A MAN who head butted a woman supermarket boss was sent to prison for four months by magistrates in Manchester. Mohammed Islam turned nasty after he was unable to pay for a bottle of whisky late at night.
Another man had left Somerfield’s in the city centre with the booze before Islam’s debit card was rejected.
During a violent struggle he head butted Stacey Harper on the forehead and tried to knee her, said prosecutor Gareth Hughes. Islam, 22, of Earle Street, Ashton, who claimed he was drunk, admitted assaulting Miss Harper on October 22.
Mr Hughes said the unknown man had tried to help Islam escape by forcing open the automatic doors.
The man handed back the whisky and then disappeared before the police arrived, the court heard.
In her impact statement Miss Harper said: “This has left me feeling like I don’t want to do my job anymore – I can’t relax.”
The bench told Islam: “This was a very unpleasant assault on a woman who was only doing her duty.”
