Dutch report concludes “radical imam” not a security threat

Nothing threatening here

“The controversial ultra-conservative Tilburger Ahmad Salam is not a direct security threat for Dutch democracy or order, but his fundamentalist religious convictions can clash with Dutch norms and values.”

But: “His mosque is considered a radical one,”

So he’s an ultra-conservative fundamentalist in charge of a radical mosque. But he’s o.k., he’s not a threat. On the other hand, another ultra-conservative, Geert Wilders, is a threat. Maybe Geert should get himself a mosque, then he’d be o.k. too.

Yet this is not a tale of total dhimmitude: “Fraction chairman Roel Lauwerier says that his party didn’t change it’s point of view. ‘Really, there is just one place where imam Salam belongs: with a one-way ticket in a plane to Syria.’”

“Tilburg: Radical imam not a security threat, hinders integration,” from Islam in Europe, via JW:

The controversial ultra-conservative Tilburger Ahmad Salam is not a direct security threat for Dutch democracy or order, but his fundamentalist religious convictions can clash with Dutch norms and values.

This is the conclusion of the IVA researchers, an agency linked to the Tilburg University. They presented their results Monday to the Tilburg municipal council.

The study was conducted due to signs of dangerous developments in the mosque of Salam in Tilburg-Noord, including information which the police received from the Dutch intelligence service AIVD.

Ahmad Salam belongs to a group of Salafi imams who are followed by the AIVD. His mosque is considered a radical one, along with the El Tawheed mosque in Amsterdam, the Al Fourqaan mosque in Eindhoven and the As Soennah mosque in The Hague. He’s particularly famous since 2004 because he refused to shake hands with Rita Verdonk, who was minister at the time. This type of visible conflict-situation and customs can set the tone and can be the basis for tensions, according to the researchers. They point to the menacing effect on the long term.

The researchers spoke with the many Moroccan and Somali mosque visitors. They consider imam Salam as a great leader. His authority is unquestionable.

He doesn’t really solve practical day-to-day life problems for his followers, since he sees problems out of his uncompromising religious interpretation. ‘The followers are made and kept vulnerable by that attitude.

Mayor Ruud Vreeman (Labor) told the imama two years ago that he didn’t belong in the Netherlands. “I’m not happy with him,” he said Monday, referring to his fanaticism and old-fashioned attitudes. Vreeman is particularly concerned by the youth who visit the mosque in Tilburg-Noord.

The Tilburg council will later discuss the results of the study and a still confidential plan of action by the board. Coalition party VVD said it was doubtful of the conclusions. Fraction chairman Roel Lauwerier says that his party didn’t change it’s point of view. “Really, there is just one place where imam Salam belongs: with a one-way ticket in a plane to Syria.”

Hugh Fitzgerald comments:

Of course he doesn’t belong in the Netherlands. No one who is raised within, and deeply believes, an ideology that mandates a state of permanent war with all others, until the adherents of that ideology, or faith, or belief-system, or Total Belief-System, remove all obstacles to the spread, and then dominance, of that faith, relegating all those outside that fiath or ideology, or Total Belief-System to a condition of permanent humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity, belongs in the nations inhabited by, created by and also helping to create, those whose entire beings, whose art, science, individual freedoms legally recognized, and social understandings, and modes of thought, are antithetical to, are flatly contradicted by, the Holy Law of that Ideology — that is, the Shari’a — should be the Netherlands, or in any other Infidel nation-state. You can prate all you want about “diversity” and its sheer wonderfulness. But to include, as part of “diversity,” the very people who do not subscribe to pluralism (though in a condition of relative weakness will exploit the idea until they feel strong enough to dispense with it), who do not believe in “diversity” but in one world, ideally to be entirely and solemnly and mournfully Muslim, with all that that would mean for humanity, is idiotic. We are not all idiots. We are not, all of us, willing to bow to the Idols of the Age, or to Get With The Program.

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?
