Secret Foreign Campaign To Suppress Free Speech In Australia Exposed

promoting international peace, security, economic development and addressing what it terms “Islamophobia.”

How would you feel if I told you a radical George Soros funded foreign lobby group is secretly launching a campaign to stifle free speech and silence climate realists in Australia?
You would probably think I’m a conspiracy nut – this couldn’t happen, I must be mad!
Except that is what is going on right now. Leaked emails from  Avaaz, an unethical “shadowy foreign organisation” funded by radical leftist mogul George Soros, and one of the big-money donors to Climate Alarmism in Australia, have revealed a large-scale, co-ordinated international effort to threaten businesses, and lobby the government to impose ideological censorship tests on the media.
Some backgroud: you may have read recently that Gina Rinehart, a staunch small-government conservative and advocate of lower taxes and climate realism recently acquired apx 13% of Fairfax Media (owners of the left wing climate-alarmist Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and other publications).
This would not normally make news – a business person buying shares in a company is hardly noteworthy. And Ms. Rinehart has specifically stated – on the record – that this is simply a business investment, and her beliefs will not affect their operation.
But I have just learned that because of Gina Rinehart’s beliefs, an underhand,  international, coordinated campaign by left wing extremists has just been launched to assault freedom of speech, calling on the government to change the law to stop her from getting the seat on the Fairfax Board to which she is entitled, and trying to intimidate and threaten the Fairfax Chairman into vetoing her.
Avaaz is a million dollar international radical left-wing activist group, and they are ‘partners’ in Australia with GetUp! Together they have just launched a full scale campaign to attack Ms Rinehart and intimidate the Fairfax Chairman to prevent her from joining the Board. But this is just the first stage in their plan. If they are successful, they specifically have said that they call on the government to impose an ideological test on the media in Australia. You read that right: they want an the government to censor all media they disagree with.
This is a campaign that should strike terror into the hearts of all of us who believe in free speech, a free media, and the Australian way. If they get their way, none of us are safe.
This is their plan to censor free speech – in their own words:
Mining magnate Gina Rinehart has just bought a major stake in Fairfax media — in a bid that could turn The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald into mouthpieces for climate denial to protect her mining interests. But together we can foil her plan…
The media inquiry that Avaaz members helped win is just weeks away from reporting, and provides the government with the crucial chance to act. Communications Minister Stephen Conroy is supportive of stronger ownership limits — but he needs a community outcry to get the whole government on board…Â
We desperately need stronger ownership limits, a ‘fit and proper person’ test for use of public airwaves, and a strong and independent media regulator.
That’s right: they are blatantly and unashamedly calling on the Government to impose a “fit and proper” – ie leftist ideological – censorship test on the media.  Even though Ms. Rinehart has pledged to not let her views influence editorial policy. The fact that she is a climate skeptic, and believer in small government,  means that she must be stopped and her rights curtailed.
GetUp! followed up with an email to their members saying this is “bad news for the issues we care about” urging them to take action to silence free speech by those they oppose.
I can not stress this enough: this attack on free speech is incredibly serious, and  goes against everything we believe in as Australians.
I will be honest. I don’t know Gina Rinehart. I have never met her, I have never spoken to her, I have never emailed her. I honestly don’t know much about her. But one thing I do know: that Australia needs a free and fair media, and if the radical left want to use the government to suppress free speech and blackball Ms Rinehart because she supports Andrew Bolt, then we need to do something about it. Because first it’s Gina, and then it’s Andrew Bolt, and then it’s anyone else who doesn’t tow the government line.
This is a co-ordinated campaign by radical left alarmists who are running scared that the Australian people have woken up to their game , and are getting so desperate they are now trying to use the government to suppress anyone who disagrees with them.
We need to take action now to nip this campaign in the bud.
So what to do?
There are two actions you can immediately take which will only take a couple of minutes, but will make a BIG difference.
1)  We need to let Fairfax Chairman Roger Corbett know that he CAN NOT give in to extremists, and can not veto Ms. Rinehart from the board because of radical left wing pressure. Can you please immediately email Fairfax Chairman Roger Corbatt on  email@example.com and phone his office on  (02) 9282 2833 to tell him to resist left-wing threats and blackmail, and not veto Ms. Rinehart from the position to which she is entitled.
2)We have prepared a petition we will present in support of free speech and a free media. PLEASE Sign our petition by clicking here (if nothing happens when you click on the link, try scrolling up)
Make No Mistake: If we let them get away with censoring Gina Rinehart – then everyone who opposes their radical agenda is in danger. And we will have no way to get the truth out to the Australian people.
Please, take the five minutes to email Fairfax Chairman Roger Corbatt on  firstname.lastname@example.org and phone him through  (02) 9282 2833 and tell him to NOT GIVE IN to million dollar left wing intimidation.
This is a battle we can not afford to lose. If Ms. Rinehart is vetoed from her rightful Board position because of her climate realism, then allAustralians will suffer.
Please take action now.

