Obamessiah tells the Rabbis what to discuss in their High Holiday sermons
Carl in J’lem
A couple of my favorite bloggers were livid on Wednesday because President Obama had aconference call conversation with about 1000 rabbis in which he made the outrageous statement that “we are God’s partners in matters of life and death.” Perhaps they would be even angrier if they knew what the conference call was about. Rick Richman fills in the details.
As I have stated in my essay Why Europeans Should Support Israel, the demonization of Israel should be rejected not just because of Israel, but because of Europe. The very same people who are demonizing Israelis are also demonizing native Europeans who resist the Islamization of their lands and the state-sponsored colonization of their countries by alien peoples.

Here’s an interesting aside for Atlas readers. A friend of mine whom I love but whose politics run counter to mine recently returned from a trip to the Middle East. He went to Tel Aviv to march in the Gay Pride Parade. He did the whole country and spent a lot of time in Arab towns.
He said, “You know, Pamela, I was thinking about you there, because when you and I talked about Obama a year or so ago, and you discussed his Muslim stepfather and schooling, etc., I thought, she’s off her rocker. But when I was in the [Muslim] quarter of Jerusalem ……. They kept talking about Muhammad until I finally said, ‘Muhammad? The prophet?’
“‘No!’ They excitedly replied. ‘Obama!!’ They call Obama Muhammad.” I thought that was fascinating. My friend went on to say, “They really think he is one of them. They think he is a Muslim. I was shocked.”
Well, I’m not.
“Fashion Icon” Watch
For the post racial presidency, critique is all “racism:”
Capitalism Versus Racism
The political atmosphere crackles with charges of racism. President Obama’s functionaries and allies make dark insinuations about the racial motives behind all opposition to his agenda. Tea party protests against Big Government are portrayed as thinly veiled Klan rallies. The boycott of Glenn Beck’s TV show is based on the idea that calling a black liberal Democrat racist is, itself, an act of indefensible racism. The hilariously incompetent and biased MSNBC network was so desperate to portray town hall protesters as racists that it framed the image of a black man holding a rifle to obscure his face, then tried to pass him off as an armed white supremacist.
It’s not surprising to see desperate Democrats throw gasoline on America’s simmering racial fires, in a last-ditch effort to reverse their political fortunes. The Left believes debates are won when the other side is silenced, not when those listening to the debate are persuaded. Charges of racism would not be one of their preferred weapons, if a climate of tension didn’t exist to make them effective. Racism consistently ranks near the top of issues Americans say they are concerned about. Reducing racial tensions will require building a society that is the exact opposite of the one Barack Obama favors. No system of politics and economics is more hostile to racism than classical liberalism combined with free-market capitalism… and none provides a more fertile breeding ground for tension between races, sexes, religions, and other groups than big-government socialism.
In a capitalist society, racism is both morally offensive and stupid. People might harbor some prejudices in their minds – and really, how many of us can say we go through our whole lives without having a single racist thought? However, overt expressions of racism are foolish, because they are detrimental to the success of both individuals and companies. It makes no sense to deprive your company of skilled employees by discriminating against their skin color, or drive off large numbers of prospective customers by insulting them. It’s equally stupid for an individual to pass up career opportunities, or forfeit the ability to collaborate with talented peers, due to blind prejudice. Over time, those who persist in such foolishness will inevitably fall behind those who rise above it.
Legendary economist Thomas Sowell has written extensively about the pressures free markets bring to bear against discrimination, even in the absence of legal penalties for such behavior. Of course, no system is perfect, and the sun will never rise on a world that doesn’t include a few blockheads scowling at each other for petty, superficial reasons… but we can aspire to build a world where the pursuit of excellence helps the human heart escape the undertow of ancient hatreds. A great nation does not require the absence of unjust men… only their irrelevance.
