He was talking about the octuplets and said that the woman has worked at the fertility clinic and had 3 previous sets of twins by the same IVF method. He reckoned a crime had been committed and said the clinic should be closed. Not sure what crime it would be, as the US don't have laws against implanting more than 2 embryos, as the UK does. Many of us spend a lot of time arguing the (obvious) incompatible nature of islam's political and ideological heart. We also major on the overt, in-your-face racism, xenophobia and mysogyny as well as the genocidal war-like nature of the bulk of islamic "teaching" and text. All of this is vital, of course, but it has now become almost like WW1 trench warfare -a hell of a lot of blood, sweat and tears with very little yardage to show for it. I think by constantly stressing the "obvious", a lot of the effort now 'passes through to the keeper'. The public is still not fully alert and definitely not mobilised. It is all "too political" and that is the kiss of death for most Australians on most issues. Because we focus on atrocity, barbarism, primitivism and terror, we tend to under-stress the demographic and logistical imperatives many 'modern' islamists place on migration and social security white-anting. However, that is one area that "the average Australian" does not get blase about, that does not see "working families" eyes glaze over and have them reaching for the remote! Quite simply, the lack of water, the running down of infrastructure, especially public health.... these things have direct repercussions on millions and it is a COMMON perception that migration levels lie at the root. Don't discount the public concern over the basics....water! In Victoria, at present, we are seeing people willing to be jailed in order to stop the Nth/Sth pipeline stealing rural water supplies for Mebourne, and these people really are "mum and dad", sal of the earth types. The Wonthagi de-sal protest is on a different tangent but exists because of the same problem - water. Rental properties in Melbourne are almost impossible to secure or afford, without conceding to the illegal blackmarket of "biding" in order to pay the highest rent!!! The fiasco of blackouts and deliberate brownouts which Victoria just experienced - 11 Govt acknowledged deaths - sent shock waves through a large percetage of the population. Anti-immigration actions based on water/power/demographic concerns would, in my opinion, be more effective coming from that grass-roots level. Anti-immigration positions would suddenly cease to be "racist" in many people's eyes and would be seen as having mush more personal and immediate repercussions. A threat to tangible lifestyle is instantly beyond the realm of "us" verus "them", which is how most anti-immigration positions are deliberatly guided towards a misrable and vilified end. Two birds with one much larger stone?? Lionhearts sentiment will find a lot of sympathetic echo amongst people who can not, as of this summer, bathe every day!!!! Water theft is already a growing crime stat in rural AND urban Australia. Brumby is commited to the old Bracks folly of one million more Victorians by 2012 (or some-such inanity/insanity). Whatever....it's a hell of a lot of toilet flushes and washed armpits. A hell of a lot od overcrowded slums. A hell of a lot more street violence. I think it is another powerful arrow to add to the quiver and is one that would garner a lot od support. Fred Nile called for a 10 year moratorium on migration... 4 years ago!
