Leader of Detroit mosque killed, 11 charged in FBI raids

Detroit imam, leader “a highly placed leader of a nationwide radical fundamentalist Sunni group” killed in FBI raid

“The case involves the Joint Terrorism Task Force and prosecutors from the national security unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.” Nonetheless, stand by for outrage and cries of victimhood from Islamic groups, regardless of what the evidence against this imam contains. “Leader of Detroit mosque killed, 11 charged in FBI raids,” by Paul Egan for the Detroit News, October 28: via Jihad Watch

Was it Qazwini? Or was it Al Huseiny?

Update: I feel sorry for the dog!   An FBI dog was also killed during one of the raids.

Detroit imam and Misunderstander of Islam called followers to “offensive jihad”

He was a good Muslim…

bdullah received at least 20 percent of any profit and claimed the “Prophet Muhammad said that it is okay to participate in theft; as long as that person prays, they are in a good state,” Leone wrote in the affidavit.

“And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war, lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the messenger and for the kinsman (who hath need) and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer…” — Koran 8:41

Group aimed to create an Islamic state

Luqman Ameen Abdullah, 53, also known as Christopher Thomas, was gunned down after refusing to surrender and opening fire when the FBI raided one of the locations, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The men arrested in the raid today were Muslims who were part of a radical group aimed at creating an Islamic state under Islamic law, federal officials allege in a complaint today.  The men were part of a Detroit mosque where a leader called for “an offensive jihad,” according to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

Abdullah was the leader of part of a group which calls themselves Ummah (“the brotherhood”), a group of mostly African-American converts to Islam, which seeks to establish a separate Sharia-law governed state within the United States.

The Ummah is ruled by Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, formerly known as H. Rapp Brown, who is serving a state sentence in USP Florence, CO, ADMAX, for the murder of two police officers in Georgia.

Detroit — The leader of a Detroit mosque was shot and killed Wednesday during a series of FBI raids that resulted in charges against 11 and the death of an FBI dog.

At least six of those charged were in federal custody late Wednesday afternoon.

The case involves the Joint Terrorism Task Force and prosecutors from the national security unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit names Luqman Ameen Abullah, imam of the Masjid Al-Haqq mosque in Detroit, as “a highly placed leader of a nationwide radical fundamentalist Sunni group.” He was killed in the raid, according to a joint statement by federal officials.

More than three people were arrested on charges including conspiracy to commit federal crimes, receipt of stolen goods, providing firearms to felons and changing vehicle identification numbers, said Special Agent Sandra Berchtold, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Detroit. Berchtold also confirmed that an FBI dog was shot and killed in one of the raids.

The operation involved locations in Detroit and Dearborn.

Yellow police tape was put up outside a trucking and warehouse firm on Miller Road just north of Michigan Avenue, and a Dearborn police car was parked outside.

Another site involved in the raids was on Tireman near Interstate 96 on the city’s west side.

“Nothing to do with Islam”

Hugh sez:

Here is most of a report from ABC News about the raid at a warehouse in Dearborn, Michigan: :

“Federal authorities in Detroit say they fatally shot the leader of a radical fundamentalist Sunni Islam group after he failed to surrender on several criminal charges.

The U.S. attorney’s office says Luqman Ameen Abdullah was killed while exchanging gunfire with federal agents Wednesday at a warehouse in Dearborn.

A court document says Abdullah is an imam, or prayer leader, of a radical group whose primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the United States. Authorities say he’s also known as Christopher Thomas.

Abdullah and 10 others were charged today in a criminal complaint with conspiracy and theft of interstate shipments, mail fraud to obtain the proceeds of arson, illegal possession and sale of firearms, and the altering and tampering with vehicle identification numbers (VIN)…..

The case was being investigated by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in Detroit, though the men charged today were not charged with terrorism offenses.

The raid followed a series of recent arrests, including those of a man suspected of plotting attacks against New York, to men in Dallas and Springfield, Ill., accused of being homegrown terrorists.

Imad Hamad, director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, told a local Detroit news channel that he was told the arrests in the latest case were not related to the suspects’ religion.

‘Basically, they assured us that this raid, this initiative, is solely criminal and has nothing to do with Muslims or people of Muslim faith,” he said in a report by the television station WJBK. “I cannot enter any judgment basically about this. Simply, I don’t know them. I got to learn about what I heard today.’”

Now let’s put that statement by Imad Hamad, the one in which he claims he was assured that this raid was “solely criminal and had nothing to do with Muslims or people of Muslim faith” besides the other information given in the story. To wit:

“Federal authorities in Detroit say they fatally shot the leader of a radical fundamentalist Sunni Islam group after he failed to surrender on several criminal charges.

The U.S. attorney’s office says Luqman Ameen Abdullah was killed while exchanging gunfire with federal agents Wednesday at a warehouse in Dearborn.

A court document says Abdullah is an imam, or prayer leader, of a radical group whose primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the United States. Authorities say he’s also known as Christopher Thomas.”

Luqman Ameen Abdullah, the man who was killed and the apparent head of the criminal conspiracy, was a Muslim, an imam or prayer leader. His fellow criminals were, similarly, all Muslims and members of his “radical group” whose “primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the United States.”

Do you agree with Imad Hamad that this raid had nothing to do with Muslims or the Muslim religion.

If you do, then please explain. Write only on one side of the blue books.

  1. Do you agree with Imad Hamad that this raid had nothing to do with Muslims or the Muslim religion.

Absolutely not! It has everything to do with Islam.
They insist on calling it a freaking religion. It is an ideology of conquest, terror and violent jihad that utilizes religion for its recruitment tool.

