Merkel on Wild Goose Chase in Indonesia, Visits Mosque

Any chance that she will drag Yudhiyono into Colognes great cathedral when he visits Germany?

Chancellor Angela Merkel has arrived in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. In the morning she will be lecturing President Yudhoyono on climate change and deforestation in Indonesia. Germany is trying to prevent  Indonesia from destroying its rain-forests by “conditional aid”  (jiziya)   to help Indonesia’s vast forests remain intact  as the world’s lungs…

Unfortunately, Indonesia doesn’t quite see it that way:

“With the German chancellor, we aim to boost cooperation in five main sectors, namely trade and investment, technology, education, healthcare and science and research,” Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said on Monday.

No mention about rain forests here, but requests (demands?) for Leopard tanks and more moolah…

dpa and Reuters. [more from PI, in German]

Cognitive dissonance.

“With the German chancellor, we aim to boost cooperation in five main sectors, namely trade and investment, technology, education, healthcare and science and research,” Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said on Monday.

Translation:

  • Trade & investment means: you import Islam and pay us for it because its such a great blessing;
  • Technology means military hardware;
  • Healthcare means free medicine for Muslims,
  • Education means money for Koran schools, (madrases)
  • Science means transfer of infidel technology to Muslims; research means giving up state secrets to allow muslims to migrate to the west.

  1. There seems, however, to be a tiny little light at the end of the tunnel:

    Angela Merkel does not seem to wear a towel on her head, unlike Hillarious Clinton and the first wife of Obama when they visit places of the new ordere.
