US soldier kills Afghan "civilians" in Kandahar

Update:

Conflicting reports. Seems to be much blather and unsubstantiated accusations. In fact little can be confirmed of what was reported earlier:

Yowza, yowza, yowza: Let’s see the Obamster apologize for that!

Update:

Here it comes: WASHINGTON (AP) — Obama calls Afghan shooting ‘tragic and shocking,’ offers condolences and vows accountability

LA Times/KABUL, Afghanistan — A U.S. soldier went on a shooting rampage outside Kandahar city early Sunday, killing up to 18 civilians, Afghan officials said, in yet another devastating blow to Americans’ battered image in the country after 10 years of warfare.

“America’s battered image?”  Isn’t it time to take a long hard look at the barbarians we’re dealing with?

A US soldier in Afghanistan has killed 10 civilians and wounded five in Kandahar province after suffering a breakdown, officials say.

He left his military base in the early hours of the morning and opened fire after entering local homes; women and children are said to be among the dead.

Nato said it was investigating the “deeply regrettable incident”.

Anti-US sentiment is already high in Afghanistan after US soldiers burnt copies of the Koran last month.

US officials have apologised repeatedly for the incident at a Nato base in Kabul, but they failed to quell a series of protests and attacks that killed at least 30 people and six US troops.

Local people have reportedly gathered near the base in Panjwai district to protest about Sunday’s killings, and the US embassy is advising against travel to the area.

Investigation

The soldier, who has not been named, is said to have suffered a nervous breakdown.

He walked off his base at around 03:00 local time (22:30 GMT Saturday).

According to a resident quoted by Associated Press, he opened fire in three separate houses in the village of Alkozai.

“I heard gunshots and then silence and then gunshots again,” Abdul Baqi said.

Local tribal leaders said women and children were among the dead.

A delegation from the provincial governor’s office has arrived in the village to determine what has happened, a spokesman said.

After carrying out the killings, the soldier reportedly handed himself over to the US military authorities.

The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) said in a statement that US officials in Afghanistan would work with their Afghan counterparts to investigate what happened.

“This is a deeply regrettable incident and we extend our thoughts and concerns to the families involved,” Isaf added.

Meanwhile, in Kabul, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said his government still expects to sign a strategic partnership with the United States in the next couple of months.

In a televised speech, he said discussions would continue on the precise role the US will play in Afghanistan after Nato hands over security responsibility to Kabul at the end of 2014.

On Friday, Kabul and Washington reached a deal to transfer US-run prisons in the country to Afghan control.

  1. Bravo, bravissimo good and brave soldier!!! What a pity you didn’t target some imams and blow up some mosques instead of innocuous civilians, but every Muslim is infected with the poison of Islam and all of them, like tse tse flies or deadly viruses must be wiped out, and then everything fumigated to get rid of the leftover bacteria This guy should be given a medal for valor above and beyond the call of duty.and the stench.

  2. What goes around, comes around. This soldier just demonstrated that
“What is good for the Goos, is good for the Gander”.
Now, he, is a real american hero. That is my opinion!

  3. hold off . . .MSM narrative shifts to multiple soldiers in multiple attacks:

(Reuters) – Western forces shot dead 16 civilians including nine children in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, Afghan officials said, in a rampage that witnesses said was carried out by American soldiers who were laughing and appeared drunk.
One Afghan father who said his children were killed in the shooting spree accused soldiers of later burning the bodies.

Witnesses told Reuters they saw a group of U.S. soldiers arrive at their village in Kandahar’s Panjwayi district at around 2 am, enter homes and open fire.

The incident, one of the worst of its kind since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, is likely to deepen the divide between Washington and Kabul.

Why draw hysteria on this event, with intial reports focusing on one soldier, then sowing confusion with updates involving more soldiers,. . . yet, no hysteria regarding:

Suicide attack at funeral kills at least 14 in Pakistan

  4. if he killed women and children, then he just saved the local savages the trouble of mutilating and raping the children, and honor killing the women. They should be thanking him.

  5. I have the same question as Rossco. Why don’t we hear more about all the Islamaniac violence against Israel???Why don’t we hear more about the violence against non-muslim religious groups in every Islamic country? Why does our so-called president always warn Israel not to defend itself by violence, when violence is the only language those Muslim fanatics understand?
But the biggest question of all: why will the Amerigoons vote that shithead in for another 4 years???

  6. As a christian and a Human Being I am sad to hear about such atrocities. There are many ignorant and hateful people on this blog commenting in a negative way and lack depth and compassion that most all religions testify to. I pray that the people educate them selves in compassion and civility and not fall prey to greedy manipulative games that a FEW powerful and rich men play. I myself refuse to be a pawn to the oil barrons and money masters of the the world. They may try through artfull manipulation try to divide and enslave us. To create false enemies and false flag operations. The aim of the rich is always the same..Keep the poor a surf like culture- enslaved in debt, prejudice, war and fear..

  8. William,
We have an aggressive and violent philosophy being forced down our throats, its adherents lie, steal and comment extreme violence to get their way. They contribute nothing of value, and they have made a significant mess of their own countries. There is nothing racist about calling islam for what it is!!! And your understanding of the world political system is rather inadequate. Most religions testify to something positive, islam does not (unless blind acceptance of the ramblings of a 7th century rapist, murderer and war leader is something you would like to do). While there maybe hateful people commenting here, most are not, but sadly it seems that you have missed much and understood little.

  9. Given that korans (old) are burnt on a regular basis, could william explain to us why it is okay for muslims to riot and murder when others burn them for security reasons, or why it is okay for muslims to murder cartoonists and movie makers who comment on islam adversely. Got a comment william?
