Mehdi Hasan to prof Dawkins: suicide bombers blow themselves up for land, not religion

Millions of successful ‘martyrs’ would beg to differ.

Mehdi Hassan claims non-Muslims are ‘kuffar’ and atheists (like Dawkins) are like cattle. He also believes that Muhammad went to heaven on a steel buraq, powered by a flying donkey with a human head.

Richard Dawkins is a deeply conflicted man who directs his hatred against Christianity, namely Catholizism,. That’s what he knows, that’s what he loves to hate. He really needs to study up on Islam. (During question time he fails totally to rebuke a Muslim claim on Koran verse 5:32, which is done to death by Islamo-props. Below the fold the verse is explained in its proper context)

Fanaticism, fundamentalism, superstition and ignorance. Religion is getting a bad press these days. Much of the conflict in the world, from the Middle East to Nigeria and Myanmar, is often blamed on religion. (Not religion: Islam!)

But what are the alternatives? Adolf Hitler was an atheist. Communism under Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot or Mao Zedong banned religion, but also massacred millions. And science brought incredible and amazing advances, but also pollution and the atomic bomb.

A critic of religious dogmatism, Professor Richard Dawkins revolutionised genetics in 1976 with the publication of The Selfish Gene, which explained how evolution takes place at the genetic level. He has since written 12 more bestsellers, including The God Delusion which sold millions of copies, was translated into more than 30 languages, and catapulted him to the position of the world’s foremost atheist.

Mehdi Hasan interviews evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins at the Oxford Union and asks: Is religion a force for good or evil? Can it co-exist with science? Is science the new religion? And why if god does not exist, is religion so persistent?

Koran (5:32) explained, in context:

For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah’s Sovereignty), but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth.

So this verse, is as much a justification for killing your fellow men, as it is a call not to do so. Unfortunately, it says that you can kill your fellow men for “corruption in the earth.”

Now, what could that be? The next verse talks about it. Here’s the very next verse:

The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom;

So “corruption in the earth”/”corruption in the land” is made by anyone who makes “war upon Allah,” (which also means anyone who doesn’t submit to Islamic law, the sharia, such people are to be “killed or crucified.”

Islam declares war on everybody who isn’t a Muslim. From About.com:

A crucial distinction made in Islamic theology is that between dar al-harb and dar al-islam. To put it simply, dar al-harb (territory of war or chaos) is the name for the regions where Islam does not dominate, where divine will is not observed, and therefore where continuing strife is the norm. By contrast, dar al-islam (territory of peace) is the name for those territories where Islam does dominate, where submission to God is observed, and where peace and tranquility reign.

So, Islam declares war on anybody who isn’t a Muslim. Anyone who is, as a result, at war with Islam, is making “corruption in the Earth,” and is to be “killed or crucified.” (Link)

The first part the Muslim quoted, from verse 5:32, only applies as a warning to Jews. It doesn’t apply to Muslims.

sara December 24, 2012 at 7:57 pm: ‘war on Allah’ does not mean disbelieving in Allah or God. This verse does not state Muslims can go around killing people who do not believe in God. Only those who are a threat to believers i.e. have harmed/killed believers themselves FIRST.
Pray Hard December 25, 2012 at 12:07 am: Dawkins is conflicted? Seriously? He’s one of the least conflicted people I’m familiar with. Islam? He despises it. He’s stared more Islamists down than any of us. Are you kidding me? Maybe he didn’t fulfill your wishes in this particular video, but I’ve seen others where he makes imams squirm. He, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, et al, all despise Islam. It’s best to have such intelligent people on our side, whether they’re atheists or not. It’s irrelevant when it comes to elucidating the horrors of Islam. Whether he’s “studied up on it” is also irrelevant. One doesn’t have to know a damned thing about the Koran to see Muslims for what they are and Islam for what it is.

