Halal Easter Eggs?

It’s okay to participate in the traditions of the kuffar if you keep hate in your heart for them.

This fartwa demonstrates the contempt in which we are held as ignorant savages about the true nature of islam.

After all, muslims are not allowed to participate in the traditions of the kuffar lest they become like us.

Ask Imam is one of my favourite sites – if you’ve not come across Mufti Ibrahim Desai, then bookmark this one and when you have some spare time, browse through his Q&As.

Asalaam’u'a’laikum. Imam, what are views about eating “Hot Cross Buns”. There were some rumours about the “cross” having some Christian significance are we supposed to abstain from eating them?

Kindly refer below our standard reply to similar queries.

Q: Is it permissible to purchase, sell and/or consume easter eggs and
bunnies?
A: According to the Encylopaedia Britannica, the easter egg along with the
easter bunny are popular customs reflecting many ancient pagan survivals.
(britannica.com). Apart from this, the egg and the Easter lamb have deep
significance in the Christian faith. (Holy Cross Catholic Church;
britannica.com).
It is not permissible to purchase, sell and/or consume Easter eggs and
bunnies. The proceeds from the sales of easter eggs and bunnies will be
Haraam. The same ruling applies for Hot Cross Buns.

I know that it is not allowed to celebrate occasions like Valentine?s day, Halloween, Easter, Christmas, etc. But here in USA when these occasions are near, they have sales in stores…

But here in USA when these occasions are near, they have sales in stores. Most of the times it is candies that have their symbols or names on them. E.g. when Valentine?s Day comes, they sell candies that says happy valentine. They are specially packed for that, because regularly these candy wrappers wouldn?t say these things. Also in stores, they put sales to attract customers by saying Halloween Special sale, Valentines Day Special sale, etc, etc. When they are on sale they are cheaper. So my question is can we buy these things just to eat because they are cheaper. And can we shop at the stores when these types of sales are on. Obviously there is no intention of celabrating that particular event. The only reason for buying those products or shopping at the stores at that time is because things are a great deal cheaper. Would it still be gunnah if we buy these things?

The sales of Halaal items during valentine, Easter, etc. with symbols of that occasion should not be viewed independently. It is not just a matter of the item itself being Halaal or not.

The underlying ideology of that occasion which is being promoted through the sales of sweets, candys, etc. should be considered. That is evident from the wrappings of such items which have symbols of that occasion. It is clear that the occasion of Valentines, Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc. have no basis in Islam. To purchase items having symbols of such occasions will be assisting in promoting ideologies that are not acceptable in Shari?ah.

I don’t have the link to the muslimvillage thread bookmarked on this computer and the other one’s not set up, but over there the debate has raged in years gone by about celebrating christmas also. The bottom line there was that if muslims wish to participate in gift-giving at christmastime then they should do it only because they want to give the gift and not because it’s christmas.

They twist themselves into illogical loops to justify being a part of our traditions and then make up all sorts of excuses for doing do when caught out.

As for halal easter eggs? That would (in my view) be a case of a company paying for the use of the logo. If they’ve paid for it they’re going to darn well use it.

Oh, and remember, it’s okay to participate in the traditions of the kuffar if you keep hate in your heart for them.

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?
