STOCKHOLM — Swedish activists clashed with police amid a hail of bottles and fireworks in downtown Stockholm on Saturday as they tried to break through a police line and attack an anti-Islam demonstration.

Police spokesman Kjell Lendgren said around 400 leftists had gathered to heckle the 100-strong demonstration, which was rallying to bring attention to what it perceives is the Islamization of Europe.

He said the leftists shouted and blew vuvuzelas to drown out anti-Islam and nationalist speeches, but then started throwing bottles and lit fireworks at police, injuring two officers.

Lendgren said ten activists were arrested, after which the situation calmed down.

Both the anti-Islam meeting and leftist protest continued peacefully and were scheduled to end at 1600 local (1400GMT).

Nationalist groups such as the English Defence League were instrumental in organizing the anti-Islam event, which was described on the anti-Islam European Freedom Initiative’s website as the “first worldwide counter-jihad action.”

In the counter protest, local activists called for tolerance and warned of a rise in fascism. They referred to the nationalist groups as “Breivik’s foot-soldiers” – a reference to Norwegian ultra-nationalist Anders Breivik who killed 77 people in Norway last year.

But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it. If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. One begins to think the effort to keep participating numbers down also makes it far more convenient to photograph and later identify those who dare defy statist narrative to attend these counter-jihad/counter-shariah demos. Simply consider the efforts this week at the Olympics with the bruhaha around Germany’s Olympic rower Nadja Drygalla & Greek Olympic jumper,Paraskevi Papahristou. Thought crimes kept Nadja from graduating the police academy as well.

One of the tactics that I have been aware for a while is the MSM or smaller journalist who push a left agenda, will look for the emptiest section in a otherwise packed lecture,demo, etc. and photograph that spot to down play the real numbers and vice versa to imply that support of left ideology was bigger/stronger then it really was.
Sarastro August 5, 2012 at 3:19 pm: I am a member of EDL and have marched in their rallies in England. What is so puzzling to me is how can any being who calls himself human not want to be free? Muslims in London walk around carrying signs saying “Freedom go to Hell” and Democracy is Terrorism”. This must be because any Muslim is actually a slave, they like being slaves, they have a slave mentality. Islam means submission, they pray like slaves, they don’t want to have a personal opinion about anything, they just “believe” like brain-washed robots.
Islam’s worst victims are Muslims. I pray we can avoid their fate, and find a way to open their eyes and hearts and wean them away from this evil scourge.

last year when I went to Berlin with Geert Wilders, Rene’Stadtkewitz & Oscar Freysinger it was clearly so that the journaille was screened earlier, came in and took photos of the room (which was still quite empty) and that’s what they printed in their papers.

In reality the room was booked out to the last seat, close to 1000 and many had to be turned away, which was of course never reported.

Unfortunately, when we went to NYC right after Bloomberg cordoned the whole area off and let no one in, so instead of getting 30.000 supporters we had only 2-3000.

Shameless and dastardly. I suspect it will be the same this year.
