An official from Sharia-ruled Aceh province blames “sexy women” for rape. A judge claims that both rapist and victim “enjoy” the act, hence the death penalty is inappropriate. Such views, which follow the death of an 11-year-old girl who was gang-raped, have outraged women.

No More Straddling!
A city in the Indonesian province of Aceh which follows Sharia has ordered female passengers not to straddle motorbikes behind male drivers.

Suaidi Yahya, mayor of Lhokseumawe, says it aims to save people’s “morals and behaviours”.

Leaflets have been sent out to government offices and residents to inform them about the regulation.

Aceh is the only Indonesian province that follows Sharia.

So I guess foreigners have permission to ride like this?

Indonesian authorities are threatening to move a community of displaced Shi’ite Muslims to another part of Indonesia if they refuse to convert to Sunni Islam.

About 165 Shia’s have been camped out in a sports complex in East Java since August, after their village was stormed by about 500 people opposed to their beliefs.

One person died and several others were injured in the August 26 attack in Sampang district, where many homes were burnt to the ground.

Five people are reportedly awaiting trial for their role in the attack.

Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted.
