Mark Steyn: Obama’s nuke summit dangerously delusional

In years to come – assuming, for the purposes of argument, there are any years to come – scholars will look back at President Barack Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit and marvel. For once, the cheap comparisons with 1930s appeasement barely suffice: To be sure, in 1933, the great powers were meeting in Geneva and holding utopian arms-control talks even as Hitler was taking office in Berlin. But it’s difficult to imagine Neville Chamberlain in 1938 hosting a conference on the dangers of rearmament, and inviting America, France, Brazil, Liberia and Thailand …but not even mentioning Germany.

Yet that’s what Obama just did: He held a nuclear gabfest in 2010, the biggest meeting of world leaders on American soil since the founding of the United Nations 65 years ago – and Iran wasn’t on the agenda. More By MARK STEYN

Madrid: Girl expelled from school for wearing hijab

A 16-year-old schoolgirl has been banned from classes in Spain after refusing to remove her Islamic headscarf, re-igniting the national debate over the hijab. “I feel totally discriminated against,” said Miss Malha, who said she began wearing the hijab two months ago as an expression of her religious belief.  Last November, a Muslim lawyer was ejected from Spain’s national court, where she was defending a client, because she refused to remove her headscarf.

Belgium could be first in Europe to ban burqa

Pakistan: Jihadists dressed in burqas murder 41 in double jihad/martyrdom bombing

War Is Deceit, after all, but I can’t help but wonder about the implications of stories like this for the West. Multiculturalists are in a tizzy about attempts to ban the burqa in France and elsewhere, and American officials apologize profusely for asking a Muslim woman to remove her hijab (which is, of course, a far cry from a burqa) for a driver’s license photo — but what about the security hazards posed by the nature of the burqa itself? “Bombers dressed in burkas kill 41 in Pakistan: Officials were distributing food to refugees when explosions went off,” from The Associated Press

  1. * Belgium could be first in Europe to ban burqa

Herald Sun reporter Sally Morrell came face to face with burkas in middle class Hawthorn (Melb) and reacted with loathing. Will she be
    offered “sensitivity training”?

(I guess the HS accepts them in Broadmeadows or Footscray)

[IT was in Hawthorn, of all middle-class suburban places, that I saw them. And where my dislike of the full-face burqa turned to loathing. ]

[Now I shudder at the sight of the burqa and no longer feel like defending it.]

  2. I used to think that the yanks were, bye and large , men, by accepting this madness called” political correctness”, the whole nation looks like a mob of ponces William Shakespeare said “A horse is a horse is a horse” in other words,a horse is what it is,no matter what you call it.
