“No Compulsion in Religion” – doesn’t apply in Egypt

Two Egyptian twin boys have said, “We refuse to be Muslims by force,” after losing a court case.

Middle East journalist, Mary Abdelmassih, writing for the Assyrian International News Agency explained the background to this controversial case.

“On March 30 [2010] an administrative judicial court in Egypt dismissed a lawsuit filed by Mrs. Camilia Lutfi, mother of the Coptic Christian twins boys Mario and Andrew, against the Interior Minister, and the director of the Civil Status Department for refusing to re-instate the Christian religion on their birth certificates, and invalidate those which were forcefully changed to ‘Islam’ in 2005 by their father Medhat Ramsis Labib, who had converted to Islam.” More

The sign say that photographs on site are allowed only after speaking with site personal – as much as I don’t want the Mosque there, the sign is harmless and follows standard safety protocols.

  2. People are so easily taken in as the first comment reveals. It is more normal in islamic countries not to take photographs, even if you are enjoying a luxury hotel beside the pool, often notices abound that no photographs are to be taken. The same applies to oil refineries, and other installations which they like to keep secret for whatever stupid reason. In fact generally speaking no photographs are allowed of anything. The above writer is out of touch with the reality of islamic fundamentalism, because that is what it is. furthermore, in strict islamic homes no photographs are allowed anywhere. period. Get the picture!

  3. The No Photography sign is clearly on a part of the site fence where there is no public access onto the site. Occ Health & Safety notices are normally placed on or near the site entrance, & this is where a “no photo on site” notice might be expected. I have never seen such a sign on a construction site.

Typical site signage, usually on or near the site entrance(s):

  4. Dear all,
I have seen these signs on the bounding fences here in Germany. Additionally there will have been one at the site entrance. Also, if the building has a large circumference then several such signs will have been placed – again I have seen that where I live in Germany. However, while Beema makes a good point, the German government do not follow Sharia. Take it as a happy coincidence that the observations coincide, but I think that nothing more can be taken out of this photo.
