Britain fears Islamic fury over WikiLeaks: Report
LONDON: The British government has warned that its citizens in Pakistan, Iraq, Iran and other parts of the Muslim world could be targeted in a violent backlash over “anti-Islamic” views expressed in diplomatic documents being leaked this week, media reports said on Sunday.
The whistle-blower website WikiLeaks is to release almost 3 million documents on the internet, including thousands of sensitive diplomatic cables sent to Washington from the American embassy in London, The Sunday Times reported.

The Bunglawussi is enraged and sees conspiracy at work:
This isn’t the first time that Channel 4 has used Muslims in a cynical attempt to provoke outrage. Four years ago they had the bright idea of persuading a veiled Muslim woman to deliver an “alternative Chistmas message”, to be broadcast in direct opposition to the Queen’s annual Christmas Day message. This stunt played right into the hands of anti-Muslim bigots who want to portray Islam as a hostile and alien ideology. But what did Channel 4 programmers care about that? They’d succeeded in generating controversy and gaining cheap publicity, and assisting the political right in whipping up Islamophobia was a price worth paying. The same irresponsible motives would appear to lie behind the decision to give airtime to unrepresentative nutters like Anjem Choudary and Abu Nusaybah. (More)

A CITY MP last night appealed for calm amid rising fears of Muslim fury if sensitive diplomatic documents were leaked online this week.
The whistle-blower website WikiLeaks is due to release almost 3 million documents on the internet which are believed to express “anti-Islamic” views. The threatened leaks are causing huge concern in London and Washington the UK government has warned that its citizens in Pakistan, Iraq, Iran and other parts of the Muslim world could be targeted in a violent backlash.
Last night Khalid Mahmood, Labour MP for Perry Barr, said: “I would appeal for calm in the Muslim communities of Birmingham.
“We do not yet know the details of these leaks but if they are anti-Islamic then I would remind people that they are just the views of a small minority of bureaucrats who have no idea about the reality of life in British cities these days and they do not represent the views of the Government.
“These are just the views of individuals and although potentially disappointing they should not be overblown.”
The series of revelations were expected to begin late last night and be ‘drip fed’ over the week.
It is also feared the leaks will put a fresh strain on the ‘special relationship’ between Britain and the U.S.
The documents are said to include an ‘embarrassing’ assessment of David Cameron by the U.S. administration.

* The Bunglawussi is enraged and sees conspiracy at work…
If there is a conspiracy afoot, it is not the one the Bunglawussi fears – just the normal commitment to “diversity” that compels Britain to its doom, like some Greek siren luring it onto the rocks of oblivion…
http://www.channel4.com/about4/diversity.html
[Channel 4's remit is to innovate and appeal to everyone - different cultures, nationalities, religious persuasions, physical and mental abilities, sexual orientation, races and ages. ]
[In everything we do we seek to respect people for who they are, not what they are. We judge people only for the way they do their job and for what they can contribute. We aim to foster an environment in which everyone feels free to contribute without fear and to maximise his or her potential without unfair impediment.]
* Doesn’t matter that they may wish to destroy the State that funds them.
[The Diversity Pledge isn't about talk - it's about action that will bring real change to the industry. It's a public commitment by independent production companies and in-house producers to take measurable steps to improve diversity in the industry.
If broadcasting is to be more diverse, companies must embrace the diversity challenge. Diversity isn't just about a particular group; instead it's an inclusive approach that encourages talent and participation regardless of background, gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief.]
Suppliers are expected to sign up to join the lemmings:
[Channel 4, BBC, Sky, ITV, Turner and Virgin Media Television expect their suppliers to sign up to the initiative and it's anticipated other CDN members will do the same.
The Editorial Specification forms for Channel 4, BBC, ITV and Sky specifically ask if a company has signed up to the pledge.]
