Andrew Bolt Apologizes to Moslem Trolls

No doubt his apologies are genuine: Andrew Bolt has his picture is in the paper every day and his got kidz. Perhaps a representative of the Religion of Peace told him “we know where you live”…

Sammer and Hakan

Andrew Bolt

I’ve only now seen two comments that were sent in last week by Macca about regular commentators Hakan and Sammer. They were foul and have since been snipped. Macca has been banned – and this time for good. Creep.

The reason I draw attention to this is that I want to apologise to Hakan and Sammer (neither of whom actually complained to me, I should note). They have long been regulars here, arguing in defence of their faith and doing it often with a courtesy conspicuously missing in some of their critics. This alone gives them and their cause some credibility, and they do not deserve some of the criticism hurled at them.

I have long welcomed their contribution, and would like them to know that they are welcome still – while their worst detractors are most definitely not.

  1. The whole thing was a mixture of a lot of issues.
    Here’s my take:

Firstly, the Muslim posters wished their mates well for Ramadan. That’s all.

If you deny them that right then you cannot allow other posters to say “Merry Christmas” etc etc.
I don’t find these sorts of comments offensive, regardless of religion.

The poster (Macca) who was banned said a lot of things about Islam that many of us agree with, and they were rather bluntly/offensively worded.

The trouble was that he said them at the most inopportune time, just MHO.

What he said should have been snipped for legal/other issues.

While it is true the Muslim posters have annoyed many others over the years I think this comment was one of the most innocuous of all.

    So, in summary,

    1. The inappropriate post should have been snipped and a warning given, bearing in mind this poster has been banned before. (No idea why).

    2. Bolt missed it and so did his mods. (Still don’t know how/why he was alerted to it??)
Thus Bolt had to save himself.

    3. Devoting a whole thread to it was, in hindsight, not such a good idea considering that there have been other disputes with posters and no such thing has ever been done before to resolve things.

    Will it set a precedent?

No doubt other posters will be more watchful.

Kaw: Bolt is the best we have here. I don’t want him to P*** Off!

  2. Great blog and keep up the good work. I have linked your blog on mine – .rss sidebar.

Hope you will link and promote my blog from time to time. I will certainly do the same.

    Regards.

  3. Maybe we shouldn’t be too harsh on him – he realises his life’s on the line .
But if we are afraid to voice our opinions on islam because of the threat of muslim violence , that just shows they’re not fit to live amongst us .

Don’t blame him , blame the muslims .

  4. Kaw,
    Name one!
I know we should have more like him but where are they?

Conservative commentators/journos are very few and far between.

  5. “They have long been regulars here, arguing in defence of their faith and doing it often with a courtesy conspicuously missing in some of their critics. This alone gives them and their cause some credibility, and they do not deserve some of the criticism hurled at them.”

The softest Jihad. Bolt is a Dolt.

  6. GramFan.
Give me some time and I’ll give you some names of journalists I would prefer. Since I am “offshore” at present it will take a little extra time – however I read Bolts blogs and I say again quite sincerely – we can do a lot better than Andrew Bolt. You are quite right when you say the “conservative journalism is rare”. However I personally believe in the following “naive” concept – “a journalist should be neither liberal nor conservative but should simply report the truth – the interpretation is up to the reader/listener”. Well, I suppose T-Rex left us 65 million years ago and the rest of us should have taken the hint!

“However I personally believe in the following “naive” concept – “a journalist should be neither liberal nor conservative but should simply report the truth “,,,,

I agree. This just isn’t happening anymore, anywhere.

When I mentioned Bolt I think he is one of the best here – not necessarily globally.

  8. Agreed, Gramfan.

Bolt, however, seems to have some wild mood swings. For some time you believe that he gets it and does what he does out of conviction, then he turns around and stabs everybody in the back. Apologies to his despicable Islamo-trolls are uncalled for and totally unnecessary. What’s the point?
