THE unofficial leader of the Uighurs, Rebiya Kadeer, used her visit to Australia to urge the Federal Government to take a stand over China’s violent repression in her homeland…and to try to persuade Australia to take the remaining Uighur detainees from Guantanamo Bay.
Kadeer was here for the launch at the Melbourne International Film Festival of a documentary about her life and her people’s struggle.
The Uighurs say the Chinese Government is committing “cultural genocide” by banning the teaching of Uighur in schools, discriminating against Uighurs in jobs, closing mosques and demolishing ancient Uighur cities such as Kashgar, on the Silk Road.
Mrs Kadeer put the death toll in the July 5 demonstrations in Xinjian at more than 1000…the Chinese security forces fired on 10,000 Uighur demonstrators. Five thousand were arrested in the following days, she said.
As for the 13 Uighurs in Guantanamo Bay, who were declassified as enemy combatants in 2005, and whom the US has asked Australia to take, Kadeer says “Australia has nothing to fear.” Read it all>>

There is something seriously wrong with Ms Kadeer.
She seems to be riding on the fact that she commands respect by bashing non muslims in china & worldwide.
She even mentioned that if people (non muslims) do not follow what she says, 1 million muslims will riot, and cause unimmaginable carnage.
She has the same trait like Benazir Bhutto, they both incite hatred & riots, one in Uighur & another in Kashmir.
And the world is soo blind to see this bully at work.

I suggest though that you watch real news and read real reports and not blogs. The fact is that the demonstrations in this last few days were not the chinese but the local indigenous and they were the ones demonstrating about being attacked by needles. Good post Mullah. Maori television recently showed her movie..10 conditions of love…It seemed well made , reasonable…then they showed a doco from the Chinese..Very short on history , very propoganda like which focused on the riots of awhile back..but it also included taped telephone conversations of Kadeer and her associates which proved that they did instigate the riots. I would say they are not very bright..the movie would go down well in most parts of the world but attacking people with AIDS filled syringes is hardly going to win you any supporters.

I just read in our papers that green MP Keith Locke intends to invite Kadeer to NZ to speak. His mother was a big time commie years ago. He appears to have a bob each way , being a commie and supporting the muslims. No doubt the whole syringe issue won’t get much media attention here. I stayed in china before, The condition and stories over there are very different from what is reported in the MSM.
One this for sure that the MSM never reports what the Uighurs separators actually did. In a country like china, where unity os forged via a singular concept & language, efforts was taken since 600 years ago to make this conversion.
And the conversion was complete 200 years later.
Never did the Chinese government oppress the people of Uighur. A national school only teaches national curriculum all over china, there are special school that caters for Uighurs & these are private schools.
On the note that China blocks the Uighur’s culture? Rubbish.
The separatist were forcing every Uighur to be called as a Race not as a Chinese as mandated as part of China. The claim that to be a Uighur, One must be a muslim. The harass & humiliate non muslims in Uighur for over 30 years systematically. They even stopped kids from getting a decent education.
When the numbers grew, they started to get Organized. The leaders (not Kadeer at that time) knew that when they fight, muslims from around the world were paying. The more that fight, the richer they get.
Ms Kadeer joined the band wagon. She was involved for a long time, but shes no leader.
They just want Uighur to be autonomous and ruled as an Islamic state. Just like any other Islamic population. They make the people stupid & get them to fight & die for allah while they get rich & make a movie deal.
I agree that the Chinese government could handle this better as they seem to make the same mistakes overtime. But 1 thing the Chinese government never does, it never let down its people. It will defend the people collectively regardless of race & religion.

It is the Han Chinese who are being attacked. However the Han Chinese are not the native ethnic group in this region. IMHO Ms. Kadeer should be arrested and sent back to PRC. If you remember that I said that oppression creates radicalism and there is no doubt that after so many years of oppression that radicals who have infiltrated are making things worse.
I also think that this Kadeer is a political ratbag and trouble maker but there are facts that are the basis for many issues. The people are Turkic so they are not ethnically a part of the Chinese and their identity is suppressed. Any complaint results in oppression. They have a language that is suppressed in schools with occassionally the governemnt relenting when things are good and when things are not, they are no longer allowed to learn their language in state schools. Arguing about private schools is mute, considring that the population is not wealthy. There is also no doubt, it has been a subject of complaint over 30 plus years, in the UN, condemned by most nations, the right to practice any religion is supressed, be it publically or at home in private with very limited and State-run managed.

But like hundreds of her sisters and brothers in faith, she has to practise her religion secretly in Muslim Morocco.
At the moment, Moroccan Christians are preparing to celebrate Christmas clandestinely at home, possibly in the presence of a pastor who also has to hide his faith.
“We have to live as if we were criminals,” says a young Christian woman from Casablanca. People who reveal their conversion risk being banished by their families and marginalized by their communities [...]
The question comes to mind, if your a Christian and you are in Casablanca, why not go to the 12 or so Churches or to the large Cathedral in the centre of the city? Why hide?

All analysts are unanimous that the unrest and animosity between the two ethnicity’s is unrelated to religion, but in contradiction to all the analysis and reports available Spencer makes the claim that the violence has “nothing to do with the tensions between the two ethnicity’s.” Instead, he implies this is an offensive by Uighur Muslims propelled by their religion to randomly and non-sensically stab non-Muslims, i.e. what he terms “syringe Jihad.”

Im very firm with this, China is a nation, not a collective government. The history of Tibet is very wrong to start with & when China liberated Tibet, no one complained, when they freed the slaves, everyone supported them, And now this? It only ask that everyone in its nation are united & follow 1 system. Like it or not, thats the only way they moved out from the slump they were in. Read the history of China, Rape of Nanking etc before you run your keyboard.

2. Muslims that convert out of Islam face humiliation, Death threats, and many times, killed.
