The Arab Slave Trade

The Middle Eastern Passage

by Baron Bodissey/Gates of Vienna

When most people think of the African slave trade, they picture evil white men — for example, prominent members of the Adams family in Boston — who purchased slaves on the west coast of Africa and shipped them to South America, the Caribbean, and the United States.

But those guys weren’t your typical slave traders. These were:

Arab slave trade

It’s important to remember that the bulk of the slave trade went in the opposite direction — from Africa to the Arabian peninsula. The Arabs have been enslaving Africans since prehistoric times, and the slave trade in Saudi Arabia wasn’t abolished until the 1960s. An underground traffic in slaves continues to this day, particularly in Mauritania and other countries in western and northern Africa.

Islam’s black slaves

The author of a book on the 1,400-year history of the other slave trade talks about the power of eunuchs, the Nation of Islam’s falsehoods and the persistence of slavery today. More>>

White Slavery, Atlantic Jihad, Europeans captured and sold

The Arabs were the primary suppliers of slaves — the wholesalers, if you will — for European-owned ships that made the Middle Passage. The Arabs had long-established raiding-and-trading routes in Africa that no European could hope to match, so they continued to dominate the market.

The photo above was taken in 1868, and the flow of slaves from Africa to Arabia continued for almost a century after that.

Here’s the account that was posted along with the photo:

The Indian Ocean Slave trade evolved around the Indian Ocean basin. Slaves were taken from mainland East Africa and sold in markets in the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf. In contrast to the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, the Indian Ocean Slave Trade was much older dating back from at least the second century C.E. until the early twentieth century. For example, the oldest written document from the East Africa Coast, the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, describes a small trade in slaves around the second century C.E.

The idea that Muslims, particularly Arabs, are somehow friends and comrades in suffering with American blacks is the Big Lie of the 21st century. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth is that Muslims have been slaughtering and enslaving black Africans for more than a millennium.

The truth is that black African Muslims have the lowest status of any group in Islam, and are held in special contempt by Arabs.

The truth is that Muslim immigrants to the United States have appropriated the rhetoric of civil rights for their own ends, and are cynically exploiting African Americans in an attempt to Islamize America.

You won’t hear much about these truths in the mainstream media. It’s not a story that people want to hear, because it doesn’t fit the “dominant narrative” of white patriarchy and oppression.

Dymphna correcty points out: What has always amazed me is the fact that though slavery did indeed exist here, there was no castration of Africans imported to this country. Families were often cruelly torn apart at the whim and economics of slave-holders, but there were exceptions to that.

Where do you see a thousand years of African blood in Arab countries? You don’t. The men were often killed and boys were castrated. Many of them died as a result. The women were used and discarded. They disappeared and another generation, fresh from Africa, replaced them as though they had never been.

Yet here in the US it is hard to find a black person who has *no* white blood. Perhaps the lately-arrived Haitians are a current exception?

The tensions between whites and blacks are very old, but they can be transcended and frequently are. There is money to be made by the race mongers — e.g., Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, etc.

But what is ironic and truly pathetic is the ahistorical and misbegotten idea of burdening children in the US with Muslim-African names. What a sick joke on the victims of their own ignorance.

Coptic Preacher letter to Obama on Islamic history: Says many of the African slaves would have already been Christian

Islamization Watch

Colonial official with arab dignitaries , on the right is Tippu Tip (the most renowned Arab slave and ivory trader, died in 1905), in Zanzibar, Tanzania…

The beginning of the trans-Atlantic slave traded started first with the Portuguese expedition to get gold ~ but what they also found was a thriving slave trade of non-Muslim African being used as Muslim slaves. So to get gold from these Muslim Kingdoms they traded slaves. Which was one of the reasons they were able to set up ports along the coast, relatively unopposed, because the slaves didn’t come from the Muslim dominated areas they were being taken to those areas. Besides this other good were being traded there as well.

The end of the fifteenth century was marked (for Europe) by Vasco da Gama’s successful voyage to India and the establishment of sugar plantations on Madeira, Canary, and Cape Verde Islands. Rather than trading slaves back to Muslim merchants, there was an emerging market for agricultural workers on the plantations. By 1500 the Portuguese had transported approximately 81,000 slaves to these various markets. [About]

The majority of these slaves came from Europe and Africa — there were always enterprising locals ready to kidnap or capture their fellow countrymen.

When the Europeans reached Africa there was this whole slave-trade machine already in operation ~ and these slave primarily came from non-Muslim areas..

