French “Yoots” Torch 1,193 Parked Cars in New Year’s Eve ‘Tradition’

Don’t  mention the ‘allahu akbar’ and the raging Koranimals, you racist-bigot-Islamophobes! “Racist graffiti attacks by fascists” on an old shack that Muslims turned into a makeshift mosque are the real problem!

French “Yoots” Torch 1,193 Parked Cars in New Year’s Eve ‘Tradition’

(TheBlaze/AP) — A New Year’s Eve tradition for some in France of torching empty, parked cars has continued into 2013.  Interior Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday that 1,193 vehicles were burned overnight around the country, where the stunt began in the 1990s.

“In France’s rundown suburbs, it has become as much of a New Year tradition as champagne and fireworks in more affluent neighbourhoods,” the Agence France-Presse writes.

There was no way to compare this figure to recent ones, because the conservative government of former President Nicolas Sarkozy stopped making the numbers public while he was in office. But the rate of burned cars was apparently steady– on Dec. 31, 2009, 1,147 vehicles were burned.

For some, the decision of France’s current Socialist government to resume making public figures of New Year’s Eve’s torched cars is unwise.

Bruno Beschizza, a security chief for Sarkozy’s UMP party, said on iTele TV that publishing the numbers motivates youths to commit such crimes.

But Interior Minister Manuel Valls defended the change.

“Because a problem is hidden, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist,” he remarked.

Ditto.

  1. Muslims Burn About 1,200 cars on New Year’s Eve in France, The Conservative Papers, January 1, 2012 (thanks to The Religion of Peace)

Interior Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday that 1,193 vehicles were burned overnight around the country. Clashes between police and offenders in the New Year’s Eve took place in the Muslim majority districts in the city of Strasbourg and Mulhouse. About seven police officers were attacked New Years eve night.

Around 1,200 cars were burned by rioting Muslims on the New Year’s Eve in France, where the mass burning cars in the national holidays are kind of tradition among Muslim residents of the disadvantaged suburbs of immigrants.

In recent years, the celebration of the New Year and the Bastille Day (July 14) in France is often marked by mass burning cars as well. On the night of January 1, 2010, there were 1,137 thousand cars burned on the night of January 1, 2009 – 1,147 thousand were burned.

In the summer of 2010, the Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux made the decision to stop the practice of counting the demonstrators, as they claimed it only encourages the Muslim youths to commit such crimes . The current Minister of the Interior said that “the French people should know the truth.”

The American media has mostly not reported on these incidents, and when they do rarely mention their background or religion.

  2. Muslim savages burning cars. I am sure there is a cultural metaphor in there somewhere.

Ungrateful savages burn symbols of modernity.

    Quelle surprise! Not.

    Great News Years list, Sheik.

  3. Not sure what gay marriage has to do with parasitism, fascism or socialism.
(Of course, I am against marriage on principle – private civil contracts are sufficient. Still, if people want to have a party to celebrate commitment, that’s ok with me. )

However, I thought burning cars was a hate crime? How about all the insurance companies get together and sue the police.

  4. Sure, Al, but you didn’t mention straight razors. Or maybe they’re called gay razors now, I’m not sure.

  5. Oh, those poor little Mollusks and just trying to make their neighborhoods look like the cities they came from, you know, urban realism deco.
