Assorted Nationalities of Al Qaeda in Yemen, Govt Rejects Cease Fire Offer in Sa’ada War

Jihad Watch:

Al-Qaeda continues to thrive in Yemen

“There isn’t a serious fight against Al-Qaeda in Yemen,” one analyst observes, but there is more to the story than economics. There has been a pattern of inaction and bumbling on the part of the Yemeni government concerning jihadists within the country, so much so that one official remarked: “Yemen is like a bus station — we stop some terrorists, and we send others on to fight elsewhere … We appease our partners in the West, but we are not really helping.”

Regarding the failed attempt to assassinate Saudi Counter-Terror Chief, Prince Naif, the bomber hid the explosive device in his butt, but things worked out well in the end. The bomber was a Saudi national who traveled from Marib, Yemen to Saudi Arabia under the guise of surrendering, and no one was killed but the bomber.

Yemen today arrested three random possible al Qaeda in Marib. The governor of Marib, Naji Al-Zayedi, said there had been a significant number of leading members of Al-Qaeda in Marib, headed by Yemeni Nasser Al-Wahishi and large numbers of followers, among them Yemenis, Saudis, Libyans, Moroccans, Egyptians and Algerians, the Saudi Gazette reported. (If Marib is an ungoverned region, what does the governor do all day?) “The tightening of security, however, has forced them to flee to other areas,” Al-Zayedi said.

While Yemen faces many challenges in countering al Qaeda, one difficulty is the security forces are subverted. In March, a suicide bombing in Hadramout killed several South Korean tourists. Days later, another twisted teen-aged suicide bomber targeted a convoy of South Korean officials, laying in wait as the route was known in advance. Fortunately, no one was killed in the second attack but the bomber.

In other news, the Yemeni government’s blockade on humanitarian aid for war refugees from the sixth Sa’ada War remains in place. The UN reported today that it could only reach 10,000 people this month down from 95,000 in July. The UNHCR appealed for funds from the international community and the Muslim world in particular. The US donated 2.5 million in wheat and beans. There are an estimated 150,000 civilians without food, water or medicine since the war broke out three weeks ago.

Yesterday, the Yemeni government rejected out of hand the rebels offer of a humanitarian cease fire. The rebels posted a video showing the surrender of the 105th armored military brigade. (Independent reporting on the Sa’ada war is non-existent as reporters have been largely banned from the region since the wars began in 2004.) The rebels also set up an office in Najaf, Iraq, which some Iraqi Shiite lawmakers feel is fine considering Yemen’s overt and covert support for Ba’athist and al Qaeda terror operations targeting the Iraqi government (and civilians). If the Sa’ada war continues to internationalize at the rate its going, its really going to get messy. Yemenis may be the new Palestinians, for the Shiite world at least. Iran anyone?

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?
