Breaking: Geert Wilders acquitted on all counts

This should have never gone to trial anyhow. May our enemies ESAD!*

(*eat soup and diet, of course. What did you think?)

The Telegraph can’t stop the smears:

Geert Wilders, the Dutch far-right politician, has been acquitted of charges of hate speech and discrimination for statements he made attacking about Islam.

The Amsterdam court has announced the verdict in the Wilders trial. Geert Wilders has been acquitted on all counts (NL, short EN report here).

Pamela is following closely. Al-Jazeera is reporting here, the Jerusalem Post here (linked, because they were the first big international MSM sources). RNW encapsulates the entire year-and-a-half circus here.

(minor update: The BBC have finally recovered from the initial shock: Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders has been acquitted of all charges of inciting hatred against Muslims).

Wilders is a free man again. And because of this we all are (still) allowed to say what we think. This is a good day!

Here’s Andrew Bolt: Wilders acquitted

Andrew Bolt – Thursday, June 23, 11 (07:20 pm)

It’s a crime that the case even went to court, and much damage is already done:

Dutch politician  Geert Wilders has been acquitted by a court in Amsterdam where he was on trial for inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims.

Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party, has described Islam as a “fascist ideology”, comparing the Quran to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf. He was acquitted on all five charges that were pressed against him.

The judge on Thursday said that Wilders’ statements were “rude and condescending” but not a criminal offence according to Dutch law.

“The bench finds that your statements are acceptable within the context of the public debate,” the judge told Wilders, who has been on trial in the Amsterdam regional court since last October.

Wilders has said he has a “problem with Islamic tradition, culture, [and] ideology; not with Muslim people”.

The judge interpreted Wilders’ remarks as challenging Islam as an ideology, which is not a criminal offence in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands to Abandon Multiculturalism

About Time!

In any event, he was to be vindicated regardless of the show trial outcome, as Holland attempts to turn back from total islamization and social collapse:

[A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads: “The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.”] Read it all….

Here we go:

  1. Bloody brilliant news. Finally some common sense can be seen in an otherwise mad and dumb world.

Bravo Geert, this battle has been won but the war continues. I’m over the moon with joy for this brave man.

  2. The best possible outcome – will Geert be able to do a Carnita and sue his (genuine) oppressors?

  5. Great news ,,,,,,,,,,Geert Wilder ,,,,,,,,, I also admire him FREEDOM OF SPEECH …

Come Geert to the uk ,,,,,,,,,we need a brave man like you.

  6. Hearty congrats to Geert Wilders and his team but , I hesitate to celebrate as it appears the opposition hasn’t waisted any time making clear their intentions to continue harrassing him . . .Via Forbes:

” While even the public defender’s office has previously requested he be cleared of all charges, the plaintiffs in the case are now considering bringing the issue to the UN and European courts.

For anyone who believes in the sanctity of free expression, such an action suggests a true threat to democracy that must not be allowed. For the moment, however, the findings in the Wilders case are reassurance that the ideals of the Enlightenment and of all democratic people stand strong. “

Punting to the UN . . .it ain’t over till the fat lady sings.
