Backlash for Fethullah Gulen's Jihad: U.S. Court Upholds Reality Of Armenian Genocide

Family Security Matters/Dr Paul Williams

Fethullah Gulen, who seeks to establish a universal caliphate, is weeping again.

The radical Turkish imam, who seeks to revive the Ottoman Empire and to establish a universal caliphate, has spent millions to convince U.S. legislators and public school administrators that the Armenian holocaust of 1915 never occurred since it was a myth perpetrated by Western historians.

But Gulen’s attempt to whitewash history has been rejected by a US appeals court, which upheld a ruling that blocks schools in the state of Massachusetts from teaching literature that denies the mass killing of Armenian Christians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 as genocide.

The ruling came in response to a 2005 lawsuit filed by the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, a US lobbying under the control of Gulen and his movement of militant Islamists. A lower court dismissed the suit in June, and the appeals court upheld that decision on Wednesday.

State curriculum in Massachusetts requires schools to teach a unit about the Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, and other “recognized human rights violations and genocides.

The appeals court ruled that “law would not allow the genocide denial actions that the plaintiffs sought.”

Historians have concluded that more than one million Armenians were killed in 1915, and contemporaneous reports from newspapers and foreign embassies often called the killings “systematic.”

The International Association of Genocide Scholars affirmed in 2005 that the killings were genocide.

Gulen’s lobbying group maintains that less than 100,000 Armenian Christians were put to death by the Ottoman Turks and that the killings were part of a broader civil unrest.

Though denial of the Armenian holocaust is now outlawed in Massachusetts, other states have not followed suit and Gulen’s whitewashed version is taught in schools throughout the country, including the hundreds of Gulen charter schools that have cropped up on American soil in recent years.

Gulen fled from his native Turkey in 1998 to escape arrest for attempting to overthrow the secular Turkish government.

With his vast fortune – – estimated in excess of $25 billion, he took up residence in Pennsylvania, where he established a mountain fortress on 45 acres of land in Saylorsburg.

From Pennsylvania, he established thousands of Gulen schools (Islamic madrassas) throughout Turkey and Central Asia. The schools serve to indoctrinate students in the tenets of militant Islam and the plans for a universal caliphate.

It’s been alleged that Gulen also used his funds – – reportedly derived from the CIA and the drug trade – – to establish the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP) in Turkey.

The AKP now remains in control of Turkey’s government.

Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey’s Council of Higher Education.

Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – – one for every 350- citizens – – the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – – and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

The Gulen schools in the United States are funded by US taxpayers and benefactors, such as Bill Gates of Microsoft fame. In Texas alone, the schools receive over $44 million in public funds.

Gulen, who has established ties to leading American politicians from Hillary Clinton to George W. Bush, has been called “the most dangerous Islamist on earth.”

  1. The Armenian genocide is just one among many that the Turks have committed in their long war against Europe. Their brutal occupation and subjugation of Austrians, Greeks, Hungarians, Romanians, and specially Serbs, has few equals except the mass genocide inflicted on Hindus in India by Islam.

There is no place for Turkey in EU or NATO.

  2. I totally agree. Turkey is no friend to the West now that Erdogan is in power. He is another working for the “ANTICHRIST”.

  3. Turkey has never been a friend to the West from even before the AKP took power. The problem is . . . Islam!

  4. The modern Turkish person lives under the cloak of darkness and lies of their history prior to forming the Republic of Turkey in 1924. The Ottoman Turkish Empire is an embarassment to them, they are taught that their senseless invasions and genocides were justified because the victims were “traitors” or had killed Turkish people.
I guess woman and children fit that category as well? After the Armenian Genocide there were over 100,000 Armenian Orphans scattered to many orphanges raised by Danish, Greek, French, Lebanese and American Missionaries who kept distinct records of the atrocities that no child should ever have to witness. There are extensive records throughout Europe and the USA on the Armenian Genocide orchestrated by the 3 Pashas. Article 301 the censorship still used today in Turkey against any journalist who dare speak the truth about the dark days of the Ottoman. Many brave Turkish Journalists have spoken up only to be charged for “insulting Turkishness” under Article 301. Nobel prize winner Orhan Pamuk was charged with Article 301 and called a “traitor”. Authors Taner Akcam and Fethiye Cetin both have suffered the same prejudices for daring to speak the truth. Fethiye Cetin, is a Turkish Attorney and author who wrote of discovering her maternal grandmother was an Armenian Orphan. Censorship is wrong, it is tactics like this that will keep Turkey from ever joining the European Union. As well as Turkoskepticism–Europe doesn’t forget the ugly expansionsim of the Ottomans neither do the other genocides at the hands of the Turk: Kurds, Assyrians, Pontic Greeks, Armenians, Cypriot Greeks, Greeks, Bulgarians, Serbia, Balkans, Lebanese.
For those that deny history are doomed to repeat it.