  2. the authorities did a good job , i applause to those people who keep us safe from those who claimed their are religion of peace , in my oppinion he got what he deserve , and im sure he is now burning in the fire of hell not in the paradise with 72 virgins and river of wines ,. those who convert always are the most dengerious terorist who they brain wash toward other people faithas they are the enemies of their god and their prophet of islam. this country is under attack , GOD help us and keep us safe from those terrorist and the sleeping cell who lives right beside us . so our good agents and the all autorities and the FBI my hat to you for a job well done .

  3. I am retired US Navy and an ex-law enforcement officer. I have worked closely with both citizens and colleagues who were follwers of Islam. I am also familiar with domestic terrorism and international terrorism. In my experiences, I have seen peace-loving people who are followers of Islam who would not feel compelled to draw a gun and shoot at police.

There will be a trial and this will reveal more of the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the events leading up to the raid on the wearhouse and the subsequent shooting and death of Luqman Ameen Abdullah.

My point is that just because Luqman Ameen Abdullah is a follwer of Islam, and in the event that he was involved in criminal behavior, it doen’t mean that such behavior is a reflection on all followers of Islam. Nor was the attacks on the United States in 9/11 a reflection on all followers of Islam.

    1. Nicely worded, Aaron.

I have lived and worked with Muslims and found many peace-loving, hospitable, generous and kind people among them.

Perhaps they didn’t take their Islam seriously. Luqman Ameen Abdullah obviously drank his Islam straight up, undiluted. “You cannot have a nonviolent revolution,” Luqman Ameen Abdullah said, according to a 2008 conversation secretly recorded by a confidential FBI source.

Abdullah told followers that it was their “duty to oppose the FBI and the government and it does not matter if they die” and to “simply shoot a cop in the head” if they wanted the officer’s bulletproof vest, Leon wrote.

Why any black would ever become a Muslim is beyond me. It’s as if they were joining the Klan, given to long and sordid history of Arab racism against and enslavement of sub-Saharan Africans (i.e. blacks).

Blacks join islam because they are led to believe that it is the paragon of total equality! They know nothing about Arab supremacism or islamic history. Most of them convert to islam in prison after hearing islamic sermons aimed at instilling hatred for America and its shameless history of “racism”. They become more resentful and vengeful, blaming all their problems on the establishment instead of themselves. Islam encourages them to become professional thugs and wage war against their own country. I wonder when islam will be banned in this country for being a seditious political movement. The sooner the better.

And you, my dear Aaron, have you read the Koran, sira and hadith? Are you familiar with Islamic teachings?

  4. It is the “god” of islam that is causing the trouble, not the “flesh and blood” followers waging war on its behalf. After the “god” is taken care of, problem solvered!

  5. Agreed Mullah, islam needs to be deconstructed and if it cannot be reformed into something compatible with humanity and progress. then it should be flushed away. But again, the real problem we have is not the islamists, it is the left wing liberals who are doing their very best to destroy our social systems. Get rid of these in short order and the islamists can be easily destroyed. And we should be showing zero tolerance to muslims – two strikes and deportation – even if you are native born.

  6. It is absurd to suggest that Muslims whom you find to be moderate, reasonable, peaceful and otherwise likeable are not fully adhering to their Islamic faith. Those who think in this way are doing themselves and the discourse between Islam and the West a huge disservice.

  7. Might have something to do with CAIR, Muslim Public Affairs Council,
BHO, Keith Ellison, Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago
and other organisations whiteanting Western civilisation from within.

  8. Maybe also “Alliance of Civilisations”, BHO, Desmond Tutu, Ban ki-Moon, “sheik” Ali Gomaa of Egypt and the like …

  9. Islamists Urge Government to Keep Imam’s Faith Out of Detroit Case

The faith of Abdullah and 11 alleged co-conspirators should never have entered the case, argued spokesmen for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

In an interview on WDET-FM in Detroit, CAIR’s Michigan Executive Director Dawud Walid said the emphasis on Islam could trigger a backlash against other Muslims and contribute to Islamophobia. The ADC’s Michigan Regional Director Imad Hamad expressed similar concerns on the same program. Both men indicated that they expressed their concerns to the FBI.

The pressure appeared to take root. At a news conference Thursday, U.S. Attorney Terrence Berg made a point of asking “people not to connect the group, headed by Luqman Ameen Abdullah, with Muslims in general. Abdullah, 53, was killed in a shootout with FBI agents Wednesday at a Dearborn warehouse.

Berg said the group in question ‘is a specific brand of radical ideology.'”

    That ideology is otherwise known as Islam. I S L A M.

    More? here’s more…

The (Muslims) concern was not why Abdullah refused to lower his weapon and fired at agents, but at why he was shot:

“This tragic shooting raises deep concerns regarding the use of lethal force by law enforcement agents.”

An FBI statement said agents considered the suspects to be armed and dangerous, and “special safeguards” were employed to try to make the arrests peacefully. The complaint contains repeated references to Abdullah’s instructions that his followers stay armed and his vow not to be taken by law enforcement. An FBI dog was killed in the shootout that resulted.

  10. It is “allah” and his false prophet that are the architects of both islam and the associated “islamophobia”.

E.g. “make war upon [the unbelievers, such as me] until idolatry is no more and allah’s religion reigns supreme …” (Sura 8:39)

But wait, there’s more, for any infidel neck wanting to feel the blade of allah’s set of steak knives: “[allah] shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, maim them in every limb!”

(and then whine about “islamophobia” & call on the UN to outlaw it)

But judgement day is coming – no allah, no false prophet, no muslims and no more islamic terror & beheadings in allah’s name.

[And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.] Revelation 20:4
