Stop Dreaming, Aussie: Buy Chocolate!

I’m sorry, but the fascist analogy must now be drawn

I never dreamed I’d live in a country in which Jewish businesses were boycotted and blockaded.

The shame. The utter shame.

But then I’d never dreamed, either, that I’d be taken to court for expressing my opinion. Or that a news organisation would be denied a government contact for being political unsympathetic. Or that news outlets would be banned by government ministers for asking basic questions. Or that academics could protest against free speech. (Andrew Bolt)

Sir Edmund Barton’s ideas on Immigrants and being an Australian in 1907.

‘In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an Australian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an Australian, and nothing but an Australian.. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an Australian, but something else also, isn’t an Australian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Australian flag…. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the Australian people.’

  1. It’s all the Jews’ Fault.

A disturbing letter appears in today’s SMH:

    Think again

The wise and timely essay by Samantha Selinger-Morris (’’Old hatreds in a new medium’’, July 2-3) raises an issue that should make Jewish community leaders in Australia rethink their attitudes to the growth of anti-Semitism.

Tragically this upsurge of racism is attributable directly to the perceived suffering the Israeli government has imposed on the Palestinian people. The current Israeli government is more responsible for the spread of anti-Semitism worldwide than any ratbag racist groups waving symbols of Germany in the 1930s.

To Jewish leaders in Australia, Israel can do no wrong. They have closed minds to the damage being done to the image of Jews internationally by the intransigent attitude of Netanyahu and his extremist supporters.

Intellectuals, including many more thoughtful and perceptive Jews, realise this dilemma. They should be listened to rather than dismissed as anti-Semitic.

    Vincent Matthews Forestville

Get that? The Government of Israel is doing more for Jew-hatred than the Nazis. Yes, the SMH actually printed that.

  2. Sheik, that is awesome. Thank you posting that piece from Sir Edward Barton.

If only he could see his beloved country today 🙁 . It breaks my heart as well.

  3. Brilliant quote from Sir Edmund Barton. But I won’t hold my breath that sense will come to this wide brown land. It also never ceases to amaze me how al things that go wrong are attributable to the Jews. I guess people must have someone to blame, rather than themselves.

  4. This part of the quote certainly wasn’t lived up to during the years of the 20th Century:

“….he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin”.

Now, can everyone read this over a few times, and move on. I’ts unfortunate that some people feel that some people from one religion or another was cruel to them in 1973 in another continent before they came to Australia.

But we are all in Australia now. Just get used to living with the people you hate.

    1. ” Just get used to living with the people you hate.”

Selective reading? Or perhaps you are unable to read properly. First of all, its them (Muslims) who hate us, the unbeliever.

      Second:

“we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an Australian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else”

I spell it out for you: only if you assimilate, if you become Australian, shall you be treated equally, like one of us.

Reminder: Muslims don’t come to Australia to become Australians, Muslims arrive here to make Australia Islamic.

      Finally:

But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an Australian, and nothing but an Australian.. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an Australian, but something else also, isn’t an Australian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Australian flag…. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the Australian people.’

I second that. Muslims are not, and never will be, Australians.

      Off you go!

  5. GEE!!!!!! wish I’d been there to protest with my Pro-Israel flag!! and I would have countered their chant “This is not a police state, we have the right to demonstrate… With my own chant “This is not a CALIPHATE , the world must fight Islamic hate ” that would be my mantra…I see the Palestinian arabs have their useful idiots along with them… how shameful to bring their crap into Australia!!