Black Africans were transported to the Islamic empire across the Sahara to Morocco and Tunisia from West Africa, from Chad to Libya, along the Nile from East Africa, and up the coast of East Africa to the Persian Gulf. This trade had been well entrenched for over 600 years before Europeans arrived, and had driven the rapid expansion of Islam across North Africa.

By the time of the Ottoman Empire, the majority of slaves were obtained by raiding in Africa. Russian expansion had put an end to the source of “exceptionally beautiful” female and “brave” male slaves from the Caucasians — the women were highly prised in the harem, the men in the military. [About]

Recently there was a problem with forced Islamization in a few Bulgarian villages ~ they had been Muslim through the communist years ~ but there was this effort to ~ like what is happening across Europe to get the women out of their regional clothes ~ into the Arabized black or black and white Arab dress. They brought a strict version of Islam to the schools and everyone was required to go to the mosque. And those who didn’t go along with this were ostracised, threatened and called ~ Giaour or an infidel slave ~ it is considered to be an extremely derogatory term ~ and it goes back to the Ottoman’s taking the non-Muslims as slaves.

Giaour (Turkish – gavur) is a noun in the Turkish language, most notable as a pejorative term and offensive ethnic slur for bulgarians and other christian people of the Balkans. It was widely used during the days of the Ottoman empire. The word was adaptated into turkish from Persian gdwr or gbr, an infidel. [+]

Although the law required owners to treat slaves well and provide medical treatment, a slave had no right to be heard in court (testimony was forbidden by slaves), had no right to property, could marry only with permission of their owner, and was considered to be a chattel, that is the (moveable) property, of the slave owner.

Conversion to Islam did not automatically give a slave freedom nor did it confer freedom to their children. Whilst highly educated slaves and those in the military did win their freedom, those used for basic duties rarely achieved freedom. In addition, the recorded mortality rate was high — this was still significant even as late as the nineteenth century [About]

And the references to slavery continue today ~ within the Islamic world. Where the distinction lies in those who were taken as slaves and then converted to Islam, would still be referred to as slaves by the Arabs from the Arab region proper. I have it on good authority that those for example in Northern Sudan, who are called Arabs are still referred to as Arab slaves in derogatory terms. Other North Africans have similar stories ~ of being called this by those in Arabia ~ so there is a tiered system in Islam. Those who were made slaves and then become Muslim and those who were Muslim and took slaves.

You do wonder what the Muslims were doing all those years. But slavery proved to be an inefficient system of growing an economy, because only the few would have been made wealthy, and if you were not party to this, unless you were highly skilled, you could not simply get paid employment, because there were slaves for that.

— free men could not be enslaved, and those faithful to foreign religions could live as protected persons, dhimmis, under Muslim rule (as long as they maintained payment of taxes called Kharaj and Jizya). However, the spread of the Islamic Empire resulted in a much harsher interpretation of the law. For example, if a dhimmis was unable to pay the taxes they could be enslaved, and people from outside the borders of the Islamic Empire were considered an acceptable source of slaves. [About]

Coptic Preacher’s open letter to Obama on Muslim history in US

In his speech that he gave in Cairo, our president [Barack Obama] said, “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of American history.”

Have they, Mr. Obama, or was this just another peace-making pansy thrown out? Where are the facts? As a scholar in world history, I can tell you.

Other people have defiled another person’s response. They say he “got his basic facts wrong” and is “racist”. Unfortunately, those spectators were wrong on both counts. First, I am going to prove the fact that Muslim slavery in America could not have been possible.

When the flurry for North America’s colonization began, the Spanish conquistadors were one of the earliest explorers. Of course, the European monarchs and aristocrats wanted a share in the wealth too. So, they made a deal with King Mansa Musa of the south eastern Africa territory. Guns had just been successfully invented at the time, so they agreed to periodically trade guns for slaves. This is where the first African slaves were taken, because there were not enough Native Americans. Mansa Musa agreed, and you can easily find, even in a common middle school history book, that it is a plain fact that Mansa Musa was a devout Muslim. Funny how you call it “White propaganda” when it was an African who agreed to start this long slave toil.

Because he was such a devout Muslim, Mansa Musa would not even send the lowest class of Muslims into slavery, so instead, he conveniently sent the Christians to their toil.

Some other people said that Muslim blacks were in slavery.

They kept their heritage through songs of praise to the Christian God, once again proving that Mansa Musa disposed of as many African Christians as possible. So far, the only Muslim who played a part in our history was the one that started slavery.

