‘NATO allies stand in solidarity with Turkey’
Should read ‘useful idiots fall for anything’
An emergency meeting of NATO is being held in Brussels at the request of Turkey on Tuesday.
Ambassadors of all 28 NATO allies are gathering amid police operations against terrorist organizations in the country.
Turkey has also started operations against ISIL and the PKK in northern Syria and Iraq.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in his opening remarks ahead of the meeting, expressed his solidarity with Turkey: “Our condolences go to the Turkish government and the families of the victims touched by these terrible acts of terror,” —World Bulletin / News Desk
‘We target only those who target Turkey’
Turkish PM warns against the misconception that since Turkey is going through a transitional period, its security forces are incapable of taking measures
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said the ongoing counter-terrorism operations are against those who target Turkey.
“We target those who target Turkey, not those who do not,” Davutoglu said in a live interview with the private A Haber and ATV television channels on Monday.–World Bulletin / News Desk
This is hardly new; I wrote of it in 2012. CNN is pushing a new book that is based on 1001 Muslim Inventions, a traveling museum exhibit that has appeared all over the West to huge acclaim from the likes of Prince Charles. It has indoctrinated hundreds of thousands of children into a rosy and romanticized view of Islam that makes them less appreciative of their own culture’s achievements and more complacent about Islamization in the West.
And now we see historical revisionism take on a new life, as history is scrubbed and manufactured Muslim myths are presented as fact. “1001 Muslim Inventions” is almost unfailingly dishonest. It touts surgery as one of the top 10 Muslim inventions, but in reality, surgery began in the Neolithic era and was widely practiced in ancient Greece. Likewise, the coffee plant was discovered in Christian Ethiopia.
There is no “Islamic extremism” just like there is no “radical Islam”, “militant Islam” or all these other forms of Islam that are supposedly peaceful. There is only Islam of the Quran and sunna of the prophet. A “war against terror” is as idiotic as a “war against extremism”. Muhammad said “I have been commanded to wage war until the people say there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his prophet.
David Cameron has said (yet again) that he hopes to encourage “Muslim reformists” and “moderates” (which is no different from chasing rainbows and unicorns….)

The British government must face facts. Whatever action it takes to counteract Islamic extremism in the UK is bound to (as the BBC puts it) “attract criticism from parts of the British Muslim community”. So let’s simply take that for granted.
In other words, the government will always be seen as “alienating Muslims” or “putting all Muslims in the same basket”. This will be the case whether or not what David Cameron does is forceful or pathetic. Any action whatsoever will produce criticism from Muslims; as well as from left-wing groups and individuals.
Recently established tent city in eastern Germany has become the target of far-right Neo-Nazi protestors.
Hundreds of asylum seekers feel threatened after violent protests by neo-Nazis in the eastern German city of Dresden.
Around 200 far-right extremists violently protested refugees on Friday night as they were brought by buses to the recently established tent city in an industrial area, around five kilometers away from the city center.
Shouting racist slogans, neo-Nazis threw stones and bottles, and set off firecrackers.
More than 350 people gathered in the area for a counter-demonstration and to show solidarity with the refugees.
Muslim community rejects the State’s criminalisation of Islam and condemns moves to silence legitimate critique and dissent…
This joint statement expresses a position with respect to the ongoing demonisation of Muslims in Britain, their values as well as prominent scholars, speakers and organisations.
We, the undersigned Imams, sheikhs, advocates, activists, community leaders, community organisations and student bodies of the Muslim community, make the following points in this regard: …
… It is time that politicians stop diverting the attention of the British public away from its domestic crises and disastrous foreign policies by repeatedly playing the ‘Muslim’ or ‘national security’ card.

A gang of Muslim youths launched an astonishing attack on vans being used for an immigration raid . . . In the ‘disturbing’ incident in East London last week, three vans marked ‘Immigration Enforcement’ and an unmarked silver car were badly vandalised.
More than a dozen officials arrived in Shadwell on Wednesday to round up three suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from a shop. They returned to their Home Office vehicles in the next street to find the vans’ tyres had been sliced open and the paintwork scratched. The officers were then pelted with eggs before police were called.
Two days earlier, the Prime Minister made a landmark speech appealing for support from the Muslim community in the effort to combat extremism.
One witness said: ‘I saw about five or six youths come out of nowhere and run towards the immigration vans. They had kitchen knives in their hands and they slashed the tyres and scratched the bodywork. It all happened very quickly, then they ran off. I think they were local Muslim hoodies just doing a prank, but it’s not funny. It’s the sort of thing that will cause this area problems now.’
Residents also claim the vans had to be towed away after a local garage refused to help, although the garage denies this.
The attack was condemned by community leaders in Shadwell last night, but social media posts appeared to reveal a groundswell of support for the gang.
On Facebook, Nur Choudhury said: ‘Immigration Enforcement officers in Shadwell. Their tyres got slashed, valves taken and cars scratched. The local garage refused to sell them tyres or help them. To top it all off they got egged from the local tower block and a few landed direct on their heads. Welcome to Shadwell 🙂
When The Mail on Sunday visited the scene on Friday, one shopkeeper said: ‘The police deserve it. They are always down here hassling us.’ A worker at Bigland Tyres – which is opposite where the attack took place – last night denied claims they declined to help.
More than half the population of Shadwell is Muslim, according to the 2011 census.
According to the picture accompanying the Mail on Sunday article this took place in Chapman Street in Shadwell. I have been to Chapman Street more than once. I visted and wrote about it here in 2010 although I didn’t name the street.Obviously the standard of local behaviour has not improved.

So, where are all these British Muslim moderates?
The Prime Minister was right to highlight the wider narrative that leads to Islamist violence. Trouble is, in British Muslim society “non-violent extremists who radicalise young people” are part of the mainstream, and no-one has the courage to say it—Full post below the fold