More on Islamophobia & Ihsanoglu
Ihsanoglu to discuss a strategy to combat Islamophobia in Geneva in March …
February 7, 2012
Mr. Rizwan also noted that the OIC Secretary General, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, will take part in the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council expected to be held in March, pointing out that the Secretary General will discuss an international strategy of how to combat Islamophobia in order to implement resolution 16/18 which calls for the protection of the followers of different religions from hate campaigns, a move that will support the OIC’s efforts to combat the growing phenomenon of Islamophobia in many European countries.
OIC/Australia: Ihsanoglu seeks to establish new international relations in his official visit to Canberra
February 7, 2012
JEDDAH,15 Rabi al-Awwal/7 Feb.(IINA)-The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will lead a high level delegation in his official visit to Australia starting next Sunday, 11 February 2012. Ihsanoglu is set to visit a number of cities where he will meet with the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP, with whom he will discuss bilateral relations and ways of enhancing cooperation between the OIC Member States and Australia through the OIC and will sign a memorandum of cooperation between the OIC with Australia.
The sources added that the OIC accords special importance to forming now relations of great impact that contribute to international efforts of the OIC in various fields, especially those related to its activities at the United Nations or the UN Human Rights Council as well as on the issue of Islamophobia, indicating that the Secretary General’s visit to China in summer of 2010 confirmed the OIC’s concern to fostering constructive political relations with effective actors in the world.
The sources also pointed out that the OIC Secretary General will focus in his tour in Australia, which will include Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne, on the phenomenon of Islamophobia, in light of the existence of about half a million Muslims in this country who come from two hundred backgrounds and cultures.
At the beginning of his tour, Ihsanoglu is expected to meet with the President of the Islamic Council in Sydney, Mr. Khalid Shukri and a number of leaders of interfaith dialogue in Sydney, in addition to convening a separate meeting with the Supreme Mufti of Australia, Dr. Ibrahim Abu Mohammed.
The Secretary General will also meet with officials of the Ministry of Multi-Cultural Affairs, Queensland Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, in addition to a visit to the Islamic Museum.

The OSCE: Yet Another Avenue for Islamists to Control Speech
Although more attention goes to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation‘s (OIC) prominent attempts to police speech in Western nations regarding Islam-related topics through the UN and the “Istanbul Process“, Muslim and Islamist desires to restrict critical speech concerning Islam-related topics and promote a positive image of their religion have also played a role in yet another international organization’s efforts to address the debate about Islam and Muslims. On October 28, 2011, a conference, titled: “Confronting Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims in Public Discourse,” was held at the Vienna headquarters of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE is an international grouping encompassing 56 states from North America (Canada and the United States), Europe, and the former Soviet Union. At this conference the Danish-Pakistani general-secretary of the Initiative of European Muslims for Social Cohesion (Die Initiative Europäischer Muslime für Sozialen Zusammenhalt or IEMSZ), Bashy Quraishi, called for “guidelines against Islamophobia in public discourse” and stated that “freedom of speech in Europe entails responsibility, something often forgotten by political leaders and journalists.” Also, General Quraishi as well as numerous other participants at the conference extolled the civilizational contributions of Islam – and Muslims – to humanity. Perhaps not too surprisingly in this politically correct world, in the end the OSCE seemingly acceded to Quraishi’s desire to protect Muslims from insulting speech and promote a positive view of Islam.
This fact is clearly visible in the resulting OSCE booklet titled - Guidelines for Educators on Countering Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims: Addressing Islamophobia through Education (available online in PDF format). The OSCE’s booklet focuses heavily on fighting “Islamophobia,” a problem that even some surprising figures find clearly exaggerated. It claims that the “media” and “some political discourse” has “contributed” to a belief that Muslims are “extremists who threaten the security and well-being of others” and has resulted in a “range of discrimination.” The booklet also contains many politically correct, and sometimes undocumented, statements. In countering “recurring stereotypes in public discourse about Muslims” such as “their religion advocates violence” or their being “irrational and violent” and a “security threat,” the guidelines recommended a variety of “educational responses.” The booklet asserts that there is “much diversity within Islam” and that Muslims have a “great deal in common” with “people with different religious or cultural backgrounds.” It also says that “various religious or cultural communities, including Muslims, Christians, Jews and others, can and do have positive impacts on each other, and frequently work and live together in close co-operation and partnership.” Finally, it singles out “Islamic cultures and civilizations” for their oft-claimed, yet disputed, “substantial contributions over the centuries to science and technology, the arts and architecture, and law, ethics and philosophy.” Meanwhile, the booklet ignores, aside from general references to “radicalism and extremism,” the more unsavory issues of Islamist terrorist violence in its various forms and the imposition of radical Islamic norms, such as sharia, making many headlines today in reference to Islam.
Revealingly, the booklet references the OIC, in the section “Resources and Information Tools,” as just one institution among others concerned with human rights and freedom of speech. As followers of the LP know, the 57-member state (including, somewhat dubiously, Palestine) OIC has pursued a longstanding international agenda of attempting to legally curb criticism of Islam in general and Islamist groups in particular under the guises of “religious defamation” and “Islamophobia.” Further, the OIC contains no developed democracies with protections for human rights and free speech among its member states. Tellingly, OIC-headquarters host Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy that bans the proselytization and practice of non-Islamic faiths as well as “blasphemous” remarks against Islam or the Saudi monarchy, punishes homosexuals with death, and prevents women from voting or driving cars. (For specific examples of OIC member nations’ poor records of respecting human rights, please peruse the reports of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.) To place the OIC on an equal footing with international institutions committed to equality of all before the law is ridiculous, if not perverse.
But don’t worry – there is no need to be concerned about the biased guidelines produced at the OSCE conference. So says Quraishy, who asserts that no Muslims seek a “special status.” Followers of the Legal Project might very well be skeptical of his protestations. The one-sided content of the OSCE guidelines and its inclusion of the OIC as a “resource” indicate that this is yet another way for Islamists to advance under the guise of victimization an authoritarian agenda to place Islamic beliefs above reproach in the free market of ideas. The end result of this agenda would be a diminishment of human rights such as freedom of speech and religion