Sara, are you a Muslim? You sound like one. It doesn’t matter what the verses “say”. It matters what Muslims do. That’s the mystery you Muslims seem incapable of grasping. You think that by spouting your incessant taqiyya, that you can do whatever you want and we’ll be too stupid to see the discrepancy. We’re not. If I’m in the ring with another fighter, I don’t read a book about him. That’s the situation.

That falsehood has been spread for decades. The issue is that no one is killed in the name of atheism, but hundreds of millions have been killed in the name of religion.

As for Dawkins, being civil didn’t get him ahead in this ‘debate’. But Mehdi Hasan is a snake, and we can be sure that everything was a setup to begin with.

Dawkins doesn’t need to ‘fulfil my wishes’ in any way; he needs to have a better understanding of Islam. His beef is first and foremost with Christianity, which he detests, and he probably hates Judaism of which Christianity is a derivative. But when it comes to Islam, which is an ideology of warfare and deceit, he doesn’t have a basic grasp. Claiming that allah, Muhammad’s fig leaf, is somehow more compassionate or forgiving is disheartening. It makes him a superficial, ignorant intellectual lightweight. Whatever the subject matter, if you go out in public with it you gotta know your stuff.

When it comes to that, Hitchens was better.

Apart from that, there are no two atheists in the world who can get a movement off the ground. There are some militant loons, but nihilism, spite, ridicule and militancy against believers will not win them anything. It turns people off. All it does is that it makes these atheists useful idiots for the other side.
Pray Hard December 25, 2012 at 1:35 am: This interview was nothing but an Islamic propaganda joke. It’s set as a civilized interview, but it’s not. As a typical “religious” interviewer, he had no new, fresh material and basically asked the same old stupid questions that almost all interviews ask Richard. The only intelligence is coming from Richard. As always, Richard showed outstanding patience when answering idiotic questions and dealing with an aggressive interviewer.

I’d love to see this interviewer take on Sam Harris. Sam Harris would make him wet his pants and cry. As is typical for this type of interview, and I’ve seen hundreds, hardly anyone gets it. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day, but people won’t be any smarter.

Sharia clarifies and codifies the instances of when moslems can attack infidels: in the reliance of the traveller, it clearly states that under the catgory heading of *resistance to Submission* (what has been mistranslated in the above Sura 5:32 quote as “corruption” (fitna) IS indeed simple disbelief in Muhammad’s claims. In the Hedaya (Haneefite sharia compendium, which became the de facto base legal code for the entire Ottoman empire) it clearly states that infidels may be attacked, though they not be the first aggressors. Islam is a predatory extortion racket, nothing more than a crime-syndicate of holy mobsters. A forced faith isn’t a “faith” at all – it’s only extortion. And extortion is always a crime.
The only “religious” part in islam, is where they say:

“God told us to commit these crimes!”

So has yours, since it’s obvious you’ve never read the official quotes where Hitler – whom you allege was such a devout Christian – clearly stated he wished he’d been born a righteously violent moslem, rather than a “weak” Christian.

NO real Christian would ever say such a thing, much less in public.

Adolf also gleefully COPIED a lot of the moslem’s ways of doing things, like those yellow armbands with the Stars of David on them, to identify segregate, discriminate and humiliate the Jews with – those were originally invented and applied by islam.

In reality, the nazis were only ‘white’ moslems!

Yesterday, No Pasaran reminded us that 75 years ago the Nazis celebrated Christmas by transforming Christmas songs into hymns praising National Socialism.

BERLIN — De-Christianization of famous German Christmas hymns, such as “Silent Night, Holy Night,” is the outstanding contribution to the current holiday season of the rapidly spreading German faith movement or “religion” of National Socialism. In the new versions of the old songs reference to Nazi tenets of race, blood and soil replace familiar words concerning Christ, Child and the like. The accepted English translation of Mohr’s “Silent Night,” stanza three lines two and three is: “The Son of God loves pure light, radiant beams from thy Holy faith.” Equivalent lines in the Nazified version are “German blood, O how laugh the lips of thy children, blessed with joy.”

Their socialism trumped Christianity.

The Nazis also decorated their Hitler pictures during the Christmas season.
