This cleric is a total idiot. She is a dancer and an artist. Not my type of music, but my wife loves her and I recognize that she is an incredibly talented person, even if I’m more of a heavy metal kinda guy. This is another example of religion spreading negativity, hatred, and censorship. Shakira makes people happy with her music, and she makes them want to get up and dance, and enjoy being alive. And for that, this religious dolt calls her a whore. Whose side are you on? All religions serve only to limit the human capacity for creativity and independent thought, whether it’s Christianity, Judaism, Islam, whatever. Shakira has also been involved with massive charitable projects aimed at helping impoverished people. So not only does she make millions of people happy with her music, she is a force for good in the world. She helps people who need it most. All this doltish cleric has to offer is to call her a whore and advocate censorship. Which one is making the world better and which one is making it worse? The answer is obvious, and people who think like this cleric belong in the 1500s; there is no place for you here in the future with us, the rational people.

I absolutely agree, Shakira has no talent as a singer, she’s only famous because she’s beautiful, but when it comes to real talent she lacks that. People claim is not her looks is her talent but the truth is that her looks is what made her successful not her incredible voice because she cant sing, she doesnt have a voice like Whitney Houston.

Labelling anybody is fundamentally wrong. Labelling people negatively, more so. It is certainly stupid and terribly narrow-minded, not to mention ignorant of the muslim cleric to call Shakira a whore. It is obvious that he is speaking from a deep rooted sense of archaic beliefs. He should be condemned, his speech is mean spirited and vitriolic.
On the other hand spewing hate about a religion is also as condemnable. Agreed that there are a fair number of fanatic, extremist muslims whose actions and speech should be rejected forcefully and at every opportunity, but there are also a majority of muslims who live amongst us and are a productive part of society. They do not harbor any ill will towards anybody, they, like the rest of us want to live a happy, peaceful life. I feel bad for those muslims, by spewing hate about their religion, and making ungodly and untrue claims about their religion, we are participating in the same level of hate-mongering that the muslim cleric above is doing. Tempered reactions are important, including the muslim majority in discussions to ensure that the fanatic minority is marginalized is crucial. I hope we learn soon that hate begets hate and the only way to break that cycle is through awareness and dialog.

Hopeful that we collectively shun hate…
