Update from Infidels are Cool:
With the last arrests within the army of opponents of AKP’s not-very-well-hidden Islamism,  the power of the Fethullah Gulen movement, an Islamist, hard-line movement grows stronger, that, if wins, can destroy Ataturk legacy. And it looks it can actually win./More
Yep. That quote came from Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. Just like this one:  “No Muslim could commit a genocide!!”
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan worked hard last week denying
the 1915 genocide of Christian Armenians (genocide pictured above).
This week, he’ll fly down to Saudi Arabia to receive the Muslim world’s
‘Nobel Prize’ – which is awarded to individuals who make the world
a ‘better place’ through ‘positive contributions’ in ‘service to Islam’.
In the wake of the U.S. congressional vote to recognize the 1915 massacre of Armenians as a genocide, Turkey has ramped up its retaliatory rhetoric against the United States. The Turkish government is now threatening to deny the American military access to Incirlik Air Base. (GoV)
A mountain has moved in Turkish politics. All shots against the military are now fair game, including those below the belt. The force behind this dramatic change is the Fethullah Gulen Movement (FGH), an ultraconservative Islamic political faction that backs the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). More>>

Islamofascist Erdogan Purges Military
Military men allegedly planned to blow up mosques in order to trigger a military takeover and overthrow Erdogan gov’t.
ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish police detained about 50 military commanders Monday for allegedly planning to blow up mosques in order to trigger a military takeover and overthrow the Islamic-rooted government.
The nationwide sweep highlighted the ongoing struggle between the secular establishment and the Islamic-oriented government — and left many wondering if the military no longer called the shots in a nation accustomed to viewing it as the pillar of the secular state.
The detention of 49 senior military officers, according to CNN-Turk television — including members of the elite class known as “Pashas,” a title of respect harking back to Ottoman times — proved, at the very least, that such officials are no longer untouchable. J’Post
Baron Bodissey has an update:
Yet more officers in the Turkish army have been arrested by the Erdogan government for conspiracy in an alleged plot to overthrow the government in 2003. This seems a self-confident move by the Islamist government to de-fang the army and remove one of the main bastions of the secular Turkish state. the full news post
In other news, the demise of the euro now seems all but inevitable, since international financier George Soros and other major hedge-fund managers have decided to bet against it.
From Carl in J’lem:
“Turkey is under the attack of foreign powers, firstly the U.S., secondly Israel.”
A Turkish film company that once released a film showing a Jewish doctor stealing organs from Muslims in Iraq is going to release a film set in ‘Palestine‘ in November.
I don’t know about the rest of you Israelis, but I am tiring of the Turks. When they were a secular country with a large Muslim population, they were a good bridge to the Muslim world, but since they’ve essentially become Islamic, I don’t see the difference between them and Egypt, Jordan or Lebanon. We don’t need another hostile country among our ‘friends.’ I don’t trust the Turks.