By contrast, while racism is still a moral outrage in a socialist society, it is not stupid.Collectivist systems reward tribal groups for maintaining their solidarity, and working as a bloc to exert pressure on the State, in exchange for rewards. Racial animosity is a brutally effective technique for maintaining solidarity – it has been proven across all the bloody centuries of human civilization. In an economy controlled by the State, the ability to deliver packages of votes, or arrange political pressure through organized demonstrations, is incredibly valuable. Barack Obama spent years baking in the furnace of Jeremiah Wright’s racial hatred because it gave him vital political power in Chicago. His presence in that church, and the financial support he offered it, were morally reprehensible… but not pointless.
The racial theories of the Left state that members of preferred minority groups are immune to charges of racism, due to prior oppression. They are indulged in behaviors that would be considered totally unacceptable for less favored ethnic groups. Those behaviors allow them to organize, and maintain group discipline, far more effectively. The Democrat Party requires over eighty per cent of the black vote for its political survival. It ensures that kind of loyalty through political activities in churches, vicious insults directed at “inauthentic” blacks, and the maintenance of explicitly racial organizations like the NAACP. All of those techniques would be greeted as unspeakable hate crimes by liberals, if whites practiced them. No one should want to practice them. We should be more interested in national associations for the advancement of everyone… or, more to the point, anyone.
The liberal would say that concessions to preferred minority groups are necessary, to compensate for past discrimination. In the shadow of the total State, those concessions will drag on forever, because they bring too much power to those who provide them. Retributive “social justice” for the sins of the 50s and 60s is one thing “progressives” will never progress beyond. Like tobacco, state-sanctioned discrimination is too useful to be outlawed by Big Government, no matter how poisonous it is. We can only honor the ideal of a just and color-blind society by accepting it in total. The proposition that “all men are created equal” is not improved by appending a list of exceptions and qualifications.
Fortunately, we do not require the blessing of high-powered politicians to set aside our country’s racial obsessions and grievances. That’s the point. We can only achieve freedom and equality by changing the government, not by sitting around and waiting for it to change us. The Left would have us believe the goal of social justice requires us to cleanse every prejudiced thought from every human mind, and since that goal is impossible, their demand for power to pursue it will be endless. I believe there is no better way to conquer ignorance and resentment than to build a climate of prosperity and opportunity, where people of all backgrounds can join in the constructive pursuit of a better life. It’s not a perfect, magical, universal antidote to prejudice – nothing is, and anyone who tells you otherwise is playing you for a fool. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It only has to be good enough to whet our appetite for making it even better.
If there’s one positive attribute of humanity I’ve never lost any faith in, it’s the ability to discard useless things. The best way to make blind hatred seem useless to the vast majority of people is to make it senseless. That will never happen in a socialist nation, because tribalism is not senseless for people who depend on the favor of the State for prosperity, or even subsistence. One need only look at Europe to see how much ugly, murderous hatred bubbles in the state-subsidized cauldron of a permanent welfare underclass. The rise of the super-state has already divided Americans into too many warring factions…. and now the Left wants to give the State the power to dispense health care, throwing one more haunch of meat into the pit for the peasants to fight over.
Socialists like to taunt capitalists by saying the only color they care about is green. Hallelujah, and amen.
Ramadan Kareem (White House.gov) from AtlasShrugs
Remarks of President Barack Obama
On behalf of the American people – including Muslim communities in all fifty states – I want to extend best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world. Ramadan Kareem.
Ramadan is the month in which Muslims believe the Koran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, beginning with a simple word – iqra. It is therefore a time when Muslims reflect upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, and the responsibility that human beings have to one another, and to God.
Sounds like dawah, doesn’t it?
The use of the word revealed is revealing, very telling. Obama used this in his Cairo speech to the Ummah. I noted it then: – “particularly worth mentioning is Barack Hussein Obama’s quote that he had “‘known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed.’ an interesting choice of words that, ‘first revealed.’ Not ‘established,’ ‘founded’ or ‘invented.’ is, after all, a careful writer, so he must have deliberately eschewed verbs that reflect man’s role, in favor of the theological version of events promoted by Islam.”
These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.
