Kaw,

I agree with a great deal of what you say, and there are significant problems in the Muslism world right now - that has never been denied.

Be sure I disagree with you on some critical points, that radical islamists use religion as their excuse has been a historic reality for all faiths. Though in all cases it has been political, social and racial, it still has had the religios claim. Even the core origins of confilcts such as the fighting of Northern Ireland (that used terrorism and bombs) was based on Catholic-Protestant differences and priests did side and participate.

Your saying that you spotted untruths in the quotes but most is correct I think has to be put to task and into perspective. The anti-Islam movement has used time and time again quotes from the Qur'an to justify themselves and yes they are real quotes, but are they in context and are they correct? The Blog-owner for his agenda will say they claim hate, but he has yet to prove or give reference that this is being what is spouted in every mosque in the world, that the average Muslim anywhere in the world is plannign and taught to be evil. He certainly has not proved and avoided that such "evil" and sinister acts are promoted, spouted, claimed upon the world by the Five Schools of Islam - none have done so. That is the point, it is all his argument.

There are five central authorities in Islam and they are silent, governements for the most part are silent and they are rapped up in politics and fear. Fear because these radicals control the madrassas which in turn are often the only source of education in the most poor of nations, thus governments in these areas are afraid if the radicals turn on them.

What must be thought about, is the political agenda of blog-owners on sites like this and why they are doing what they are. What is the end-goal of their argument, not the other posters, but them. This blog-owner wants Islam gone, something frankly speaking is not going to happen and thus what is the motive to create such a hate?

If this blog in fact had showned the evil acts of individual and muslim groups I would have supported it and added to it. But it has not.

Islam's major problem is that it uses the koran to "interpret" the Bible,
resulting in all sorts of errors - jihad being somewhat minor compared
to denying that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, or that He was crucified.

The Bible has a solution to islam and its "interpretations" of God's
truths, but it is not particularly pleasant for the muslims involved,
and for its false prophet.

* how did Geelong find its way into the discussion??

Solkhar, in one of his role-plays, purports to support Geelong. Not something the average former Dutch diplomat / Moroccan resident
might normally be familiar with.

You have a point Solkhar., but it touches a a very "grey" (neither black nor white and thus not clear) region of this discussion. The problem is that the "bad" muslims use their faith to clearly justify their actions to themselves and others, and that no central authority exists which can say "No - you cannot justify this "bad" action in terms of the faith" and is accepted by all muslims. So who has the correct interpretation of the islamic religious texts?? From the construction of the quran and the religion I don't think that there can be an answer to this question . this is of concern. I feel that in a very real sense the failure of those who have interpreted islam in the "wrong" way cannot be separated from the faith itself. Some of the material found in this blog is not correct - but the significant majority of it is correct, at least to my understanding For my part I have no problems with harshly treating those who use islam, or any faith, to justify violence.

You just exposed yourself again as the pathological liar you are, Solkie.

But your smearjob don't stick:

We don't need to "demonize the faith" because the doctrine of Islam speaks for itself.

"The acts of bad Muslims?" How so? The Muslim terrorists, in their own words, believe they follow the prophet, the Koran and the hadith. Have a go at them. Prove them wrong!

We believe them because we study the doctrine and we connect the dots. We don't need to "make up material", the texts are ALWAYS in context and your drivel belongs in the toilet bowl of the Islamic propaganda madrassa that schooled you!

"This blog does not demonize islam "

Kaw,

That is incorrect, it does. If it was reacting to the actions of Muslims I would be supporting it but it does not. It demonizes the faith and not the acts of bad Muslims, it makes up material, reinterprets or just places texts out of context and thus belongs in the toilet-bowl that bigoted right-wing propoganda comes from.

Solkhar,
Islam does its own demonizing - not a word would be raised about islam if islamists did not behave as they do! This blog does not demonize islam - it simply responds to specific acts that are attributed to muslims. I know the history of these cartoons very well - and I do not agree that the threat of violence should have been used to withdraw them - where does one draw the line? If muslims cannot accept that others have a right to ridicule their beliefs then islam and the rest of the world will be in conflict for a very long time. I hope that the moderate majority can start controlling the direction of islam.

Mullah . how did Geelong find its way into the discussion?? Ooops that right - the AFL is on soon.

The posting is in response to the first poster and thus is relevant for that. It is also relevant to the fact that as much as you think the blog is about Islam and integration into the west, it is in fact just there to demonize Islam. So the relevancy continues by showing that it is not only Islam and that they are attacked as well.

As for Zakaria, I support the man, and anyhow the entire article is a self-confessed farse because you will notice the only person of note mentioned that condemned the removal of the cartoons was Bush's greatest failure - ex-UN Ambassador John Bolton.

Solkhar, we know about this guy - and yes the extreme far right is dangerous, as is the extreme far left, as are islamists, as were the protestant terrorists in Nth. Ireland, as were their catholic counterparts, as are the hindu extremists, etc etc.
However, this blog is meant to discuss islam, and why many muslims cannot fit into western society, This blog is only about difficulties related to muslims - I cannot speak for the owner but I don't think the blog was intended as an anti- terrorist platform in the most general sense. What specifically does your post have to do with the possible abuse of academic freedoms that may have been instigated by Zakaria ?
