistan:

Anger in Australia … Bali bomber Amrozi has been given permission to marry.

 * Thanks to Rosie

HE is about to be executed for his role in the Bali bombings but smiling assassin Amrozi has won approval for a death row wedding service – despite being already married to another woman.

In the latest perverse act of compassion from the Indonesian authorities, the man who faces death for the murder of 202 people, including 88 Australians, will enjoy a private wedding ceremony inside his cell.

The man believed to be marrying the couple is radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, who has visited Amrozi in jail and who attended one of his previous marriage ceremonies.

Amrozi will remarry his first wife, whom he divorced more than 20 years ago, while remaining married to his current wife.

The decision has been attacked by the Rudd Government and condemned by families of the Bali bombing victims.

The protests are unlikely to sway Jakarta, with authorities confirming Amrozi has a right to marry, but will not be allowed a honeymoon or conjugal visit.

* Don’t bet on it…

Amrozi’s brothers were claiming no knowledge of his upcoming nuptials, set for May 12, however lawyers and jail officials confirmed the union and the date.

The 45-year-old former village mechanic-turned-terrorist killer will remarry Siti Rohma, with whom he has a 20-year-old son. The couple first married in 1985 and divorced just two years later. Lawyer Achmad Michdan, who visited his client in jail, said the identity of the preacher who would marry and bless the couple was being kept a “secret” however talk suggested it could be Abu Bakar Bashir.

And Amrozi’s older and more fiery brother Mukhlas, who is on death row with him and who is a preacher, is expected to give the main sermon at the wedding ceremony.