  5. Gulen movement participants have founded a number of institutions across the world which promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue activities. During the 1990s he began to advocate interreligious tolerance and dialogue. He personally met with leaders of other religions, including Pope John Paul II, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomeos, and Israeli Sephardic Head Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron.

  6. it seems that Gulen’s inflitration into Turkey’s education, politics, media, and military are under investigation especially after a tell all book by a Turkish Police Chief. Next will be an investigation in America on the mismanagement of funds surrounding the 140 US Charter Schools that the Gulen Movement manages.

  7. “In the case of the multi-layer network of foundations and institutes over the Gulen Charter schools money is laundered from foundation to foundation, school to foundation, or Arizona state money crossing over to other states to help support other Gulen managed Charter schools as in the case of our tax dollars bailing the Beehive Science Academy in Utah (which is now on probation)
Gulen is behind the lobbying groups in Washington DC (Rumi Forum and the Assembly of Turkic Amiercan Federations in Washington) Our education tax money is going to support these lobbying groups. This is racketeering, and misuse of tax dollars.
There are several expense entries on Daisy Education Corporation’s 990 Tax Returns and their other Foundations/Institutes expenses that are non-educated related: “other fees”, “extra-curricular activities” “marketing fees” “consultation fees” and more. It is a known fact that the Gulen Charter schools pay fees to the Gulen foundations like: Daisy Education, Accord Institute, Concept Schools, Cosmos Foundation, etc. the foundation in turn put together the Turkish Olympiads, trips to Turkey and finance the HB-1 Visas for the non-credentialed teachers. Follow the money trail, you will find that the American Taxpayers are not just paying for education but we are financing a movement and their lobbying efforts in the USA. ”

Gulen also has a layer of Interfaith Dialog insitutes thorughout the USA where they wine and dine local religious groups and politicians who get trips to Turkey and Turkish socials with Turkish dinners.

Bill Gates Funds Gulen Islamist Movement
    Paul Williams, PhD

The Fethullah Gulen movement, which seeks to restore the Ottoman Empire, has found a friend and benefactor in Bill Gates of Microsoft fame. Mr. Gates is ranked the third wealthiest person on planet earth.

In 2007, through the Texas High School Project, the Gates Foundation shelled out $10,550,000 to the Cosmos Foundation, a Gulen enterprise that operates 25 publicly funded charter schools in Texas.

The Internal Revenue Service Form 990 for Cosmos shows that the Cosmos Foundation received $41,570,721 from taxpayers.

At present, there are 85 Gulan madrassahs (Islamic schools) in the United States, and all operate with public funding.

At the Gulen schools, students are indoctrinated in Turkish culture, language, and religion so that they may be of service in making Fethullah Gulan’s dream of a universal caliphate a reality. The madrassahs sponsor Turkish clubs, Turkish language societies, Turkish dance groups, and annual trips to Istanbul.

According to Stephen Schwartz of the Center for Islamic Pluralism, the 85 Gulen schools advance and promote Islamic beliefs; present the Ottoman Empire, which lasted from 1299 to 1923, as a golden age; and serve to rewrite history by denying the Armenian holocaust under the Turks during World War I.

Many of the teachers at these schools are Turkish émigrés with questionable credentials. Some possess H-1B non immigrant visas which should only be granted to individuals who possess “highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor.” The female faculty members appear in their classrooms wearing hijabs and traditional Islamic attire.

Critics can’t understand why the schools are staffed with imported elementary and secondary school teachers when thousands of trained and certified American educators are begging for teaching positions. But are the schools really subversive?

Rachel Sharon-Krespin writes: “His (Gulen’s) followers target youth in the eighth through twelfth grades, mentor and indoctrinate them in the ışıkevi, educate them in the Fethullah schools, and prepare them for future careers in legal, political, and educational professions in order to create the ruling classes of the future Islamist, Turkish state.”

Even more telling is a comment from Nurettin Veren, Gulen’s right hand man for 35 years, who said: “These schools are like shop windows. Recruitment and Islamization are carried out through nigh classes.

The use of the Islamic practice of taqiyya or deception to mask the true nature of the schools has been upheld by Gulen himself. In a 1999 sermon, the Turkish pasha offered the following advice to his followers:

You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers … until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this. If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 [in] Syria … like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right. You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it … You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey … Until that time, any step taken would be too early—like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside. The work to be done is [in] confronting the world. Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all -in confidence … trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here – [just] as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here.

Fethullah Gulen has been called the “most dangerous Islamist” in the world. He has amassed a fortune – thanks, in part, to the CIA – of $25 billion. This money has been used to transform the secular government of Turkey into an Islamic Republic under the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP) – a party under the Gulen’s control.

Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey’s Council of Higher Education. Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – one for every 350 citizens – the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – – and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Gulen has also established thousands of schools throughout central Asia and Europe. Because of their subversive nature, these schools have been outlawed in Russia and Uzbekistan. Even the Netherlands, a nation that embraces pluralism and tolerance, has opted to cut funding to the Gulen schools because of their imminent threat to the social order.
