Bachir Arja, known as Barry, died in a targeted attack outside his home in Owen Street, about 11.15pm.
Paramedics arrived to find relatives of the 28-year-old, who had recently become engaged, desperately trying to save his life.
Mr Arja is believed to have been shot in the head and died at the scene. He was related to the wife of Ali Eid, a man who was fatally shot just a kilometre away three weeks ago.
A friend of Mr Arja told Fairfax Media the victim had been at home, where he lived with his widow mother, Maleka Arja, when he received a telephone call to come outside.
