Oh noes! Here's the Dalli-man again, dabbling in "misunderstood" Islam…

Islam misunderstood: Dalai Lama

Indian Express (thanks to Mullah)

One’s understanding of Islam should not be “generalised” and based on the activities of a few people, the Dalai Lama said on Tuesday.

The Dalai Lama has given the clearest sign yet that he is preparing to retire from political life, possibly within a year. (SMH)

The Tibetan spiritual leader was speaking at Jamia Millia Islamia’s convocation after receiving the Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) from Jamia’s Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung.

“Islam has been misunderstood due to some mischievous people who happened to have an Islamic background,” he said, referring to the September 11 “event”.

The Dalai Lama, who began his speech in Tibetan, switched over to English, prefacing it with a lengthy apology for his broken English.

Newsline had reported on Tuesday that the Ministry of External Affairs finally gave its assent to awarding the Dalai Lama, winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, with a doctorate. “His humanism has always triumphed over politics — his message of compassion, altruism and peace has made him a statesman for our troubled times,” states the degree citation.

No mention about his greed. If he had any integrity, he wouldn’t sell out to the soldiers of Allah.

  1. It must have been those same misunderstanders of Islam who wiped out Buddhism from Afghanistan and India.

OTH, it is clear that this same misunderstanding of the true nature of Islam by Buddhists in Afghanistan and India, that led to the demise of Buddhism in both these countries. So in a way, the Dalai Lama and I’m sure some of his followers, share their misunderstanding of Islam with the Jihadis. The only difference is that their misunderstanding is not the same.

  2. What a self-serving, sell-us-all-out little SALESMAN!

    Sure, he’s a “religious” salesman, but still…
    All politicians are salesmen
    All salesmen are liars.
    All liars are thieves.

(Lying is the most basic form of theft: it’s theft of the Truth).

  3. He’s in Montreal this year, still doing the “few mischievous people” line of BS – of course, if you criticize islam for this, you have to criticize Christianity or Judaism too …

“Anyone coming to say ‘I can kill you in the name of my religion’ is not following their religion,” said Tariq Ramadan, a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at Oxford University. He said people must have the courage to stand up to brethren who invoke God’s name in their unholy battles.

“If you criticize Islam due to the acts of a few mischievous people, you will need to criticize Christianity or Judaism, too,” said the Dalai Lama, his English not quite up to knowing the word mischief doesn’t cut it when you kill 3,000 people.
