Muslim Congressman Andre Carson: “9/11 was tough on Muslims”

9/11 was tough on Muslims?

In a speech to the Icna Mosque in Hartford, Connecticut, last month, Congressman Andre Carson (D-IN), one of two Muslims serving in congress, empathized with fellow followers of Islam over how difficult life was for them after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11th, 2001.  The congressman cited racism and Muslims losing their jobs as a direct result of how “tough” life was after the terror attacks.

“It is very true that all of us are under tremendous strain right now -- 9/11 was tough on Muslims.  Those of us who were in the workplace faced exacerbated prejudice, unrelenting bias, and in many cases, some of us were terminated from our jobs.  It was tough to be a Muslim in the workplace.”

Muslim U.S. Congressman Laments: ‘9-11 Was Tough On Muslims,‘ Islam In America Is ’Under Attack, But Must Not Retreat’

The congressman followed up the statement, noting that America’s 11-year “War on Terror” will never be won unless the country receives assistance from followers of Islam.

“America will never win the war against terrorism without help from the Muslim community.”

Carson continued, claiming that the over seven million Muslims who live in America were “under attack”.  He cited that followers of Islam “must not retreat,“ noting that Muslims ”have been apart of America since the inception of America.”

Carson then called out people in the audience who might be “under-cover.”  The inference was that there were subversives in the audience, set on exposing that the congregation was having secret meetings with the intentions to cause harm to America.

“Now, it is unfortunate that there are those who are thinking that at this convention right now were having secret meetings, that were plotting to destroy this country, but I say to those who are here under-cover, Allah will not allow you to stop us.”

The comments received multiple rounds of applause.

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?

Still pushing Muslims are victims narrative, I see.

I am going to wager that 9/11 was a lot “tougher” on the 3,000 families that lost loved ones in the tower then a imagined backlash that never happened.

Funny. I don’t remember how many times I have read articles in which Muslims (especially women) say that 9/11 was a great “opportunity” for them to “explain” their religion to non-Muslims. In other words, a terrorist attack is an opportunity for da’wa (how the “moderates” and “extremists” work together). The crassness never ceases to amaze me. They don’t even have to choose whether 9/11 was an opportunity or the beginning of an “oppressive” period: our stupid society accepts both simultaneously.
