  • He accused her of failing to tackle Sudanese gang problem and slamming critics

A man in a singlet has confronted Victoria’s Police Minister Lisa Neville on a Melbourne street and accused her of failing to tackle the African gang crisis.

The Labor cabinet minister was holding a media conference at Federation Square in the city with Assistant Commissioner Deb Abbott when she was given some feedback about her denunciation this week of far-right activists in St Kilda.

‘I don’t appreciate us being called racists because we’re sticking up for everyone,’ said the man, who was moved on by nearby officers after a three-minute exchange on Friday.

The man, wearing a fluoro orange singlet, also objected to her describing Saturday’s protesters at St Kilda as Nazis, after several men were photographed doing Hitler salutes.

‘We’re absolutely disgusted, we’ve had an absolute gutful of people like yourself that come out and accuse us of being a racist because we’ve had a gutful of crime,’ he said.

‘You reckon it’s alright to call us racist?’

After Ms Neville told him Victoria Police had put ‘an incredible amount of resources’ to keep people safe on the streets, he accused her of failing to properly address the issue of African gangs.

Continued below the fold.

Police minister confronted on Vic crime

There are people who call physiognomy* a pseudo-science.  I beg to differ.  Physiognomy is far more scientific than gender studies or “sustainability”.

A man has confronted Victorian Police Minister Lisa Neville, verbally attacking her about crime in the state and for labelling far-right protesters as racist.

A man has bailed up Police Minister Lisa Neville claiming nothing is being done about crime in Victoria and objecting to being labelled racist for taking part in a far-right rally.

Clad in a hi-vis singlet, the man repeatedly called the senior politician “mate” while pointing his finger at her in an uncomfortable exchange outside Melbourne’s Federation Square on Friday.

Ms Neville had just finished a press conference about security ahead of the Australian Open when approached by the man, who objected to political commentary following the far-right rally at St Kilda beach last weekend.

“I don’t appreciate us being called racists because we’re sticking up for everyone,” said the man, who was moved on by nearby officers after about three minutes.

“How is that inciting racism for calling it what it is?

“Next you’ll be telling me about all the ‘heil Hitlers’ and stuff like that which didn’t even happen, that was from the left side.”

Convicted criminals and extremists Blair Cottrell and Neil Erikson organised last Saturday’s rally at St Kilda, claiming to be protesting recent crime in the area by African youth.

That’s a despicable low blow from the Australian journaille. It suggests that patriots who are not squeaky clean are worse than the criminal blacks who run amok in Melbournistan.

The rally was attended by Queensland independent senator Fraser Anning who has used Nazi-associated term “final solution” in parliament and several men were photographed doing Nazi salutes there.

Again, an unnecessary smear on a good man and a patriot who opposes unassimilable savages and wants to see them gone.

On Friday Ms Neville, standing alongside Assistant Police Commissioner Deb Abbott, kept her cool while telling the man he had the right to protest, but said Victoria Police were making headway with crime.

How so?

The man discredited her “fake stats”.

“So all these people that I’ve spoke to that have had a gutful, I’m talking tens of thousands mind you, they’ve come out had their say and explained exactly what happened with the Sudanese and you can’t call it for what it is?”

Crime was a major issue during last year’s state election and the Liberal-National opposition lobbied heavily on law and order, saying it was out of control.

The Labor government was re-elected in a landslide win.

According to the latest crime statistics released in December, for the second consecutive year the overall crime rate has fallen, decreasing by 3.9 per cent to 7862 offences per 100,000 Victorians, the lowest rate since September 2014.

Fake stats indeed.

*Physiognomy is the assessment of character or personality from a person’s outer appearance. The art of judging human character from facial features.

‘Nothing’s been done,’ he said.

‘The Victorian people have had a gutful of being attacked and nothing’s being done about it.

‘All these people that I’ve spoke to, they’ve actually had a gutful, I’m talking tens of thousands, mind you, they’ve come out, had their say and explained exactly what happened with the Sudanese and you can’t call it for what it is.’

The man had approached the minister moments after she had finished a media conference about security for this month’s Australian Open tennis Gland Slam tournament.

On Sunday, a day after 100 far-right activists rallied at St Kilda against African crime, Ms Neville had described them as Nazis.

‘We have people who have died to eradicate Nazis in the world and we do not tolerate that here in Victoria,’ she said.

Melbourne has been the scene of violent African gang crime, with the Blood Drill Killers the latest group to be allegedly unleashed on the Victorian capital, following previous rampages across the Victorian capital by Menace to Society and Apex.

Africans, aged 14 to 17, were filmed shortly before Christmas brawling with middle-aged Vietnamese men dining outside the Song Huong restaurant on Alfrieda Street in St Albans, in Melbourne‘s north-west.

On Christmas Eve, a 46-year-old man was hospitalised with cuts to his face after African youths allegedly attacked the Song Huong Vietnamese restaurant in St Albans.

The previous day, 20 youths armed with baseball bats threw tables and chairs at patrons outside B&D Kitchen next door.

On December 19, there was another attack in the area which led to an alleged gang member being charged with robbery and assault.
