This all came about because of an accident. Sometimes, a jihadi’s last utterance is “Allahu akbar.” Sometimes, it’s “whoops!” An update on this story. “Police discover explosives, jihadist materials at school in Indonesia,” from CNN, July 14 (thanks to JW):

(CNN) — Authorities found weapons, explosives and jihadist materials at an Islamic school in central Indonesia after a three-day standoff, police said Thursday.

Police descended on the Umar bin Khatab Islamic boarding School, in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara province, on Monday after an explosion there killed one person.

Students at the school, armed with machetes and arrows, blocked police officers who had gone there to investigate the explosion. The standoff ended Wednesday night when police opened fire and entered the school.

One person was injured by a stray bullet, according Maj. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam with the National Police.

Seven people have been detained. The school’s owner escaped, he said.

After searching the location, police found nine Molotov bombs, explosive materials, several jihadist videos, arrows and other homemade weapons, Alam said.

Two assembled bombs were also found under a bridge near the school but a police bomb squad was able to defuse them, he said.

The man who died in Monday’s explosion was a member of the Jemaah Islamiyah terror network and trained as bombmaker in the Southern Philippines, according to local media reports. Police suspect he was showing students how to assemble a bomb that was going to be used in an attack on the police.

Police arrest head of Islamic school

POLICE say they have arrested the headmaster of an Islamic boarding school where a man died earlier this week, reportedly while trying to teach students how to make homemade bombs.

National Police spokesman Brig Gen Ketut Untung Yoga said yesterday that authorities believe the school – set up nearly a decade ago in Sumba island town of Bima – was actually a militant training camp.

He says explosives, dozens of machetes, air riffles, molotov cocktails and jihadi books and videos were found in the building.

Yoga said Abrori Ali, the headmaster, fled the scene after the explosion but was arrested on Friday in his parents’ house about 30km away.

Seven other people are in police custody for questioning.

  1. Funding it for sure, either via the Aussie government or else through buying Middle Eastern oil.

  2. Ahh its a madarassa/ terrorist training camp tied in to JAT according to AAP’s reporting, AKA old Bucky Bakasir the Indon vermin from Yemen outfit.
Looks like one is financed by western petrodollars to the Arabs, then via Islamic “charity” to “selected” moslems in Indon.

Update from Friday, Head arselifter arrested–

Maybe next week it will be one of Kevie and Juliar’s taxpayer funded maderassas!

  3. Indonesia: Dozens of bombs found in Islamic boarding school after three-day standoff and police raid

It was that last bomb that didn’t quite make the grade. An update on this story. “Dozens of Bombs Found in Indonesian Boarding School,” from Agence France-Presse, July 19 (thanks toJW):

Police found more than two dozen home-made bombs in eastern Indonesia following an explosion last week inside an Islamic boarding school suspected of being a bomb factory, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

After the blast that killed a suspected terrorist, police raided the Umar bin Khatab school in West Nusa Tenggara province and ended a three-day standoff on Wednesday with students and teachers armed with swords, machetes and sticks.
Police later found the home-made bombs, but did not say exactly when.

“The 26 pipe bombs were defused,” national police spokesman Anton Bachrul Alam told reporters. “They planned to use the bombs to attack police stations.”

Police said that the school was linked to radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, who was jailed for 15 years last month for funding a terrorist group that was planning attacks against Westerners and political leaders.

Most of Indonesia’s 200 million Muslims are moderates, but the country has struggled to deal with a radical fringe of extremists who have carried out numerous attacks including the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people.

I bet they’ve got more stashed for Ramavan celebrations.
