Got to where the action is: exiting Syria!
Your chance to join al Qaeda!
(Join McRHINO against the Christians, of course! Thank heavens jihad means peaceful inner struggle….)
Evidence is mounting that Syria has become a magnet for Sunni extremists, including those operating under the banner of Al Qaeda. An important border crossing with Turkey that fell into Syrian rebels’ hands last week, Bab al-Hawa, has quickly become a jihadist congregating point.
The presence of jihadists in Syria has accelerated in recent days in part because of a convergence with the sectarian tensions across the country’s long border in Iraq. Al Qaeda, through an audio statement, has just made an undisguised bid to link its insurgency in Iraq with the revolution in Syria, depicting both as sectarian conflicts — Sunnis versus Shiites.
And make no mistake — that jihad is coming. But even then the learned analysts who assured us in January 2011 that the “Arab Spring” was a flowering of democracy and pluralism will neither admit their mistake nor be called to account.

Rapidly Islamizing Turkey is clearly itching for jihad war against Israel, something that would have been unthinkable just three years ago. And of course, in any sane age the prospect of a jihad mass murderer who glories in the killing of civilians meeting with a head of state, any head of state, as if he were a respectable individual, would have been likewise unthinkable. “Turkish PM, Hamas leader meet,” from Associated Press, July 25 (thanks to JW)
Anywhere Muslims and non-Muslims live in close proximity with one another, there are “clashes.” “Assam, India: Bodo tribe, Muslim clashes kill at least 35, displace 170,000,” by Kristin Deasy for the Global Post, July 25
Just in case you thought the old one wasn’t bloody enough, Ramadan, the month of renewed Islamic piety, is going to bring more. “Al Qaeda announces ‘start of a new stage of jihad’ in Iraq,” from the Buenos Aires Herald, July 25:
Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Iraq has claimed responsibility for scores of attacks across the country against mostly Shi’ite Muslim targets this week which killed and wounded hundreds of people.
Ramadan is bringing its share of tensions and incidents in the streets of Brussels. It has only been six days since the month characterised by the Muslim fast has begun. However, the local police in Moelenbeek has already received threats in relation to this period – indirect, it is true – of attacks against public buildings. “These threats involved the possibility of grenades being launched at a police station in Moelenbeek or any other public building such as the town hall or community centre.”
