Taxi Jihad in Perth: 4 Face Charges

Thanks to kaw/Perth Now

FEMALE taxi passengers have been warned about personal safety after three Perth taxi drivers were charged with sex offences against patrons and a fourth charged with threatening a woman.

(It appears that 2 are Muslim, one Sikh and one Anglo)

The four taxi drivers have been charged with various offences during the past week, including sexual penetration.

The allegations against the drivers have prompted police to concede there are some “cultural issues” within the taxi industry which need eradicating.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Hindriksen of the Police Sex Assault Squad said the majority of WA taxi drivers were doing a “great job” but that a small minority were bringing the industry into disrepute.

“Certainly there are some cultural issues within the industry,” Det Snr Sgt Hindriksen said.

“I guess the message to drivers is that we will investigate every allegation of criminal offences committed by taxi drivers.

“In most instances we’ve been dealing with in recent times the victims are female and in many cases they are alcohol affected.”

Det Snr Sgt Hindriksen said the Department of Transport and WA Police were working closely together on improving training and safety for drivers and passengers.

He advised young women to sit in the back of the cab if they were on their own and to take note of the taxi driver’s identification credentials.

The four drivers who have been charged have been banned from driving cabs until the allegations have been dealt with by the courts.

A 24-year-old Bentley man has been charged with indecent assault over in incident which occurred at around 2.50am on January 23 this year.

It will be alleged that the driver Adnan Arshad picked up a 19-year-old woman in Fremantle and while taking her to an address in Huntingdale touched her inappropriately.

Arshad has been charged with indecent assault and will appear before Armadale Magistrates Court on February 18.

A 41-year old Wembley driver, Shaun Kevin Wright, has been charged over an incident while on night shift from May 8, 2009 to May 9, 2009.

It is alleged that a woman passenger in his taxi fell asleep in the front seat of the vehicle, and while unconscious, Wright took photos up her skirt using his mobile phone.

An analysis of his computer by police revealed a number of similar images that he is alleged to have taken while driving his taxi between 2009 and 2011.

Wright has been charged with indecent acts in public and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on  February 15.

A 36-year-old driver from Thornlie, Prabhjit Singh Gill, has been charged with two counts of sexual penetration without consent after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 24-year-old woman on February 5 this year. (Singh must be a criminal Sikh, or perhaps a recent revert to Islam)

It will be alleged that Gill, who was a fellow taxi driver known by the girl’s driver, met the taxi at the corner of Farrington Road and Progress Street in North Lake at around 10.20pm and carried out the assault on the woman in the rear of her taxi.

Gill is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on March 8.

A 24-year-old  Bentley man Zaheer Abbas has been charged with threats to harm after he allegedly made threats to a female passenger in the early hours of February 7.

It will be alleged that the woman was taken to her home address in Daglish by the taxi driver, when a verbal altercation occurred between the two. Abbas then made threats against the woman has she entered her house, police claim.

  1. “The allegations against the drivers have prompted police to concede there are some “cultural issues” within the taxi industry which need eradicating.”

Well, even though we now know, thanks to this article, that Muslim taxi drivers sexually assaulting women fares is a “cultural issue,” notice the way the details of each crime implies that some blame belongs to the victims.

“A 24-year-old Bentley man has been charged with indecent assault over in incident which occurred at around 2.50am on January 23 this year.”

That’s what she gets for being out at 2.50am.

“It is alleged that a woman passenger in his taxi fell asleep in the front seat of the vehicle, and while unconscious, Wright took photos up her skirt using his mobile phone.”

As if sitting in the front seat of the taxi wasn’t bad enough, the ho’ then went to sleep, or, more likely passed out drunk, hence being “unconscious.” That’s what she gets.

“It will be alleged that Gill, who was a fellow taxi driver known by the girl’s driver, met the taxi at the corner of Farrington Road and Progress Street in North Lake at around 10.20pm and carried out the assault on the woman in the rear of her taxi.”

So much for the bit of advice about sitting in the back seat. And notice the writer called it “her taxi” instead of “his friend’s taxi” or “the other driver’s taxi.” It’s “her taxi,” making her somewhat accountable for the crime. That’s what she gets.

“It will be alleged that the woman was taken to her home address in Daglish by the taxi driver, when a verbal altercation occurred between the two. Abbas then made threats against the woman has she entered her house, police claim.”

How dare she argue with the taxi driver? Or…How dare she argue with a man? Or even…How dare she argue with a Muslim man? That’s what she gets.

For those who don’t know that sexual assault isn’t a “cultural issue,” I’ll share an example of one. Here in Texas there are many immigrants, legal and illegal, from Mexico. Mexican men and boys, when in groups (usually) without females, most always make total asses of themselves when a woman or women walk past or drive by them. Sure, no culture is without at least a few of these guys, but, apparently, watching women and loudly sharing their fu#$ability rating of them must be a huge part of male bonding in the Mexican culture. We’re talking about blinkless staring from the time she/they enter view until no longer visible, while rubbing their stomachs (0r worse!) and yelling “Hey, chickie mama!” or “Baby” or some other crap, sometimes in Spanish, along with catcalls, whistles and so on. While this can and does make most any woman feel uncomfortable, some women are justifiably terrified by it, feeling their safety threatened whenever groups of men stare, yell and make sexual gestures at them. That’s an example of a “cultural issue.” That behavior, while not criminal, isn’t appropriate here.

That’s my rant. I’m sure it’s plain that this news article really ticks me off, both its content and the writer’s spin. Thanks for letting me vent it here.

  2. When I order a taxi I always ask for an AUSTRALIAN driver, ( which means I don’t want muslim) I explain that I am (1) always driven the long way round, (2) overcharged, and (3) that I don’t feel safe.. But I am told I am not allowed to say I want a certain driver! well, as I”M the customer I should be able to choose! I now have a personal card of a couple of aussie cab drivers, who take me straight where I want to go, and I save $$$$ as well.. I’m fed up with PC!! I also know of quite a few young women who have been sexually touched or assaulted by muslim cabbies but are too afraid to tell! some now get their boyfriends to pick them up so they get home safely! Boycott all muslim taxi drivers..

  3. When ever I call for a taxi, I always tell them that I do not want a Indian or a Paki driver. They have wondering hands and think that any woman is fair game for them. They are mostly very dirty and smell like they have not had a shower for a very long time and also smell of curry. The Paki’s look the worst, with their hooked nose and eyes close together.
