The Antithesis of Multiculturalism: now Muslims are telling us what to wear

An Adelaide Islamic school wants its teachers to wear the hijab for school functions, or they could be sacked. 

Remember when far left loon Darryn Hinch went apeshit and called  Michael Smith a “moronic redneck”  and a “racist” when Smith said burqas are un-Australian?

Will the unhinged Hinch now attack the Muselmaniacs who are  forcing the hijab on non-Muslim women who work in a taxpayer funded Muslim school?

THOUSANDS of school workers are being urged to protest directly to an Islamic school that threatened to sack non-Muslim female staff if they did not wear a headscarf.

The Independent Education Union of Australia’s SA branch is encouraging its 7000 members to email the Islamic College of South Australia’s principal and board chairman asking them to reconsider the policy.

An email sent to all members yesterday asks them to copy and paste text that says “as a concerned IEU member I implore you to reconsider your requirement for all women at the Islamic College to wear a head covering”.

“To continue to do so, cheapens the wearing of head covering by those who choose to, is unfair on your female staff, risks reinforcing negative stereotypes of the Muslim community and is the antithesis of multiculturalism,” the email says.

The Advertiser this month revealed that up to 20 non-Muslim female staff members at the West Croydon campus had been told they would be sacked after three warnings if they did not wear a headscarf.

IEU state secretary Glen Seidel said repeated attempts to contact principal Kadhir Emniyet and board chairman Farouk Kahn had failed.

Mr Emniyet and Mr Kahn did not return calls or emails from The Advertiser.

Mr Seidel said he was aware that several staff had received warnings, but none had been sacked.

“We’re now ramping up the public pressure. We want all of our members to read the email and say ‘this isn’t right’ and forward it on to the school and board,” he said.

“Our members are complying with the recommendation in the fear that they will lose their jobs. They feel very apprehensive about their positions.”

Australian Federation of Islamic Councils assistant secretary Keysar Trad yesterday reiterated his previous statement to The Advertiser, saying people who are not Muslim should not be required to wear a headscarf.

“But we can’t interfere with board policy,” he said. “I have been in contact with board members and they’ve asked if the issue can be left to them.”
