This came in Sheikh Sultan’s speech during a ceremony held to unveil the monument to Sharjah the Capital of Islamic Culture – Arab Region 2014 at the park opposite to the entrance to the main entrance to Sharjah University City on Sunday. The ceremony marked the launch of the emirate’s celebrations of this great entitlement.
Separately, Sheikh Sultan attended the inaugural function of the Clusters of Light event in Sharjah on Sunday.
Sheikh Sultan’s speech at the monument ceremony contained a series of messages that demonstrated Islam as a religion based on dialogue. He said: “Dialogue in the Holy Quran is the approach to discourse for Muslims and non-Muslims. It was not merely a theory but a practice by our Prophet (PBUH) and represented the cornerstone for building the Islamic civilisation.
Islam is a religion of forgiveness, tolerance and mercy and has no room for extremism. It is a universal religion that keeps the doors wide open for all the elements of love, goodness and beauty,” Sheikh Sultan added.