Now I’m sure you are going to say that in early times, slaves were forced to convert to Christianity. Again, this is incorrect. It was the Spanish conquistador “missionaries” who were the ones who imposed this religion, and they didn’t even impose it on African slaves! They forced this on Native American tribes such as the Mayas, Aztecs, and even the early Olmecs. Why? Because the African slaves were already Christian!

  1. The word for black in Arabic is the same as the word for slave.
How many black Africans are slaves in Khartoum?
We seldom hear about this genocide against black Africans. When it did hit the headlines , it was always portrayed as a” civil war.”

  2. I found the reports of the massive arab slave trade in Central Africa, as reported by Livingstone quite disturbing. It seems that the arabs have not changed,

  3. Slave trade heads to Israel
    By Mona Alami

JERUSALEM – Israel continues to be a favorite destination for the trafficking of women for the sex industry – also known as the white slave trade – and for a form of modern slavery where migrant laborers from developing countries are exploited.

The US State Department placed Israel in Tier 2 position in its 2007 Trafficking in Persons report. Also, an Israeli court ruled against the country’s work visa policy which forces foreign workers into indentured labor with a single employer.

“Israel was only upgraded to Tier 2 last year,” said Romm Lewkowicz, a spokesman from Israel’s Hotline for Migrant

Workers, an advocacy group which defends the rights of foreign workers.

The US State Department divides countries into three tiers. Tier 1 is for countries that have successfully implemented measures to control trafficking (most Western countries fall into this category). Tier 2 is for countries that are trying to eradicate this modern day slavery but still fail to meet the necessary standards. Tier 3 is reserved for countries that have not addressed the issue at the most basic level.

In 2006, Israel was on the US State Department’s Watch List for people trafficking.

“This position falls between Tier 2 and Tier 3. The US applies economic sanctions to those countries which fall into Tier 3, but as we have a strong economic relationship with the US, Israel was given a warning and placed in a slightly higher category,” said Lewkowicz.

The Israeli government has also faced sharp criticism from the US for its so-called binding work visa policy which effectively binds foreign migrants – mostly from developing countries and former Soviet Eastern bloc countries working in certain industries such as construction, labor, homecare and agriculture – to the employer stated on their visa.

“The issuance of these visas is subject to the workers staying with the same employer stated on the visa, and if this condition is broken then the migrant worker is deemed illegal and liable for deportation without having a chance to fight the case in court,” said Sigal Rosen from Hotline.

This has encouraged unscrupulous employers to withhold payment and extort employees, knowing they can always replace them and escape penalized.

One of the more notorious cases was the Turks for Tanks deal of 2002. According to the deal, the Israeli military industry (Ta’as) upgraded about 200 tanks for Turkey for US$687 million, in one of the country’s biggest arms export deals. As part of the agreement, 800 Turkish workers were granted permits to work in construction in Israel, after being placed through the Turkish employment agency Yilmazlar.

One of Yilmazlar’s contractors, Shaheen Yelmaz, arrived in Israel in 2006 dreaming of helping his father pay off his mounting debts after being promised a good job in Israel for $1,400 a month – a fortune by Turkey’s standards where unemployment is high.

On arrival his passport and mobile phone were taken away and he and other Turkish workers were accommodated in squalid conditions.

“We were not allowed to leave the premises in the evenings, and were only allowed out on our day off. And we were not paid for the first three months,” said Yelmaz.

The Turkish Embassy was unwilling to intervene because of the lucrative deal with Israel.

Yelmaz and his fellow contractors, most of them with little education, were coerced into signing blank documents before leaving Turkey that virtually ensured their dependency on Yilmazlar.

“We were also told by our Israeli employer that if we were unhappy we could leave. The police would then arrest us as illegals and we would be deported,” said Yelmaz.

Following a number of similar cases, Hotline and other Israeli human rights organizations petitioned the Israeli High Court. The court acknowledged the inequity of the system, but ruled that Yilmazlar’s contract with the Israeli defense industry was unique, and the company’s contract with Israel was limited.

However, the court did rule in 2006 that Israel’s binding visa policy in general was illegal, and ordered the state to establish an alternative. Rosen says they are still waiting for a final response from the state.

Yelmaz was subsequently deported to Turkey, $15,000 in debt, and Israel’s contract with Yilmazlar was renewed.

“While the situation of indentured laborers remains serious, the white trade trafficking has improved somewhat,” said Lewkowicz. “Since the US State Department put Israel on its Watch List in 2006, the number of women trafficked to Israel has declined, and it is now against the law to traffic in women. Furthermore, the government now grants prostitutes a one-year rehabilitation visa. However, the bureaucracy involved means the granting of these visas is often problematic.”

