Cooling on Phil [Mark Steyn]

On the Warmergate scandal, the Settled Scientists seem to be settling on Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit, as the designated fall guy. George Monbiot in theGuardian:

It’s no use pretending this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them… There appears to be evidence here of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a freedom of information request.
Worse still, some of the emails suggest efforts to prevent the publication of work by climate sceptics, or to keep it out of a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign.
But . . .

I’d skip the “But . . .”. It’s dreary and pro forma stuff. Meanwhile, fellow Settled Scientist Tim Flannery is sounding . . . kinda unsettled:

We’re dealing with an incomplete understanding of the way the earth system works… When we come to the last few years when we haven’t seen a continuation of that (warming) trend we don’t understand all of the factors that create earth’s climate…We just don’t understand the way the whole system works… See, these people work with models, computer modelling. So when the computer modelling and the real world data disagree you’ve got a very interesting problem… Sure for the last 10 years we’ve gone through a slight cooling trend.

Really? Golly, when I said as much a few months back, the excitable lads in the George Soros typing pool at Media Matters denounced it as a “false claim.” Apparently, it’s now safe to say it in polite society.

Climategate: How Faine censored the sceptical news

Andrew Bolt

ABC radio host Jon Faine explains why he will not even discuss a story which has:

* caused an international controversy

shocked world leaders in climate science

Tim Blair

* triggered calls for an inquiry by a former British Chancellor of the Exchequer

* caused fellow Leftist and warmist crusader George Monbiot to call for the resignation of one of the warmist scientists, and complain that fellow Leftists who ignore it are in denial.

* helped to prompt a Liberal revolt against Malcolm Turnbull

* caused warmist crusader Tim Flannery to confess on ABC television for the first time that the world had indeed been cooling, and ”when the computer modelling and the real world data disagrees you have a problem” and “we have to understand why the cooling is occurring, because the current modelling doesn’t reflect it”.

* revealed that one of the co-authors of the IPCC report that Faine cites as gospel conceded ”we can’t account for the lack of warming, it’s a travesty that we can’t”.

So here’s Faine’s explanation for his censorship of what’s clearly a huge story with serious ramifications:

We make decisions every day [based] on our own opinions about what we think are the main stories. And what we leave out is often as important as what we put in, and that was my judgement of this issue..

That was my assessment of whether this was actually of any significance or not, and I decided that it wasn’t and we wouldn’t spend time on it. It suits the conspiracy theorists beautifully…
It was a small, even a tiny fragment of a sidebar of a secondary issue to the edge of the periphery of something people were talking about other than the main game. That’s how I saw it.

It suits the “conspiracy theorists beautifully”. In other words, it suits the sceptics – and that must not be allowed to happen.

Unprofessional doesn’t quite cover it. Scandalous is much closer.

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?

HOLD YOUR HORSES [DONKEYS]/[ASSES] OR [WHATEVER]
We seemed to have been rushed into a position at a VERY timely
moment for ONE Australian political party.

Sheikh, who sent in this piece of information? Did anyone check ALL of it?

This is a fake cover, btw. look here for proof, there wasn’t even a time magazine on Nov. 25th.

disregarding the completely low quality of the cover, and the unusually blurry date….. this is just disappointing.’

Go into the Time Magazine link and SURE ENOUGH, there is no 25th November 2009.

As an aside to the Dubai story, here is the link from Time Magazine that I warned about the $80 billion hole in the Emirates budget that is now shaking the Global Sharemarket Exchanges to its core. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1929221,00.html

Yes, I forgot about the ‘more than ONE link’ rule.

sheikyermami November 28, 2009 at 4:32 am

Of course its a hoax.

Time mag under the inspired leadership of Fareed Zakaria, son of an Indian imam who advises us to ‘live with terrorism’ and writes books on a “post America” (which the Obama-bastard reads with glee) would never print the truth.

But hey, this is a satirical blog. We take the piss out of these creeps. Just wondering: is anybody listening?

Dhumme Dhimmi November 28, 2009 at 5:55 am

OF COURSE! Bloodly Hell! Is no Western Institution safe?

Then, how did the $80 billion HOLE story get published?

That was one that got away!
