Mustard Mockery

Ayaan Hirsi Ali on the weakness of the West’s response to Muslim attacks on our free speech:

It was Voltaire who once said: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” As Salman Rushdie discovered, as we are reminded again as the Arab street burns, that sentiment is seldom heard in our time.

It remains astonishing to me that so few Leftist intellectuals have been revolted by terrorism waged against filmmakers and writers critical of Islam. Hirsi Ali describes her life as a critic of the faith in which she was raised: Letting Koranimals dictate what we may say

The response of so many other writers, artists and even politicians has been not to show solidarity but to self-censor. So lightly is free speech now defended.

Astonishingly, a donkey of an LA Times writer no sooner reads Hirsi Ali than attacks her piece and the Newsweek cover story in exactly the terms she rightly condemns. How dare she and the magazine provoke extremists who threaten death to the blasphemers:

Shush:  write and show nothing that may get the attention of people who might burn down your house.

Now, let’s rework that Newsweek cover to satisfy the donkey’s bray. Main headline, over a picture of a girl offering a flower: “Muslim victims ask sweetly for apology.” Headline to Hirsi Ali piece: “It’s all my own fault that decent people want to kill me.”

Once again, the Brits lead EUrabia in dhimmitude:

Sick and despicable Oz-Greens  blather about “being responsible”

More attacks on free speech at Bigpond News/via Mullah:

There are fears of a fresh Muslim backlash after a French magazine published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed naked.

That’s a sentiment echoed by Australian Greens leader Christine Milne, who called the magazine’s move ‘highly irresponsible’.

Take a magic carpet ride, Christine!  Saddle your camel and piss off to the ME, and take your ‘responsibility’ with you!

Meanwhile, another “down, down, Israel” protest at Max Brenner in Parramatta on Thursday night (with greens and their BDS friends?)