I don’t begin to know what Obama is talking about here. Other religions are not tolerated in Muslim countries. Churches and synagogues do not exist in some Islamic countries, and where they do exist, they are constantly targeted and in myriad instances attacked. Women’s rights under Islam are practically non-existent. Oppression, subjugation and gender apartheid define the treatment of women in Islam. Islamic anti-semitism defines the faith. Islamic aggression and intolerance of the Jews and the Jewish state have become the rallying cry of the ummah and the OIC driven UN.
This summer, people across America have served in their communities – educating children, caring for the sick, and extending a hand to those who have fallen on hard times. Faith-based organizations, including many Islamic organizations, have been at the forefront in participating in this summer of service. And in these challenging times, this is a spirit of responsibility that we must sustain in the months and years to come.
All of these efforts are a part of America’s commitment to engage Muslims and Muslim-majority nations on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect. And at this time of renewal, I want to reiterate my commitment to a new beginning between America and Muslims around the world.
Where is the mutual respect? Where is the respect of the West and our unending patience, charity, and subjugation to Islam? Defaming Islam is the great crime: defaming Christianity and Judaism is the sport of the day, but dare to insult Islam and they’ll have your head in parts of the world, or, in the case of Geert Wilders, ban and prosecute you. Free speech be damned in the age of jihad.
As I said in Cairo, this new beginning must be borne out in a sustained effort to listen to each other, to learn from each other, to respect one another, and to seek common ground. I believe an important part of this is listening, and in the last two months, American embassies around the world have reached out not just to governments, but directly to people in Muslim-majority countries.
We have listened. We have heard you. And like you, we are focused on pursuing concrete actions that will make a difference over time – both in terms of the political and security issues that I have discussed, and in the areas that you have told us will make the most difference in peoples’ lives.
These consultations are helping us implement the partnerships that I called for in Cairo – to expand education exchange programs; to foster entrepreneurship and create jobs; and to increase collaboration on science and technology, while supporting literacy and vocational learning. We are also moving forward in partnering with the OIC and OIC member states to eradicate polio, while working closely with the international community to confront common health challenges like H1N1 – which I know is of particular to concern to many Muslims preparing for the upcoming hajj.
Partnering with the OIC, the Organization of the Islamic Conference? To what end? What is the goal of the OIC (57 Islamic states that act as one unit – the ummah)? Bat Ye’or recently said of the OIC:
Unfortunately what I see now, organized in the OIC, is exactly the contrary. The OIC brings all the Muslim countries, the 57 Muslim countries, together, and I wouldn’t say the same rule of course, the same organization, the same politics, its aim at creating a block, a Muslim block, which is, it plans to unify it by rooting it in the Koran and Sharia and the Sunna. So we are going to see a stronger, even a stronger Islamic block, more fundamentalist.
And today, I want to join with the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world – and your families and friends – in welcoming the beginning of Ramadan, and wishing you a blessed month. May God’s peace be upon you.
Back in August of 2007Â I queried here:
How many Americans know that when Obama had his bloviating screed “The Audacity of Hope” translated into – the title went from “The Audacity of Hope” to “Jihad: From Jakarta To The Whitehouse”. The man is dishonest about his Islamic leanings. Check this our from An American expat Living in Indonesia:
Jihad: From Jakarta To The Whitehouse American Expat in Indonesia
When I first saw the recently released Indonesian of Barack Obama’s book “: Thoughts on Reclaiming “, over here in I was completely taken aback not only by the violent imagery in new title of the book, “Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung Putih”, but by the fact that it was not really a translation at all, but rather a completely different title than the original book.
A correct translation of the title of Obama’s book would have been “Keberanian Harapan: Pemikiran Untuk Meraih Kembali Impian America” which translates into “Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming The American Dream“. However, the title for the Indonesian translation of Barack Obama’s book is “Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung Putih” which translates into “Assault Hope: From Jakarta to“.
Why would the publishers drastically change the title of the book for the Indonesian translation and make use of such ? Your guess is as good as mine, but it would seem that BarackObama is quite interested with promoting himself in Southeast Asia as a crusader for the cause of Indonesia’s Muslims.
Read it all…….most disturbing.
