Crucifixion in Yemen

Man Crucified By Muslim Group For Allegedly Directing U.S. Drones In Yemen – Video Posted On YouTube – Warning: Graphic Images  (Pamela Geller)

From BCF: MEMRI’s Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM)

On August 27, 2012, a member of the leading jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam posted a YouTube link to a video showing a man accused of spying for the U.S. by placing chips to direct drones targeting terrorists being crucified on an electric pylon in Abyan province in south of Yemen. A sign placed above the man’s head shows the group’s flag and verse 5:33 of the Koran, which reads:

005.033 The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and create mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter….

“The punishment for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive after corruption, making mischief in the land [those who refuse to surrender to Islam] is murder, execution, crucifixion, the cutting off of hands and feet on opposite sides, or they should be imprisoned. That is their degradation and disgrace in this world. And a great torment of an awful doom awaits them in the hereafter. Except for those who repent (and become Muslims) before you overpower them and they fall into your control.”  — Qur’an:5:33
