An urgent investigation into a controversial Muslim free school in Derby is expected to condemn it as “dysfunctional” and call for it to be placed into special measures. “The school is in chaos,” the report says.
The Muslim schoolÂ described as “dysfunctional” by an Ofsted report has criticised the manner in which the report was made public. The front page of their website reads: “We have just learnt that our OFSTED report has been leaked to the press, does this happen in other schools?”.
A governor of Al Madinah free school in Derby has defended the school in the wake of the leaked publication of an Ofsted report at the school. Abdullah Shahjan said the media had ‘paid into malicious and detrimental rumours’ and used ‘impartial responsibility to gain official documents’.
This is a school which has been set up and run by representatives of the community with limited knowledge and experience.
Leadership and management, including governance, are inadequate and have been unable to improve the school.
