In Iran, you fornicate and then you get stoned. In Australia, you first get stoned and then you fornicate.”

Stoning/lapidation

Everybody Must Get Stoned

stoningHere’s another brief note from Fjordman:

The great Belgian orientalist Dr. Koenraad Elst, an expert on Islamic atrocities in India, has published a post at The Brussels Journal about stoning in Islam as a response to my essay Why Christians Accepted Greek Natural Philosophy, But Muslims Did Not. Here is what he has to say:

In his article on how the Greco-Roman heritage impacted Christianity but not Islam, Fjordman has mentioned the different treatment of adulterers in the two religions. He correctly relates how Jewish law prescribed death by stoning as punishment for adultery (Deut.22:19-23), how Jesus overruled this law, how the Jews gradually let it lapse, and how Mohammed chose to uphold it, as his more zealous followers do until today. But the contrast is even sharper than this.

In the Hadith collection of Al-Muslim (4211 and 4214), Mohammed’s intervention in a dispute over the punishment of an adulterous couple is described. The Jewish couple was brought before Mohammed, who, though an immigrant, had just established himself as the sole ruler of Medina. He asked Jewish bystanders what punishment the Torah prescribed for this offence. They said: “We blacken their faces and make them ride on a donkey with their faces turned backwards.” Mohammed ordered a copy of the Torah brought, and the prescribed punishment was found to be death by stoning. So he ordered the couple to be stoned. The companion who passed on this story, Abdullah ibn Umar, testifies: “I was one of those who stoned them, and I saw him protecting her with his body.” Wow, that was true passion, until both died under the pious rain of stones.

That is why even under the onslaught of modernity, Muslims are reluctant to relax this stone-age punishment for adultery. That is why the enlightened Islamic spokesman Tariq Ramadan will only go as far as considering a “moratorium” on stoning but not its abolition. After all, Mohammed not merely prescribed this punishment: he specifically reversed an attempt at relaxing it. Islam is essentially an imitation of Mohammed’s model behaviour. Therefore, a true Muslim must emulate the Prophet’s resistance against any “progressive” tendency towards laxer modes of punishment.

But let us conclude on a lighter note. A jolly Australian lady friend used this topic to explain to me the difference between Iran and Australia: “In Iran, you fornicate and then you get stoned. In Australia, you first get stoned and then you fornicate.”

  1. “Mohammed not merely prescribed this punishment: he specifically reversed any attempt at relaxing it”.

These brain dead traditions have been kept going because Islam does not have bread and circus’, they are unable to evolve beyond violence.

  2. He correctly relates how Jewish law prescribed death by stoning as punishment for adultery (Deut.22:19-23), how Jesus overruled this law

Actually this is not really correct. Jesus did not abolish the law, He fulfilled it in this manner. Even in the O.T. a adulteress woman did not have to be stoned, but there was a allowance for her to be “put her away secretly” as stated in Matthew 1:19…because Joesph assumed naturally she committed adultery in order to get pregnant [but was corrected by the angel that spoke to him in a dream].

What Jesus merely did was emphasize mercy over judgment, which was already allowed for under the Torah law. The “fulfillment of the law” that Jesus brought was not the destruction of the former, but merely the trumping of mercy & grace over judgment because He came as the prophesied Lamb of God that would be the final perfect sacrifice once and for all the sins of mankind and bring transformation [a.k.a “born again”] so that humanity would no longer be bound to the sinful nature. That is how adultery & fornication are still stated as sin, but the long suffering of God should be manifested in His kindness to lead us to repentance from these things. Jesus gave humanity a “age of grace” according what He did upon the cross…that mercy & grace would be the emphasis over judgment until a appointed time that God set & He alone will judge humanity in all finality at the great white throne judgment.

I really didn’t mean to go off on a theology rant, but this is the simple truth…”Christianity” is not a departure from Judaism into Greek philosophy, but merely the exercising of prophetic continuity of what was already written in the Torah. But of course this is something Islam has no clue about. Their absurd belief system relies upon suicidal murderers spilling their blood in a homicidal act of barbarism in order to atone for 50 of their relatives in order to make into their neurotic so called paradise. “Peace” with Christianity was never the priority of horizontal between mean, but rather “peace on earth, good will towards men” from God….to humanity. Jesus Himself said there would be wars and rumors of wars before He returned.

I actually see my faith in Jesus in part that I am empowered to see justice prevail, so that humanity understands and has a choice to whom they will serve…because God is offering us the choice presently as stated in the bible. And this means resisting fascist ideologies like Islam that removes this choice. I will never submit because I “love my neighbor as myself”.

Some day I’ll actually proof read before I post here…lol

  4. Yes, muslims are unwilling and also appear to be unable to rebuild their faith into a more enlightened form of belief. As such, Islam represents a major threat to humankind. Perhaps such enlighted spirits such a “A Christian” might wish to comment on the zeal at which Islam showers these barbaric judgements down on all and sundry. And once again – support for the statement that this barabaric behavior is justified by reference to the Quran is validated by reading statements of the executioners (here executioner means eg. the morons who throw the stones in a stoning) which can be easily found in print.

  5. New EastEnders storyline to incorporate a gay Muslim! ROFL, sounds hilarious – the fundies will be foaming at the mouth! Only a white Liberal could come up with a story line about gay Muslims as a way to try and demonstrate how ‘normal’ Muslims are!

  6. revparadigm,

I believe that’s the feature of the Judeo-Christian ethic – we are able to make choices in life, while the individual in fascist ideologies must just follow blindly.

In our culture, our legal system has evolved and modified in the light of our new understandings. Sadly, the Islamic system is fixed in 7th century barbarism and must never change as it reflects the immutable revelation of allah.

Thus there can never be a moderate Islam that can co-exist with others.