But new problems have arisen. “Israel is no longer solely an importer of prostitutes but has become an exporter of them too. Last year we discovered a new business where Israeli women were being trafficked to the UK and Ireland to work in the sex industry,” Lewkowicz said.

Prostitution has also gone underground in Israel. “Before it was openly done on the streets, now many of the players have resorted to working from private apartments, following a police and government crackdown on the trafficking,” he added.

According to the Jerusalem-based Task Force on Human Trafficking (TFHT), approximately 1,000 of the estimated 10,000 prostitutes in Israel are minors.

Immigrants from the ex-Soviet bloc countries, some involved in the Russian mafia, manage about 20% of the trade, while the remainder are Israelis, says Lewkowicz.

A Global Terrorism Analysis report published by the Washington-based Jamestown Foundation states that many of the trafficked women are smuggled in from Egypt’s Sinai by Bedouins who have also been involved in arms smuggling.

The industry has proved very lucrative for the human traffickers, with each woman sold in Israel bringing in anywhere between $50,000 to $100,000.

But the state also earns a tidy profit from the white slave trade, according to Hotline.

Service providers, such as taxi drivers transporting prostitutes, lawyers who represent the clients, landlords who rent out their premises as brothels, all pay income tax, and this ultimately arrives in the state’s coffers. Not to mention the cases of corrupt police officers who have also lined their pockets through bribery.

  4. What a sick joke it is when a black says that this is a white mans lie, and that whitey is da debbil. The fact is, some people like to blame one group of people for their failure, because it is easier. Since the truth comes out, (. Which it will continually) they cannot accept it. they would rather put the same people who continue to enslave them today on a high pedestal than to admit whitey is no different than others who’ve committed crimes. What a sick joke; the name mohammed Ali was that of a great slave trader. They would rather blame whitey for their demise than to stand up and realize that the world always has been and always will be sick due to human greed, and it’s everybody for themselves.

  5. Angie so true.

Did you know that the first slaves sent to america were whites? White slaves from UK and eastern europe. Yessir.

So the true story is: all the races have enslaved their own people and others people. It’s a human thing. The first slaves brought to america were thousands of whites. And the first enslavers of africans for centuries and centuries were arabic muslims (saoudia arabia stopped slavery in 1968 lol).

The fake story kids get taught in school is: Whites started slavery in the world bringing blacks to america. Whites are evil.

    1. From memory:

As far as I know, slavery in what is now the U.S. lasted only 73 years from the time of independence, when America became a republic, and then a bloody civil war was waged to abolish slavery.
Before that, all slavery was the responsibility of colonial powers who were good customers of Arab slave traders, who engaged in slave trade out of Africa even before Roman times, long before the Arabs became Muselmaniacs.

  6. For as long as human being leave there will still be some short of slavery, say for a farmer who produces some crop like cotton and he sells a kilogram at $ 0.4 and the buyer sells the byproduct at $30 that is still slavery, however its a better slavery than the African-Arab slave trade dealers, since the mordern trade is smarter because of technology.

  7. The fact may be that Islam is non-feudal. But almost all Asian language are feudal and suppressive of the lower man. When viewed from this point of view, most Asian Muslims are not Islam. Even the Arab do not treat Asian Muslims, who speak such languages as Tamil, Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam etc. as Islam. They treat them as sub standard Muslims, and not real Muslims.

  8. Slavery was only legislated against in Saudi Arabia in 1960.
It is still rampant today and is fed by guest workers from third world Muslim countries and EUROPE.
Blue eyed boys and girls are auctioned (wholesale)off daily throughout former Eastern Communist countries for Retail sales throughout the ‘Muslim worrld’
Kofi Annan that UN Bozo par excellence has the distinction of coming from the nation that is in fact the world headquarters for wholesale slave trading Ghana.
Muslim savages not only enslaved blacks and sold them on the world markets they had a thriving White Slave trade , the book White Gold documents their raids upon the English coastline.
The IMF’s pin up sleaze ball, Strauss Khan has just been hauled before the French Courts on charges of running prostitution rings in Europe has admitted to engaging in “Libertine activities” code for running a sexual enslavement ring?

As western progressives demand we bend over even further than we are already forced to daily to appease these savages, the only result is that they are even more savage, Godless and uncivilized in direct proportion to the degree of appeasement handed them by their progressive cheer squad and celebrity new best friends in the west.

So far the battles have all been lost however there is still time to win the war.
